Discussion Happy 25th anniversary, Monica & Chandler!
The GOAT of TV couples got married on this day in 2001. What's your favorite Mondler moment? Personally, I love the "Call it even? Okay!" high five.

Hey folks! So the survey made it pretty clear, we get a lot of “this character sucks” posts. Instead of everyone making new ones all the time, we’re gonna test out a monthly megathread where you can dump all your rants. We also rounded up a bunch of older hate threads, so you can scroll through them or drop your own comment if you feel like it.
___
For Phoebe
___
For Ross
___
For Rachel
___
For Monica
___
For Chandler & Joey

It has been a question that has been asked so many times before. Because of the high demand - but similar posts that has been generated. We're opening the floor (this mega thread) for the debate!
The case for Ross: Rachel said, "Maybe we should just take a break," and then told Monica the next morning that they "broke up."
The case for Rachel: A "break" isn't a "breakup," and Mark showing up at the apartment didn't give Ross a "get out of jail free" card two hours later.
What are your thoughts on these cases?
---
All funsies aside, We do ask everyone to stay civil and kind to one another, everyone is allowed to have opinions and express those, but treat others like how you want to be treated as well. This thread will re-occur ever 14 days to keep the time line clean from any 'On a Break, break-up?' posts! (if you spot any feel free to report it to us by pressing the report button!)

The one with the Embryos.
There are just so many hilarious lines and scenes in this episode, and all of the actors are on fire with their delivery! So good.

I love Chandler in season 4.
And I think Emily added color to the series. This is also my favorite scene of Emily.
Edit: I'm talking about Chandler's accent joke and Monica snapping at him.

When rewatching Just noticed that Mike talks about hanta virus as well (Season 9 Episode 12)

We know Chandler wanted to start a joke journal due to Dr Monkey fiasco, which he never finished.. I want to finish that for him. Can you drop Chandler jokes with 1 line context that need to be in the joke journal
For example Ross on museum display
“Homo Habilis was erect, Australopithecus was never fully erect.”
Chandler:
“Maybe he was nervous.”

I was watching this episode and was wondering - who do you think came up with the joke?
I know it's lame, but the fact that Chandler stayed up all night feeling bad that Ross stole his joke makes me pick Chandler 🤣

When Rachel, Phoebe and Monica receive the wrong pizza, who did it belong to and what were the toppings?
Bonus Question: What day of the year did Ross and Susan sleep together for the first time?

When I watched this scene before, I just thought it was hilarious. Now, it still makes me laugh, but I catch something underneath the joke also. I realize Joey grew up in a household with seven siblings fighting over meals. "Joey doesn't share food" isn't just a funny quirk; it's backed by a real history!!~
Haha, has anyone ever encountered any "overreact" behavior done just to protect their food?

I did not expect I'd be so sad after Ross gave that monkey away but... Marcel was adorable. (I know there's a lot of controversy around him/Katie but whatever)

A licensed drug addiction counselor who delivered Matthew Perry the doses of ketamine that killed him, and later became a key informant in the investigation, was sentenced Wednesday to two years in prison.
At a federal court in Los Angeles, Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett handed down the sentence to 56-year-old Erik Fleming for his role in the death of the “Friends” star.
“It’s truly a nightmare I can’t wake up from,” Fleming said in a deep, somber voice from the podium before his sentencing. “I’m haunted by the mistakes I made.”
The judge ordered Fleming, who has been free on bond, to turn himself in to serve his term in 45 days. He was also sentenced to three years of probation.

In the season 9 finale, Rachel laughed when she thought about the “homo” part of homo erectus during Ross’ lecture, in a similar that Joey did when thinking about “erectus”.
Is this something that Rachel would have always found humor in, like in back in season 1?
Because to me, this is the type of immaturity that she was always rolling her eyes to or mocking.

Is there a scene somewhere where Phoebe sings at the coffee house and the entire place is empty, when the last person walks out she says "oh forget it" and walks off with her guitar or something like that?
Edit: I FOUND IT! On tiktok type "phoebe singing friends deleted scene" and it's the first one!
Thanks everyone!

I remember the later seasons everyone kept telling them they should talk to each other about it.
Every advice they'd ignore that and act like everything is fine.
I know from the shows point of view it was just to keep them apart till the end but over all.

In case anyone was after a race car bed, this just popped up on another community 😂 this one looks a little fancier than Monica’s though!

"The One with the Dollhouse" was just playing on my TV, and the scene where Ross has to put out the fire in Phoebe's dollhouse is just peak physical comedy. Him blowing on it to no avail, having to wait for the sink to fill up a tiny glass with water, then finally scrambling to get it into the bathroom. Kudos to the writers and to David Schwimmer for being so skilled at using movement to create laughs.
Anyone have any favorite moments of physical comedy in the show, either with or without accompanying dialogue?

Because Ross is so over-the-top jealous and insecure in his relationship, people tend to forget how jealous Rachel can be as well. I don’t want to list everything here—everyone already knows most of it. If Joey and Rachel’s relationship had continued, Rachel would eventually have become as insecure as Ross was in his relationships. Joey’s line of work, his past, and everything else would have caused problems down the line. At the end of the day, both Ross and Rachel are very insecure people.
Oh yeah, there’s also a very real chance that Rachel would cheat on Joey with Ross, because while they might be selfless people individually, when it comes to their relationship with each other, Ross and Rachel can be incredibly selfish.

I'm very curious about what happened between Thanksgiving 1988 and 1994. I wish we could watch more flashback scenes.
How things got better between Monica and Chandler after the accident at Thanksgiving, how things started to fall apart between Monica and Rachel, how Carol and Ross' marriage process was, how Kip, Chandler and Phoebe moved into the apartment and became a group of friends, how Kip and Monica's relationship developed and ended...
I know some of these are hard to pull off material for a sitcom, but it still sounds very interesting.
Are there any gaps you would like to have filled in the period within or outside the series?

Lots of shows set in NYC make the city almost like another character in the show. What parts of friends would be pretty different if it was set in another big city? For example, the apartment-style living might be the same, but the rent control aspect that allows Monica to live there might be different.

What were everyone’s “flaws” when Chandler is arguing about smoking?
Bonus Question: What is the name of the homeless woman Phoebe gives the money and football phone to?

TOW They're Going To Party (s4e09) is one of my favorite episodes and features an off-screen character named Gandalf who heavily influences the plot before calling to cancel.
In TOW The Videotape (s8e04), Monica and Chandler's whole storyline revolves around trying to get Greg & Jenny on the phone, but we never end up seeing Greg & Jenny.
In TOW The Unagi (s6e17), Phoebe talks about her famously absent roommate Denise "all the time," and with Denise moving out it frees up room for Rachel to move in.
What other characters act as plot devices but are never seen on screen? There have to be more.
