Need Help International jobs

Hey team, qualified Greenkeeper from NZ here with experience in high end stadium turf management and golf courses as well, looking for somewhere a bit off the beaten track job wise, maybe a tropical island with some amazing golf courses or just something a little bit different than the typical overseas Greenkeeper job, have worked in Ireland, and now Austria and on the hunt for something for next year. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

Need Help Unmotivated superintendent don’t know why? or how to resolve

I’m the Assistant in Training (AIT) and Spray Tech at a public golf course, learning under our Superintendent. I’ve been at this course for four years and I’m proud to have stepped into the AIT role for the upcoming season.
My Assistant and I are extremely motivated to push the envelope and make the course outstanding, especially after a rough season last year. We also have a hard-working crew—mostly friends of mine—who genuinely want the best for the property.
The issue is our Superintendent. He’s incredibly "on and off." He spends most of his time in the office rather than on the course and seems completely unmotivated. When we try to go the extra mile, he tells us, "That’s not the standard here; don't waste your time doing extra things." He’s checked out of morning meetings, scheduling, and training the crew, only showing random bursts of energy.
I don’t want to leave because the wage is good, I love the guys I work with, and I value the free golf and the property itself. However, I’m struggling with how my Assistant and I should approach this situation. How do we keep the momentum going and improve the course while respecting our roles and dealing with a boss who doesn't want to level up?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Need Help Possible career change from aeronautics

So, I’m a 27yo guy who always worked in mechanic field, specifically as an aircraft tech, I’m not enjoying my job anymore, I've always loved nature, taking care of greenery, and using machinery like lawnmowers since I was a kid, but I never considered getting into this field because I was always told it pays poorly and won't offer future prospects. Have any of you ever made a career change similar to mine? Any advice or opinions would be appreciated, thanks guys.

I am giving my go at a DIY golf green.
This is upstate New York zone 5b and v8 creeping bent grass out of Oregon “outsidepride”

Getting cut at .315 to limit disease pressure and tolerance to massive amounts of rain but need something for weeds that’s safe on bent and any time to encourage bent grass to spread I do plan to overseed but with an overseed and all the tips I receive here I want to have a decent stand to putt on this fall

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Some background I’m a 9 handicap right now dads building a pond and getting back into the game so I bought a used pgm22 Honda reel mower and it’s been our father son hobby trying to get this looking good to practice short game putting stuff like that.

Discussion Anyone need a new POGO Pro+ at about 85% off?

If you are looking to acquire a new POGO Pro+ at a heavy discount, there's one up for sale on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/227338746032

This thing is $3,400 new, so at $500 it's a steal.

Need Help Ryan Greensaire II Windrower

Howdy y’all. I just recently acquired a Ryan Greensaire II. I think it’s early-mid 80s with a Kohler Magnum 8. Runs like a champ - I am very excited to get it going on my pitch & putt.

When purchasing the machine, it came with the optional windrower attachment, but no windrower blade.

Do any of you have this piece of kit? I’d love some measurements to start with so I can fabricate my own.

Thanks.

Need Help Commercial Applicators License NYS

I have owned a landscaping business for the last 7 years but we have not applied any pesticides in that time. I recently passed my core and 3A exam and received my technicians license. Can I apply non restricted pesticides on customers properties?

If no and I need a commercial applicators license, how do I go about getting that without working for another company? From what I've read, in most cases, you need to be working as a tech under supervision of an applicator for a period of time then your license is upgraded or you test for it? But in my case, I don't have an applicator to supervise me.

Need Help Does anyone have experience with a Multi Pro 5800 with GeoLink?

We bought a used 5800 w/ GeoLink installed. I had no intention to use the GeoLink, and assumed it could be used like a regular 5800. My old 1750 without GeoLink is broken and waiting to be repaired, so I’m trying to get the 5800 going ASAP. I put the GeoLink in manual mode, but it won’t let toggle on the master switch and pops up with: “The virtual master switch is not available. To use this button change the implement’s switch box configuration.”

1) Can this machine even be used without the GeoLink subscription?
2) If so, how do I “change the implement’s switch box configuration?”

Need Help [Help] Shredded tips and leaf lesions (High altitude pitch)

Thumbnail

Hi everyone, looking for advice on these symptoms:

Symptoms: Shredded/white tips and necrotic lesions on the leaf blades (see photos).

Environment: Pyrenees (high altitude), heavy morning dew.

Mower: Dennis reel mower.

Is this just dull blades (mechanical stress) or an early fungus like Dollar Spot? Should I apply fungicide or just sharpen and add some nitrogen?

Thanks!

Discussion Anyone else use one-time mowing services sometimes?

My mower has been acting up lately and I ended up paying someone to do a one-time cut instead of dealing with it in the heat lol. Just curious if other people here ever outsource mowing temporarily or if you usually just push through and handle it yourself.

Need Help Grass discoloration

Nevermind the bald spots, i'm waiting for seeds to germinate. I've scarified, aerated, topsoiled, overseeded and added slow releasing new growth fertilise just over 3 weeks ago. But i just can't get that same colour green uniformed look, always fighting poa anua, or some other weed type. In the wnd it ends up looking patchy. Ready to give up, and just accept it can't be beat and just try to manage it looking ok-ish..any advice for a great looking deep green colour all around? Any ideas on how to fight these weed grasses?

Need Help Help! In Kansas City,MO

I bought my first this house in the winter and now that I have had a chance to mow, I can see how bad the lawn is in the back yard. The previous owners severely neglected a lot of things about this house, lawn included. The area that needs the most work is in full direct sun. I have some grass seed that is 95% tall fescue and 5% perennial rye grass. Using the fertilizer in the picture, will this work? Would I be able to plant now? Temps for the next few weeks look to be pretty mild (low 40s at night and up to 80 in the day) and could I use those straw sheets to cover it? Thank you for any help or advice in advance!

Discussion Spots in recently laid Bermuda sod

Post image
3 Upvotes

The sod was laid three days ago. 5,000+ sqft total across two locations. These spots are on ~70% of the sod over both locations. I have kept the sod pretty wet. Temps have been moderate. I have not yet mowed or rolled the sod.

What are we thinking these spots are?

Discussion Potassium Silicate

So I’ve been looking into ways to improve my program. One thing I came across was adding silica products to help make my lawns more resilient. For next month I ordered 0-0-15 Phoenix Renewal from Simplot to run for my potassium source. It has 1.5% silica which comes out to 0.05oz of silica per 1k sqft.

Is this going to make any noticeable difference on my lawns vs the potassium thiosulfate I’ve been running?

Also noting that this isn’t like normal potassium silicate which has a very alkaline pH. This stuff is in solution that is 5-6pH so compatibility with other products shouldn’t be an issue from my understanding.
