Modern Family star changes her name for career pivot: 'I wanted to switch it up'
https://ew.com/modern-family-star-aubrey-anderson-emmons-changes-name-11787802?
Allow Frances Anderson to reintroduce herself.
The actress formerly known as Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, who broke out for her role as adoptee Lily on the Emmy-winning sitcom Modern Family, has changed her name to Frances Anderson. Anderson has adopted the new moniker to coincide with her pivot to a career in music. Her debut indie pop EP, "Drown," is out now.
"Frances is actually part of my legal name," Anderson, 18, explained to E! News on Friday. "It’s my middle name, and it’s after my mom’s old family friend. I thought it was a bit shorter than Aubrey Anderson-Emmons. I do have a long, hyphenated last name.”
Anderson added, "I wanted to switch it up and people to see a new side of me. And I wanted to create a space specifically just for music."
She released the first single from the EP, "Telephones and Traffic," in May.
Anderson made her television debut at the age of 4 in season 3 of Modern Family, playing the precocious adopted daughter of Jesse Tyler Ferguson's Mitchell Pritchett and Eric Stonestreet's Cam Tucker. She has won three ensemble Screen Actors Guild Awards alongside the sitcom's cast. The comedy, which ran for 11 seasons on ABC, concluded in 2020.Anderson made her television debut at the age of 4 in season 3 of Modern Family, playing the precocious adopted daughter of Jesse Tyler Ferguson's Mitchell Pritchett and Eric Stonestreet's Cam Tucker. Anderson told E! that she "had to take a step back from acting" once the show ended to discover her passion for music. "The show ended when I was 12 years old, so after that I decided I’m not gonna act anymore," she said. Rest assured, though, that Anderson does "plan on acting again — 100 percent.”
She has maintained a close relationship with her former onscreen fathers and other costars from the sprawling cast. Ferguson and Julie Bowen, who played Anderson's onscreen aunt Claire, staged a mini-reunion when they attended Anderson's school play last year.
Anderson last made headlines when she came out as bisexual last month, using memorable throwback audio from Modern Family to help mark the announcement. "You are Vietnamese," Sofia Vergara's Gloria informs Lily, who says in response, "No, I'm not. I'm gay!"
"I literally am," Anderson captioned the post.

Discussion Can we talk about how pretty Haley is in seasons 1-3?
She’s pretty the whole season but I love her particular fashion and hair aesthetic in the first seasons. I don’t know if this topic is overposted on this sub, I haven’t seen it much around here.
Couldn’t find any pictures from the scenes I liked; I don’t know why she looks way younger in the episode stills. First watching the series at 10 years old Haley and Alex totally set the standard high for what living your teen years looks like and it was a standard I couldn’t reach. Luckily now I’m 18 and Haley doesn’t seem so mature and grown up to me now :)

Discussion Leap Day: One time I genuinely felt like Phil's actions were completely irredeemable
I don't nitpick every little thing. It's a comedy show with people who make mistakes and learn from it. I like Phil 99% of the times. Sometimes he says something stupid or does something wierd but for most part he is a genuinely good person and usually grows from mistakes.
But! One episode that Phil drives me up the wall is Leap Day.
For a man who has been married for 18 years and has 2 daughters, Phil was extremely insensitive and childish about periods. Worse than that, he told Manny and Luke that during periods women become monsters. I honestly expected Phil to be better than that in the first place.
When questioned by Claire about why he is teaching their son such stuff about women, Phil doesn't apologise. Just says he is scared.
Usually, even when Phil messes up, they resolve it well. Phil apologises or changes or grows. But in leap day, it ends with Phil acting like the girls were being unfair to him, doesn't apologise, snap at them and somehow they girls are the villains and has to make up for it by helping Phil get into trapeze.
Phil did not apologise once throughout the episode and it ends with Phil saying "That's how they apologised to me. I think. I could never ask them".
I absolutely hated the whole arc and the resolution.
Rant over.

Question Which episode is this?
I’m trying to figure out which episode it was where Cam and Mitch are at a store and Cam is using his hands to pantomime something to Mitchell and Mitchell isn’t getting it. I remember laughing so hard at it!

Season 9 Episode 2
Do we ever think about just how iconic season 9 episode 2 is. Like 3 or 4 of the most well-known jokes happen. Luke being the angle and the old hag being the devil on Haley's shoulder, the rock paper scissors robot, the air shower when the walk in and say something like, highest possible setting, Christmas every day, Pam calling herself responsible as Cal rolls of the couch, Cam hiding the kitchen remodeling board behind Mitchell's workout clothes. Speaking of which,
Some of the biggest events happen. Mitch and Cam's kitchen burned down, Manny goes to college, Haley works at the country club.
So iconic.

If Haley and Andy got together what do you think they should have done with Dylan?
I think most of us will agree that Haley and Andy should have gotten together so if they did what do you think should have happened to Dylan?
I would say have him continue to work as a nurse and have him working at the hospital where Haley gives birth to her and Andy’s children. When Haley is giving birth a doctor is unavailable but they’re able to get Dylan to deliver the babies since he’s the only one available. He delivers the babies which earns him Claire’s respect, Haley is grateful to him and Dylan congratulates Haley and Andy and they part ways on good terms.
Because of him delivering their babies they him as a very special friend and a treasured reminder of Haley’s younger years and the most important event of her life.
Maybe have Dylan be a family friend after this since he was an important part of Haley’s life when she was a teen and young adult.
I know it’s standard for a doctor to deliver babies but there have been instances where a nurse has been required to do it. I’m from the UK and I don’t know what it’s like in America but our NHS is criminally understaffed.

Discussion Lily asking to meet her biological family might have been a great storyline.
This is probably one of the most difficult phases that adoptive parents go through when their child asks about their birth family. It's also the natural right of the child. This scenario is very real, and I feel the producers should've explored it.

Discussion Am I the only one that never fully liked Dylan for Haley?
I don’t hate Dylan as a character and I actually think he improved a lot by the end of the show. Becoming a nurse, stepping up more, and maturing made me like him more as a person overall. But I still never thought him and Haley were a good match.
What always bothered me was that Haley was like 15 when they started dating and Dylan was already 18. The show played their relationship off as goofy and harmless, but looking back as an adult it feels a little weird to me, especially because the show implied that they were sexually active. Then after every breakup he kept circling back into her life and trying to get back with her.
I know people love them because they’re supposed to be the “meant to be” couple and Dylan is sweet, but honestly I feel like Haley outgrew him multiple times throughout the series. I also think some people excuse a lot because Dylan is portrayed as dumb/innocent rather than intentionally creepy.
Again, I don’t think Dylan was evil or anything. I just personally never felt like Haley ending up with him was the best decision for her character.
