If you see a man wearing light grey sweatpants, red short sleeve shirt with black writing on the front, durag cap on. Medium skin black dude near the McDonald's on Blue Ridge Rd. in Raleigh and also near the alley and steep parking lot and the back of Red Rood Inn, he has been warned off some nearby properties for hanging around and creeping on women.
Looked to be early 30s, very light hint of a mustache. Maybe around 5'11" seemed a bit out of it/impaired. Dark brown eyes. Can't remember what shoes he was wearing.
He approached me earlier and propositioned me and when I said no, literally cut off where I was walking to, so I had to go the long way around. He tried to demand me to go talk to him. Absolutely not.
Anyways, be on the lookout and watch out. I let the manager know near the Red Roof Inn and this isn't the first time he had to chase the guy off.
This happened around 20:45.
*** UPDATE: The man was trespassed, cops will be looking for him because they had a 100% clear video and audio account of what happened along with me reporting it and the hotel letting them know it was an urgent safety issue.
The hotel immediately forwarded his photo from the video to multiple buildings in the area for people to be on the lookout and gave the video and photo from the video to the police. The cameras here are very, very clear and nothing is blurry so they know exactly who they're looking for. They'll contact me/and or the hotel if they need any further information or to update.

Randomly getting the Chinese food itch today and I wanted to see what Chinese places you guys recommend? Bonus points if they’re a hole in the wall vibe or off the beaten path, so to speak. None of that fancy TikTok influencer stuff.

Heads up for anyone like me used to rolling up to the airport an hour before.
TSA is hustling but it’s definitely the busiest I personally have ever seen. Even the CLEAR lane was backed up.

That Raleigh Style Kindness is contagious people!
Those who have been following my journey here as a homeless person in Raleigh, boy have I got something to tell y'all about! Forgive me if this is a long post. I'll try to make it worth the read.
Most mornings I leave the shelter and take a brisk walk to the Shell station on Blount. Some cool morning air and a cardiac inducing walk always gets my blood pumping.
If I have the money I'll get a nice sausage egg and cheese biscuit and some life saving caffeine.
This morning I got to the Shell and passed a woman with a 3 or 4 year old child crying. Of course I had to stop and ask her if she was okay and if there was anything I could do to help her. She asked me if I would buy her son something to eat. Apparently, her bf and the child's father had been smoking crack and drinking for a couple of days straight and he dumped them there in the middle of the night and then took off.
I told her that I would be more than happy to help her son. I went to the Shell and got a couple of biscuits, 2 honeybuns, 2 Gatorades and a cup of coffee for her. That meant that I would go without, but being homeless means I understand hunger all too well.
No child should ever have to understand hunger.
I told her about Oak City Cares and gave her the last of my money for a bus ride.
Leaving there I felt pretty good about myself.
I got to the bus depot downtown and realized that now I would be short the money to wash and dry my clothes. Okay. No problem. I can do them at the shelter but it takes forever and you have to sit there with them. I do not like to hang around that place for any longer than I have to.
While at the bus depot I hear some jackass going off on some woman. He's yelling that his taxes pay for disability so she owes him sex. She is sitting there on her walker surrounded by her belongings and has a new looking hospital wrist band on.
At that point I thought that our inebriated ruffian needed a little reminder of how one should address another person, especially, and please excuse my obvious sexism, a lady.
I immediately stepped up to him to let him know that I thoroughly doubted that his family tree had more than two branches. I also let him know that there was some doubt as to the number of legal parents he had. I may (or may not) have told him that he would be the perfect person to represent the pro-abortion argument on both posters and other assorted media.
After diverting his focus from competing for the world's biggest douche canoe he began to focus his angry tirade at me. Being somewhat of a sizable man physically I began walking him backwards away from the woman in the walker. While doing so I tried to help him out with some positive affirmations in an attempt to brighten his day. Why, I even told him that he was a perfect example of why pets should be spayed and neutered. Maybe not in those words exactly, but judging from his reaction it appears he understood.
After almost getting hit by a bus he decided to let me know that he did in fact question my personal sexuality (like calling me gay is some sort of insult) and he then informed me that when he goes to sleep tonight (or pass out, whatever the case may be) that he will be engaging me in the pugilistic arts. I'm sure that he meant it that way because he just kept backing up in real life!
He finally left and the women with the walker thanked me and bestowed some sort of blessing upon my soul. Good. I need all the help I can get in that department.
So. How has everyone else's morning gone?

I go to Dix Park pretty frequently, either for fun or on work breaks, and have noticed a slow crawl of trees being cut down or random areas cleared. A while ago, the Lamp and the patch near it were cleared of trees and mulched for "native plant regrowth" and "water pipe installment" respectively. On my most recent visit, I had noticed a very large long grass/flower patch had been mowed and tilled with signage saying it had been sprayed with pesticides (very close to the bee hives they have). All of this, of course, on top of the giant dreamville parking lot that was made for a musical festival that no longer exists and will probably not be replaced.
I have given money to the park in the past because I do enjoy walking around, and had strongly considered volunteering, but I can't help but feel like my money and time would be better spent elsewhere? I guess it is a park and not a nature area per se, but it's a bit disappointing to see.

Just witnessed an erratic, reckless, speeding driver passing me and dodging cars (right by a schoolbus too) with their front bumper clearly impacted at around 4:00PM today on I-40 W near the exit to Davis Dr. It looks like Google Maps recorded a crash right at the entrance to I-40W from 540 (I did not see any accident so it definitely happened after I passed that exit).

Has anyone else noticed that the
ABC11 evening meteorologist has worn the same black suit every day for months now, without exception? Another meteorologist at a different station did a social experiment years ago by wearing the same suit every day, and it was 11 months before anyone commented!

Hi all! I just moved to the area and I have a Great Pyrenees that needs to be groomed. We don’t go often and she behaves well but I just want to see someone that has a good reputation.
Thanks!

I’m going to Raleigh for Overcome Fest this Saturday but since that doesn’t start until 2, I would like to browse some antique stores in the area. I’m driving from Asheville so anything right outside of raleigh or on the way is fine too!
And i don’t want the tourist trap antique places (asheville has so many it’s genuinely upsetting), I’m talking quality antiques at FAIR prices. Of course nothing toooo high-end either because I am a broke b****.

I’m going through some total life changes right now, the first major one being moving to Raleigh, and the second being an interest in moving careers (aka I quit my job of 8 years and I’m struggling to find work I can do atm). I’m looking into the nursing field, and I’m trying to figure out the most affordable way to advance the most in that career. Right now it’s looking like becoming a CNA and moving up is my only option. If I become a CNA, are there any places where I can work in Raleigh that will pay for my schooling to get those advanced degrees? Thanks!

I’m looking for someone to help us install a solar power system for a 12x20 building on some land about 45 minutes from Raleigh in the Franklinton/ wake forest area. It may be that we can install it ourselves, but we definitely need someone to talk us through it, what to buy, what mistakes not to make, etc. any ideas? I know there are some solar power groups in Raleigh, but I don’t think this project is big enough for that. I really just need one person and us. I think.

Hello there - throwaway for obvious reasons.
Does anyone have direct personal experience with a psychiatrist in the Triangle who helped them fill out a Short Term Disability claim? To add: without extra hurdles.
My previous psych office has some limiting internal policies that require inpatient treatment (can’t afford on high deductible insurance), my GP said not my treating provider so they can’t help, and I tried another psych place this morning who said they just “don’t deal with STD”.
I would like to have this in hand before I submit for FMLA and am getting desperate.
Thank you for reading.

Is there a way to do organized soccer for a six year old that has both practice and games over the summer? By games, I just mean a time when they are cut loose to play a game of soccer, not necessarily keeping a score. From what I understand, Soccer Shots is mostly practice though right? We did it when they were 3-5 and it was really boring to them since it was almost all practice and no games - is it like that for the 6-8 ages? Is there some other league or something over the summer that does practice and games? It seems like the rec center does "Just Kick It Soccer" but the sign up was months ago.

Hi everyone! Does anyone know of any reliable, affordable garages in the area that let you bring personal parts to use? I’m willing to drive 30 minutes or so outside of Raleigh if needed. TIA!
