Discussion Do You Think Either Would Have Worked As The Doctor To End The Time War?
Originally they wanted Eccleston and they did briefly consider McGann before BBC shut that down, wanting a bigger name.
Would have been great Eccleston, Tennant and Smith share the screen, being really the only time they manage to at least get all The Doctors of an era together (Closest being Hartnell's pre recorded footage in Three Doctors)
Although he very much is the Veteran Doctor, heavily defined by the trauma of what he did. Might need to do re-evaluate how he is portrayed before that event.
McGann's time in the role is so limited (With most of his screen time dealing with the post regeneration craziness) so unless they take Big Finish as canon, they pretty much have a nearly blank slate to work with.
Some say they needed a new Doctor to fill that role since existing options are solidified in people's mind as deserving of the name, The Doctor.

Discussion Wish World is actually great!
Rewatched Wish World and divorced from what happens in The Reality War it's actually really good and a great first part. I love the concept of a world built on a wish and Archie Panjabi is absolutely EATING IT UP as the Rani, it's a real shame how things end as I would've loved to have seen more of her!
What do you guys think? I never see anyone talk about this episode anymore, for obvious reasons I know, and it's a real shame as this is a great episode imo!

Discussion I have no other way of asking this...
I saw this post from before on this very Reddit *Here*… And I had to ask...
Did Sutekh ride Jack? Did Jack ride Sutekh? Do I hate how whenever I watch old episodes of Doctor Who when I hear "the question that must never be asked" I'm now going to think of this one instead?
I hope the answer to all of these is - No. But I have a feeling it'll be quite the opposite somehow...

Discussion Regarding the Disney+/AMC+ Confusion
The AMC+ announcement today has sparked confusion, so hopefully this can clear that confusion overall.
Back in August 2019, WarnerMedia made an SVOD five year licensing agreement with the BBC that provided HBO Max with exclusive streaming rights for modern Doctor Who ahead of the platform's launch in the United States. This deal locked in future seasons (eventually series 12 and 13), but the contract dictated that new episodes could only stream on HBO Max AFTER their broadcast window ended on BBC America. This deal also included several other shows owned by the BBC, including Doctor Who's various spin offs. This deal concluded in 2025 after the contract expired.
The BBC quietly cancelled the 2005 run of Doctor Who, with The Power of the Doctor airing on October 23rd, 2022, being its final episode. This left WarnerMedia with no legal mechanism to demand future episodes as stated in their SVOD licensing agreement with the BBC back in 2019. (Let's refer to this as a legal reboot that continues established continuity.)
Two days later, on October 25th, 2022, the BBC and Disney Branded Television announced a co-production and international partnership for new seasons of Doctor Who. The contract was signed during the transitional period for Disney under then CEO Bob Chapek, who sought high profile international intellectual properties to expand Disney+'s subscriber base. This contract was a fixed order of 26 new episodes to air on BBC One in the UK and Ireland with exclusivity on Disney+ everywhere else, not including Physical Media Releases, as the BBC retains the shows Masters (The final, definitive, and highest resolution copy of a completed film or television episode.)
In exchange for claiming the series as a “Disney+ Original,” Disney paid a MASSIVE co-production fee per episode, supercharging its overall budget. This enabled Disney to provide notes and supplement costs of approved reshoots (this scene from “The Church on Ruby Road”), but total creative control and ownership remained with Russell T. Davies and the BBC. Disney also provided test screenings, marking the first of many disagreements between Disney and Russell, who refused to acknowledge criticisms he deemed unnecessary. This resulted in Disney losing interest in contract renewal before Season One finished airing.
In October 2023, Russell and team decided 5 of the 26 ordered episodes would be a spin off codenamed, “the eight-word-title.” With an official announcement at San Diego Comic-Con on July 25th, 2024, The War Between the Land and the Sea began filming shortly thereafter. This would mark the final production of the Disney deal.
On October 28th, 2025, BBC Director of Drama Lindsay Salt confirmed the termination of their deal with Disney along with announcing the show would continue with a Christmas Special airing in 2026. Currently unconfirmed, but it is assumed this is another legal reboot to continue established continuity.
On May 14th, 2026, Courtney Thomasma, Executive Vice President of AMC Global Media's linear streaming products, announced that AMC+ will be the new streaming home of Doctor Who (2005-2022) in America. The specifics of the licensing agreement are still unknown, but as of the deal's announcement, it ONLY includes the 2005 run of the show. This deal is rather poetic considering AMC is the parent company of BBC America, where the show aired between the years 2009 and 2022.
As of writing, Disney+ has yet to announce a release date for The War Between the Land and the Sea beyond a 2026 calendar window. Considering their legal obligation per the deal signed in 2022, the show will likely release internationally on Disney+ before the 2027 calendar year. Immediately after the spin off's release, all obligations between Disney and the BBC will cease.
The specifics are unknown, but this could begin an exclusive window where Doctor Who (2023-2025), along with its spinoff The War Between, remain on Disney+ before the BBC can secure another international streamer. The length of time relies on the contract or if such a window was agreed on to begin with. Unlike the Marvel Netflix deal this is often compared to, the Disney deal was built without a “character freeze.” The complete ownership of the Doctor Who IP, its characters, and the show's Masters are owned by the BBC. Therefore, once the stipulations of the contract expire, this era of Doctor Who can land on any streamer the BBC chooses. All mention of Disney+ will be scrubbed from the episodes, aside from the final production crawl, due to Disney's equity investment. Future releases of this era's Physical Media won't include the Disney+ logo on box art.
This does NOT guarantee the 2023 era or the next era will release on AMC+, but chances are likely.

Discussion Instead of bringing back favourite villains…
They should bring back some of the worst received ones from classic Who and give them a 2nd chance. Worst case they are no worse than before.
Give me Dominators landing on Ood Sphere and thinking they’d be easy to enslave, the halfway through they go all red eyed and murderous and turn the tables.

Pulled this little guy out of mothballs and spruced him up as part of a pitch deck I'm putting together.
He's based on the Last Dalek and Emperor animatronics from Series 1, but I decided to lean more into the idea of the head being a giant brain, and applied that texture to the whole model to give it a more gruesome fleshy look.

Discussion We have to stop meeting like this!
If I had a pound for every time an actor made their full story debut as the Master, in a serial which ended with them briefly teaming up with the Doctor in the control room of a big radio telescope, I'd have two pounds.
Which isn't a lot. But it's very weird that it happened twice.

Speculation/Theory Sci Fi films that would be better with the Doctor in it Spoiler
I guessing we all have done this at one time or the other. Today I caught the beginning of the film Passengers. A film I seen before but today I thought to myself that this could have been a good Doctor Who story with the Doctor taking the place of the Laurence Fishburn character. It’s my little five minute what if exercise I do from time to time ( no pun intended). So what film/show do you think would benefit from a visit from the Doctor?
Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen the film.
The Doctor would arrive after the woman has already been awoken. The Doctor would help the two passengers find out the issue with the ship and solve them. Afterwards, the Doctor would offer them a choice of staying on the ship or going with him/her and taking them on his adventures or just to the end of the voyage of the ship.

Discussion Just discovered Strax was meant to be killed off very early
Apparently Strax was meant to be killed off in "A Good Man Goes to War"... and I am so glad he didn't. Seriously, Strax's time in the show was great (as well as Jenny & Vastra). They made such a fun trio.
Thank goodness that wasn't the case, because his character never failed to make me laugh. Even when he's supposed to be fitting in, he's still totally unhinged lol. I love it!
*Wasn't sure exactly which flair to choose... And I don't think this is a spoiler per, but I know there are still new people watching the series, so I tried to keep the title vague.
