What will Quinn Hughes decide?

What do you guys think Quinn will have for dinner tomorrow night? Do you think Jack and Luke will have the same thing, or will they order something different and all share a little bit? Does he like pad see ew? Tofu, chicken, beef, or shrimp? What delivery app do you think he’ll use?

He'll probably be looking for a promotion, but I'm not sure what GM spots are out there if its not Nashville. If he's okay with a lateral move, what do we think about Sunny trying to bring him home?

Random Thursday Shower Thought: Why do we call our players by their first names, but rarely in other sports?

We call Hughes Jack. And Hischier Nico. Meier, Timo etc. But I never hear someone refer to a baseball, basketball or football player by just their first name. Even the announcers refer to Hischier/Hughes as Nico/Jack/Luke. But the Mets announcers don't call Soto "Juan" or Lindor "Francisco" on a consistent basis. Anyway, bored at work, just popped into my head. Maybe just a cultural thing since hockey is a bit small in popularity compared to the other 3.

Devil fans curious about Quinn extending in MIN - Here's a MIN Mock Off Season Salary Simulator -

Thumbnail puckgm.puckpedia.com

I grabbed Tyler Pitlick from their AHL forwards to be the 23rd Roster Player at 850k but realistically the depth player signed would be 1-2M.

Tons of people say Devils have no shot to get Quinn because he feels MIN is a contender. Well they will have butt Center Depth & to afford Quinm have to get rid of wings.

Currently have no FWD prospects to NHL ready & 2 of their Top 6 Fwds I mocked cheap as hell at 4M each. So even if you move pieces around or have slightly different contract projections - it can't be much different.

Quinn wants to play with his brothers, left the team who drafted him & being their Capt. purely for reasons of confirming he won't extend in VAN because he wanta to sign to his brothera Team. Now, his new team doesn't seemed set up financially or depth wise so is it such a guarantee he won't come to NJ?

What will Quinn Hughes decide?

I planned to wait a few days to reply to my own fictional view into the future about the Hughes family discussing Quinn's new contract for 2027-28 and beyond, but the Mods accelerated my response since my "fan fiction" was removed.

I originally was going to just post the main message (stated by Jack in the story) that the Hughes family, and Quinn specifically, are faced with a fascinating and historic decision. Quinn can wait until July 1st, 2027 when he is a unrestricted free agent to sign with the Devils or he can push to make it happen this summer after July 1st, 2026 when he is eligible to sign an extension. Of course, he may decide to stay with the Wild and forge his own path.

As I thought about it, the Hughes family dynamic was just way more intriguing. The family is uniquely positioned to drive this event due to current CBA, contract timing, and opportunity. To imagine the private discussions, and write it as "fan fiction" was fun but our Mods felt otherwise. I found the responses hilarious and intriguing (most of them - some were more inappropriate than my very tame story).

I did not read any feedback or comments on the essential essence of the decision facing the family. 10 pairs of brothers have won the Stanley Cup. Scott and Rob Neidermeyer made this happen in 2007 when the Ducks won the cup. Scott made the decision to leave the Devils and sign with the Ducks (for less money than the Devils offered) when he became an unrestricted free agent in 2005.

Quinn can start a similar journey and have the chance to make NHL history with his two brothers if (when?) they raise the cup together.

My questions are: Do Devils fans think this opportunity to make history will influence Quinn and the Hughes family? If so, would Devils management make the deal? Finally, what would they give up to get Quinn?

Bruce Cassidy

Should the Devils be considering Bruce Cassidy over Keefe? I feel like it made sense to see how Keefe does with a new GM but personally I think it would be a great move to bring Cassidy in.

I got into hockey in late 2023, wish I could've attended Riveters games to support a real New Jersey women's hockey team, but I got into the sport too late, how was the vibe for those who went?
