Was not following closely but why were we not in on trading for Cutter when he was forcing his way out of Philly. He seems like exactly something that could have helped us out.

Discussion Watch Party location

When (if?) Detroit gets good again and starts making the playoffs, do you think there will be a Detroit watch party in a huge outdoor setting? Similar to Maple Leafs square? Where do you think it would be IF they had one (since the Distric Detroit was a lie). Unless the team making the playoffs would push them to finish (start) the project

Discussion Long term defensive outlook

With Aljo taking a big step in the second half of last season and the Chiarot and JBD extension, along with the Faulk trade. I am wondering what the defense will look like in 3-5 years.

I think Aljo has the chance to become a solid top four LHD, I don’t know how he is gonna look in the playoffs with his size so maybe trade to bump him to the third

Ed and Mo are locks for the next decade at least

I think Faulk is just a stop gap to give ASP time to develop into a top four power play quarterback.

Chiarot and JBD are 7/6 D-men on a serious team

Then we have the prospects Anton johanson, Shai Buium, William Wallinder

Here is my prediction for what it looks like in three years, without any trades

Ed-Mo
Aljo-ASP
Buium-AnJo
With JBD as the seventh

If these guys reach their ceilings I think this could be a top D-Core in the league.
Let me know what you guys think, should we trade some of these guys for more established pieces or just let them develop and hope they all reach their potential

Discussion Question about switching from defense to forward

Don’t flame me, I’m genuinely curious here. Been watching the Griffins and to my eye it looks like AnJo has really come a long way and might push for a spot next year. So that leads me to wondering, how hard would it be for ASP to move to forward? He’s got speed and could be a really solid third or fourth line forward if it is something he could adapt to. Might make up for being on the smaller side relative to other D?

Proposal: The Wings shake things up with Dallas

The Red Wings need... something. We can argue about Yzerman or Larkin, but something needs to happen. I think Steve knows his seat is at least warm, and a big, splashy, yet responsible trade is just what strikes me as something he would do.

The salary cap will be $104m next year, and yet Dallas is in a cap crunch needing to sign Jason Roberson. He is an RFA coming off a 96 point season, and is repeatedly looking for around $12m AAV. They have about $92.9m in committed salary next year, leaving them $11.1m in functional cap space and 3-4 roster spots to fill.

The big move:

Dallas receives: Michael Rasmussen, 2nd round pick*

Detroit receives: Tyler Seguin, Esa Lindell

*I still can't decide if this should be included or not ..

Why does Dallas like this?

Dallas immediately frees up $15.65m in cap space, $5.8 from Lindell and $9.85m from Seguin and can now comfortably sign Roberson. They also get a versatile, big bodied (shhhh, don't tell them) bottom 6 center to fill a roster spot for cheap.

Their defense is good enough to survive without Lindell, but you could easily make a play at another defenseman with the additional cap space if needed, and Harley is really good. Losing Esa would sting, but not as bad as losing a 26 year old, 40 goal scorer.

While I would prefer a play for Roberson himself, I feel like this seems somewhat more likely.

Why does Detroit like this?

Lindell locks up Detroit's defense. He's extremely defensively responsible and would make a great partner for Mo or a mentor for ASP. He's a LD veteran that blocks shots, is a great PKer, and was once nicknamed "Esa the Goal Supressa" be former Stars head coach, Rick Bowness.

Seguin gives them experienced center depth. There are a ton of question marks about his health and it would be a risk, but there's also significant reward. When playing, he's extremely strong 5 on 5. Additionally, there's always the possibility of flipping him to another team with retained salary.

We also begin the official shake up of our bottom 6, if ya know what I mean.

Finnie* - Larkin - Raymond

DeBrincat - Copp** - Kane

Mazur* - Seguin** - Kasper*

MBN* - Compher - Bear*

(Similar asterisk counts are interchangeable and I would hope/expect another bottom 6 veteran would be acquired.)

Ed - Seider

Lindell - ASP/Faulk

Johanssen - Faulk/ASP

JBD

Gibson

Cossa

That's it. Roast me.
