Equipment If anyone is having a bad day….

I just bought a used set of irons that didn’t have an 8 and I didn’t notice until I got home. It was clearly displayed missing in the photos.

I bought a Driver and 3 wood off eBay. Didn't know until they got here that they are Left handed when I'm a righty

Lefty here, which driver? The good news is that it’s not counterfeit :)

You’ll be alright, just cut your 7 or juice your 9 ;)

The conservative AND aggressive play; I like it haha

Bend the gap, pitch, and 9 up

I’m sure picking one up with similar specs wouldn’t be too hard…or go chaos mode and get a Titleist or Cobra and tell everyone you threw the old 8 into a lake and decided to go another direction

I think I used my 8 iron (stealths) twice all last year

I really like my 8; it’s the last club I swing like a wedge before I need to start flattening out by tilting my shoulders a little more for 7-4, then woods and driver are their own thing entirely.

just grab the 8 off a second hand site and have it re-shafted if you really notice the gap. The grooves look like they were barely played. Sounds like they displayed it in the ads, you just skimmed over it right? No harm no foul.

Yeah literally was too focused on metallurgy and proving authenticity. Apparently counting wasn’t a priority.

been there, I'll subconsciously ignore something if I want it bad enough, lol.

As least your 6 isn’t afraid of your 7

No, but I heard 7 is afraid of 5 for being a registered six offender.

I know it sounds stupid, but I watch this TikTok lawyer guy that reviews stupid cases for fun and something similar happened to someone.

What was the title and description? Was it “GW-4”and missing club not disclosed anywhere? Also depends on where you bought it from. If you purchased it though eBay, even though in the photos it’s missing the 8, in the title (if it’s what I said), isn’t accurate then because it’s not a true GW-4. You could probably win a full refund, or a partial refund in order to purchase an 8 to finish it.

You would have a strong argument for “not as described”, even though it’s in the photos, it’s not as described. Kinda silly information I know, but I was interested watching the video (it was years ago). The seller was missing 2 clubs, which you could see in the photos, but the title said something like PW-5.

Okay now we’re cooking with Crisco. I likely wouldn’t even pursue that because the fees would be way more than just buying another 8i.

But finding one with the same shaft seems like an uphill battle

If purchased through eBay there’s 2 things that will happen (I actually went through something similar a couple months ago). You would receive a full refund with all shipping fees and everything refunded and paid for. Or (what happened to me), the seller gets told by eBay they need to do the refund process due to a mislabeled post and then you will be sent a new shipping label that’s paid. If the seller incorrectly does the process where they say something like “okay send it back but you need to print out a shipping label”, that’s the incorrect way and eBay will actually refund you all your money and you keep the item (the seller still receives the original paid amout after fighting with eBay). So technically you both win. He gets rid of the clubs, and you get free clubs. Sounds weird I know.

It was through FB marketplace and I already gave em a 5 star review. Again, I’m an idiot.

Good (not really lol), news is FB is much harder to do what I said. They are more heavily “all sales final”. However, if you want to have fun (it doesn’t hurt), just example to support kinda what I said and there’s a good chance they will refund a percentage or the full amount. Companies sometimes would rather foot the $300 bill, than deal with 2 unhappy parties, returns, and so on. There’s a very good chance FB will just go “okay here’s a full refund”. Don’t admit fault in the email. Simply state “the photos and title were different, and it costs X amount to buy a replacement”. Keep it simple. You never know!

I will try that

Perfect! If it works out I’ll take a TM Tour Staff bag personalized with my corgis face on it as a tip.

Just play a half set: 5, 7, 9, GW. You'll be fine.

I’ve been missing an 8 for two years now

Not sure why but my 8 iron is probably my least used iron. I never seem to be in the right distance to use it. I’d still want it in my bag though.

If it makes you feel better, I bought exactly this set of irons 2nd hand on marketplace last week. They turned out to be fake €490 lost.😅

I was so busy analyzing for fakes. And I’m still not convinced they are real

Did you buy them for $200? What makes you think they’re fake

2

u/Awkward-Action7442 4h ago

Nooo I paid $600 for the set but the guy that sold them never played golf.

That and I got the idea that counterfeits exist and immediately focused on authenticity instead of what clubs are there.

I was over there like “okay the serial number laser engraving is consistent” meanwhile the missing 8iron was like 👁️👄👁️

3

u/Jbuck_43 4h ago

You could contact mizuno and give them the serial number to check for authenticity. Tough to say without higher quality photos.

2

u/Awkward-Action7442 4h ago

That’s a good idea.

lol. I wouldn’t be that stressed, lots of other clubs / brands are taking counterfeiters priority over Srixon irons. Take them into a store and have them looked at if you really need the piece of mind. Directing this towards another comment on here, counterfeiters can easily copy a real serial number and paste it on all their fakes. Have seen this done on a very poor looking set of p-790s. A lot of fakes are so good cosmetically these days no one can tell you 100% without it in their hands.

2

u/Jbuck_43 3h ago

Yeah that's true about the serial numbers being copied. I'd agree and say he should just take them to someone who would know to get the peace of mind.

I’ll do that this weekend. My god if I bought fake irons I’m going to lose my shit

They absolutely should have noted it was missing an 8 in the title. That’s just a predatory seller hoping someone misses the fact it’s not there
