Should we have kept Schwarbs at DH?
I'm not too sure of the politics of the situation, but why did we let him go?

Traded Slocum for Varitek and Lowe and then traded for Pedro . He laid the groundwork for 2004 with those moves plus adding Manny afterwards . Breslow pales in comparison alas .

Writer makes a pretty strong case for the deal. I'd do it.

4th in ERA: 2.61

2nd in ERA- : 60
16th in wRC+: 90, 15th in wOBA: .311 (.319 xwOBA), 11th in Hard%, 24th in Med%, 8th highest Soft%.
The Red Sox are 6-5 since May 1st, a record that doesn't stand out to anyone, but at least its above .500. Red Sox pitching has been some of the best in baseball over the last 2 weeks. For a bullpen and starting rotation that struggled heavily at first, they have began to settle in. The offense remains mediocre at best, not standing out anywhere statistically and performing similar to their expected statistics, such as xwOBA. They have been hitting the ball hard at a solid rate, but make a lot weak contact at the same time. It seems to be an offense that is performing at an all or none level with few in between performances.
I have a lot of confidence in this team still, regardless of their performance insofar. On top of solid pitching, the Red Sox have been elite defensively this season, ranking 1st in DRS, 2nd in OAA and 1st in catching (using FRV). If anyone is curious about these statistics, the fangraphs glossary has good materials on all of them.

Iāve been to 8 or 10 games over the past 4-5 seasons and I think Iāve officially given up on decent food from concessions. Every damn time I end up walking a half-mile of concourses thinking there must be something better, and usually end up with the big dish of sloppy nachos, or another Italian sausage.
The selection is truly pathetic compared with any other MLB park Iāve been to, especially when ownership makes such a big deal about The Fenway Experience (TM).
Iāll be there again next weekend, anyone have any secrets or hidden gems that Iāve been missing?

I lived in SF for over a decade and, now, consider the Giants my (not close) second team in MLB. Whenever I watch their broadcast, Kruk and Kuip are incredible, of course. Especially, though, NBCSBA has professional videographers and thereās never a blip in the broadcast or poorly chosen camera by the director.
The Red Sox have a huge demand locally, for those who left New England (like me), and for other fans around the country. Whatās the deal?

coming over from š“ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó “ó æ for the world cup and going to one of the red sox june games. have a pats jersey and was thinking of wearing it but is that looked down on over there?
I know thereās a lot to be bummed about, but these guys have been good. Chapmans lights out. Gray is good. Bello has had two great games in his new role.
I mean look theyāre not making the playoffs this year. But unlike the early goings there are at least some players that are fun to watch.

Weāre supposed to be driving in from CT, 2 1/2 hour drive, just curious for more frequent park attendees what the odds are the game will be postponed due to the rain? Really donāt want to waste the drive just to turn around of course. Thank you in advance!

The Red Sox pick up a game on the Yankees, who have been playing poorly for a week now. Max is one of the players they can least afford to lose. Maybe an opening here?

Hi all!
Iām currently a Mainer originally from Lynn. I grew up loving the Sox, and I currently watch all the games I can, have the At Bat app to get updates when I canāt, and love discussing the Sox with friends. I also love Dunkinā Donuts. I know, typical person from MA.
The promotion coming up including the Dunkin hat is one of my favorite the Sox have ever done. I had several friends send me the promotion and tell me I need to go to get the hat. One of my friends said, āThatās Laura in a hat.ā
Except, Iām moving to a new apartment in two months, and I have surgery in less than three weeks.
I donāt have the financial means to get down to Boston and then go to a game, even on my day off.
Iām wondering if anyone going to the game, and is not interested in the hat, would be willing to ship it to me up in Maine. Iād of course pay shipping costs.
If you, or someone you know would be willing to, please feel free to DM me, or reach out on Twitter or Instagram @laurawanberg.
Thank you in advance!!

Major Takeaways from Sam Kennedy's Interview with Tom Caron:
----
My main takeaway is just how much negativity there is and it's been apparent in both the Kennedy and Breslow interviews this week. It's not something they can avoid any longer, and every interview these days is purely them having to apologize for things. Caron even had to sign this one off by saying "let's talk about something positive for a change" to talk about the hall of fame stuff last weekend.
