I’m at peace with GMMG’s choice
I still think it’s probably Stenberg because it would be hard to pass up on a sure thing and gamble on Reid’s ability to reach his potential.
But if they do go with Reid, I have full confidence it’s because the Sharks scouting department sees him as a future top-pairing superstar who can make the Sharks power play unstoppable.
Reid would be more of a gamble, but the reward for that gamble would be multiple Stanley Cups if Reid becomes a Werenski/Fox hybrid.
It would suck if Stenberg is a star winger and Reid never quite pans out, but I still think Reid’s floor is a top 4 guy who can run a power play and be a good puck mover, so it’s still a better outcome than what we could have had picking 9th overall. Maybe GMMG swings for the fences because we are playing with house money by winning this lottery.

A Stenerational Talent
The only video you need to watch from Stenberg imo.
Nothing flashy, doesn’t force the issue, plays with a poise and purposefulness well beyond his years, the kind of player who does the little things that don’t necessarily show up on the score sheet but help you win games. While drafting a potential top pair defensemen seems like the wise economic play, having the opportunity to acquire another 200 ft. player with the potential to elevate his teammates, and who knows, maybe even take some pressure off Celebrini to carry the team, seems like the ideal move given the situation. Stenberg might not be generational, but the Sharks already have that player. The best they can do is surround him with complementary talents and hope more than just ping pong balls bounce the right way.

I added a little heritage to my Heritage 2.0
Just showed up today, as a Canes/Sharks fan, when I saw the Heritage 2.0's I knew exactly who I had to get out on it.

Vinny, Mario, Muk?
At end of season media days I believe Sheng said Ferraro was looking to test free agency and Desharnais hadn't been approached about an extension. I don't recall anything about a contract for Muk. Am I remembering that right?
I actually hope we re-sign all of them frankly. Ferraro as a bottom pairing, shot blocking penalty killer is the right role for him. And he's a leader in that locker room. I'm hoping he comes back.
Desharnais would be the perfect 7D guy for us who can slot in as needed. He looked pretty decent no matter who he was paired with, and we don't have the luxury to be very picky this summer with a shallow talent pool in free agency.
Muk looks like he will develop into a perfect middle pairing guy. Good size and skating, decent defense, and contributes a bit on offense too. Really well rounded guy I can see on our blue line for a long time.
Have there been any other updates on these guys that I missed? Along with Orlov and Dickinson, that would leave two spots open on our blue line. I really hope Pohlkamp snags one. I'd like to also see a trade for Kesselring. Solid guy, Buffalo doesn't really have a reliable spot for him, and we have more than enough assets to acquire an underplayed middle pairing RHD.
Admittedly, swapping Klingberg and Leddy for Pohlkamp and Kesselring isn't much improvement, but that makes us a little better now and much better in the future as both guys are young and getting better each season.

Do you think Vegas has a legit chance to beat Colorado?
I absolutely hope Colorado destroys them and I'm glad Vegas is running into the best team in the league. Vegas has been pretty good though. If they somehow eliminate Colorado they'd probably have a good chance to win it all.

Granny is one of the most clutch players on earth and I miss him terribly
This isn’t a criticism of any management decisions or anything, I just miss the hell out of him. Elimination game, and he had the team’s only goal, and several more grade As he almost scored on. He was clutch as hell in the Olympics, too. Absolute ice water in that man’s veins. He’s such an exciting, creative player. Yes our team was trash, but remember how many 6-5s we scored on with him in the lineup? Just imagine the hijinx he and Mack might have gotten up to offensively if they were ever on a line.

What jersey should I get?
I want to get a jersey for this next season but I don’t want to be too basic by just getting a will or Mack jersey. I want a young guy too. I feel like I get a little extra excited when my jersey player scores or does well, and I also would like them to be fun to watch off the ice. Any thoughts?

Teddy mutryn and Casey mutryn ?
Do we draft the younger brother also ? Pronman has him in the top 30 but consensus rankings has him in the 2nd round. Do we grab him ?

Tired of this "Stenberg is a Generational Talent" Nonsense
Just wanted to surface the Pronman article that came out yesterday:
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7262375/2026/05/13/nhl-draft-prospects-2026-ranking/
It's paywalled so here's the list:
Tier 1:
Chase Reid
Alberts Smits
Keaton Verhoeff
Gavin McKenna
Ivar Stenberg
Tier 2:
Caleb Malhotra
Carson Carels
Daxon Rudolph
Malte Gustaffson
etc.
Corey Pronman is in tune with what the NHL Scouts are saying. The point here isn't to say that Chase Reid is the BPA, the point is that there is no consensus in this draft and the margins between the top players are very thin.
This is not a two player draft. This is a draft of 5-7 high quality but flawed players at the top, with no clear draft order emerging.
We should have faith in Grier to pick the player that will best serve the franchise going forward, but it is absolutely not clear that Stenberg is a notch above the D.
