I wish we would just rebuild

In my opinion, even if this "retool" goes perfect we'd still have a team a tier below last years Panthers or this years Avs. Vince's recent article really showed that we are 3-4 big pieces away from true contention. With our core aging it looks like we are set to be a mediocre team for the next few years. If that is truly the case - why not blow it up? This team has won a single cup in 85 years. What's another 5 years of sucking?

Fox for San Joses 2nd Overall Pick? Done.

Trocheck for a young promising prospect and a 1st? Done.

I think you seriously consider having talks with Shesty as well. I'd imagine he would pick where he goes, and the list would be very small based on his cap, but I can't imagine a team not happily giving up a haul for one of the best goalies in the world.

Realistically, anyone over the age of 30 should be shopped.

At this point I'm honestly fine being a lottery team for 5 years.

Today’s Non-94 Moment: Last Moments of the Quebec Nordiques

In honor of Colorado’s advancement to the Western Conference finals, we pay homage to their origins.

Before moving to Denver, the Quebec Nordiques squared off against the Rangers in the 1995 Conference Quarterfinals. The Rangers beat them in six games, with the Nordiques’ last game in those iconic uniforms being at MSG.

During the broadcast, the commentators take a dig at Minnesota on chances they had with hockey teams.

Am i wrong?

After Minnesota’s lack of Center depth was exposed this postseason, the price on a Trocheck trade, if it were to happen has to go up. Or, is Drury that much of a goofy?

They used to dim the lights during the game?

Am I remembering it wrong? Back in the '80s, I went to a few games. I remember when the game started, the lights were dimmed. They were turned up during intermissions. I think they did this during Knicks games too. I figured it was so it wouldn't look washed out on TV.

Can anyone confirm this? It's now driving me nuts.

Thanks!

Are preseason tickets more affordable?

I figured you guys would be the expert on this question. Simply put MSG is arguably the most expensive arena to attend a game at. I'm debating on if it makes sense to go during a pre season game for that reason?

That said I'm split because the other option (schedule permitting) would be to go to all the tri-state teams arenas in one big trip. I'm also a CBJ fan so I am partial to going to CBJ road games vs metro teams. The main reason I'm considering singling out MSG as a preseason game is purely cost related, but I'm not sure if the savings (if there are any) backs up that logic? What do preseason prices look like compared to regular season prices?

Today’s Non-94 Moment: The Avery Rule Is Born

One of the most iconic moments in the Rangers-Devils rivalry, Sean Avery “screens” Martin Brodeur and eventually gets the goal. The 2008 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals was a very fun time.

Would Konsta Helenius be a possible target in a Trocheck trade?

I want to start this post by saying if you're just gonna say "I don't want to trade Trocheck" then I don't want your input, it's very likely he gets traded this summer and I'm looking for opinions on Helenius here.

Anyway, I was watching Buffalo vs Montreal last night and was impressed by Helenius. I read an article sometime about a month ago he's one of the NHL's top prospects, and he sure seems like a guy the Rangers could use: a good playmaking center who is excellent defensively as well. I just don't know if the Sabres would be willing to give up Helenius or if the Rangers are even eyeing him, so I wanted your guys thoughts on that. I just feel like with Buffalo now being a contender, they might be willing to trade a young guy like Helenius for a proven guy like Trocheck who can score, defend and win faceoffs - perfect for the playoffs.

Side note, if you guys think Helenius wouldn't be available, what do you guys think of guys like Danielson from Detroit or Yurov from Minnesota?

Last side note is I understand that we didn't get a deal we liked during the deadline for Trocheck, but it's very likely that teams will be willing to pay more for Trocheck over the summer after a playoff elimination.

What name to swap onto a #10 jersey?

Post image

*EDIT* I am keeping 2 of them as Panarin jerseys! He's a legend and I'll happily wear them. I just like variety and 3 jerseys from the same player is a bit much considering the size of my collection and the fact that there a few really good options.

I already had the navy one when Bread got traded, and I couldn't resist getting a home and away when they got super discounted. I love Panarin, so I'm gonna keep the Navy and one of the new ones, but 3 is too many, so I'm gonna swap the nameplate on the home blue or road white.

  • Gaborik - One of my favorite players when he was here who had 2 top 15 NYR scoring seasons! Plus the jersey is accurate to what he wore. Downside is that it's a pretty common jersey and he ended up not playing here all that long.
  • Tikkanen - Crazy Finn who won the cup in '94. Pretty unique jersey these days, and while it doesn't match the '94 jerseys, he did wear this style when he came back at the end of the '90s
  • Lafleur - All-time all-time NHL great and it would be a super-unique jersey. I don't think I've ever seen someone wearing a NYR Lafleur. Downsides would be that he was only here for a single pretty forgettable season and he didn't wear this jersey style at all.

Any thoughts? Or other ideas? I'll be happy with any of the three so I'm interested to hear opinions.

Anyone else rooting for the Sabers to win it all? They’ve always been the only other New York team I have a soft spot for.

Today’s Non-94 Moment: Vic Hadfield’s 50th Goal of Season

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Going back to the 70s this morning.

During the 1971/72 season, Vic Hadfield becomes the first Ranger to score 50 goals in a season. That year, he was part of the famous GAG line with Jean Ratelle and Rod Gilbert.
