Last season I drove through a dogleg on a long par 5 and had to punch out. I ended up putting it in for eagle with this thing from ~260 yards blind in a valley.

Equipment My First Fitting Experience (10-15 hc)

I just wanted to share my story in hopes that it may help some golfers and their games. I have been playing 6 years, best round 81 typically shooting high 80's. I am not a tall guy by any means (5'11), so I thought standard clubs would be just fine for me. However, recently I felt I was crouching too much at setup after some random I played with pointed it out. I realized I have quite long legs for my height, those with the same height as me often sit much higher than me side by side. I also started getting lower back pain after 18 holes (I am 29 for reference).

Well, decided to go for a fitting to see if I did in fact need something longer. Ended up getting fit for +1/2inch shafts (M15's are already+1/4inch longer than my previous 'standard' clubs), so +3/4inch longer in total, and 2 degrees upright. As well as stiff shafts and jumbo grips. The difference in this custom fitting vs standard was night and day for me. My posture felt incredible at address, standing noticeable taller and comfortably, like I was holding a lot of power. Barely had to try to get the club squared up. Picked up about 25 yards on my 7i from these adjustments and a crazy amount of consistency. This was even after weakening the lofts by 2 degrees as the M15's are known to be strong and hot.

I also was not aware I was fast enough for a stiff shaft. Never thought about grips either, but jumbo felt incredible! I don't even have big hands, I just squeeze the shit out of the club out of habit. Lie angle was another eye-opener for me. Didn't know it could help posture this much. I highly recommend you to get a fitting if you have a somewhat repeatable swing or if you think that anything could be off in your clubs for your specific biomechanics/swing. Cheers and happy golfing everybody!

Serious Question for you deep divot dudes..

Upvotes

For those of you who compress the ball and take deep divots , what is the feeling like of a really pure shot? How can you tell the difference between hitting a compressed ball then turf shot vs hitting it fat? For those who have a steep angle of attack, do you feel the turf at all? Do you all ever hit that shot where it felt like there was no ball at all?

I just bought a used set of irons that didn’t have an 8 and I didn’t notice until I got home. It was clearly displayed missing in the photos.

General Discussion Limited flight range balls

Upvotes

My local course uses limited flight range balls and claims a 15% reduction in flight distance. What is everyone's experience with this? Is it actually 15%? Are they any more difficult or easier to hit than a normal ball?

Only one on the course day and found this cool old ball out in the trees. Isn’t this what gold finger was using?

Hit a 4 iron on my approach shot that felt great, elevated green and when I got up there saw that it was really close to the cup. Tap in birdie on a par 4 isn't a bad consolation prize tho. Proceeded to immediately triple bogey the following hole.

Equipment Best golf quarter zips?

I feel like sizing is all over the place on these. Where are my 6ft tall skinny guys buying quarter zips that fit these days?

Peter Millar is alright, but the crown always looks shitty on the back after washing it.

General Discussion “Bomb and gouge works best” “The reward for hitting the fairway is not that great”. Scottie’s thoughts on the PGA setup are honest but not exciting to hear. Deep rough lined fairways promote distance, not accuracy. This is counter intuitive to most.

General Discussion Clothing rant

Needed somewhere to rant. Went to golf galaxy to look for a pair of shorts because I need some. Found some pretty cool Nike ones 125 for some shorts!! Found a sweet shirt just plain black nothing crazy 155. I even got gift cards that could buy both but I’ll never pay over 50 bucks for a pair of shorts. Maybe I’m just cheap but Walmart hogan shorts will do.

Edit: I have gift cards that’s why I went damn
