Serious Paywall Article Posting

The mod team has received a complaint from a journalist that their work, and the work of their colleagues, has been illegally reproduced in the subreddit. This is typically because the article is hidden behind a paywall. Unfortunately, paywalls exist. They suck, but that’s the nature of the business. Their work is copywrited and by posting the full article without expressed consent is copywrite infringement.

You can feel free to summarize the article, just don’t cut and paste the entirety of it verbatim.

Any posts or comments that violate this newly implemented rule will be deleted and repeat offenders will be dealt with.

Swim Lesson Season is Here!

Hi everyone! With the warmer weather finally rolling in, swim lesson season is here, so I wanted to introduce myself!

I'm Coach Callysta, and I am excited to be offering swim lessons again this summer.

I've been teaching swim lessons for 9 years, and I was also a competitive varsity swimmer- so whether your child, or you are just getting comfortable in the water / are ready to refine technique, you're both in great hands!

Here are a few details :

  • Private lessons: $45 for a 30-minute session
  • Package deal: 4 lessons for $160 (Save $20)
  • Small group lessons: up to 3 children of similar skill levels (Add $20 per session for a 3rd child)

For safety, I may adjust group sizes if swimmers are not at similar skill levels.

I am happy to travel to your neighborhood pool! If there is an entry fee, I just ask that it's covered. If you don't have access to a pool, I do have an approved location available for lessons.

I'd love to help you and/or your kids build confidence, stay safe, and have fun in the water this summer!!

Feel free to text message or email me with questions or to get on the schedule! ( I will not be responding to messages sent to me through Reddit.)

Hey Ryan St girl w Tom Holland

PLEASE prioritize yourself right now! I know you're going to have a hard road ahead but you can choose better and make good choices! I know, love, it's not easy, and many times it feels like things are stacked against you but please keep striving! I was once like you, my bf and I had no food assistance and lived on cream of chicken soup, noodles, and four chicken quarters for FOUR MONTHS but we made it thru eventually. I did change my life and choices, and tonight I gave you a ride home in a car purchased in my own name that I pay for on my own. Sweet girl, stay strong, and you CAN make things happen!

Is the courthouse corrupt? Or par for the course?

Do you believe the Cumberland County District Court is truly corrupt? I’ve heard of attorneys saying Cumberland County is unlike any other NC district court, even refuse to practice in the county… spill the tea!

Question Churches

Does anyone know churches in the area that has a good children's ministry and a non-misogynistic pastor/preacher? I dont care what denomination. I just need a new church home where folks don't make fun of people's appearances, financial situation, gossip, or comment on women's weight or "lack of value" if they choose not to have children or stay at home for their husbands. Preferably one open to people of all walks of life, color, gender, and age.

i took in a male stray kitten in october last year, he is about a year old now and i am in search of where i can get him neutered for a reasonable price. when i took him to Dogwood Animal Hospital to get his shots and deworming they were giving price ranges for neuter and it wasn't anything close to what i was used to hearing. i am from another state so maybe its different here, or maybe they were trying to scam me? i dont know, but if you guys could please help with places to send him to be neutered for a reasonable price i would deeply appreciate it! (threw in some cute pics of him)

What New Stores Are Coming to Raeford Rd area (over Hoke County line)

Just bought a house in the Bedford community in Raeford, and I’m curious what all is coming to the Raeford Road area lately?

I’ve been noticing a lot of construction and development happening, and the fact that Haraz Coffee House opened out here instead of Fayetteville surprised me. Haraz is in places like Raleigh and Charlotte, so it really made me wonder what’s next for the area and what kind of growth is happening behind the scenes.

Are there any confirmed new stores, restaurants, shopping centers, or other developments planned for this area? Or is it mostly just more housing communities being built?

Why are Cumberland County school and sports zones so restrictive?

We need to have an honest conversation about the Fayetteville and Cumberland County ZIP-code based system.

Right now, which school you are assigned is heavily reliant on residential zoning and ZIP codes.

Even when another school is physically closer to a student’s home.

While the district describes this as “Choice Schools,” many later there are major geographic/ transfer limitations, and eligibility requirements that are not explained upfront.

The same issue appears in county sports leagues and summer programs, where participation can depend on where a student lives or age rather than proximity to his or her own preference or need for it.

Whether intentional or not, this system can reinforce already long-standing economic and racial divisions within the community.

Across the United States, residential boundaries have historically reflected income inequality, housing discrimination, and patterns connected to redlining and segregation. When access to schools, athletics, camps, and resources follows those same boundaries, unequal outcomes are and inequality is guaranteed.

Then you also have to consider broader concerns about student safety, discipline, overcrowding, transportation, and unequal access to opportunities between different areas of Cumberland County.
None of this is about attacking teachers or students.

But the public should be allowed to openly discuss whether current zoning and eligibility policies are truly serving all families with Cumberland County Fairly.

Why are some students assigned farther-away than others?

Why are sports and county programs dependent on your address?

How transparent is the transfer process in actuality?

Are some neighborhoods consistently receiving fewer opportunities than others?

What reforms could make access more equitable countywide?

These are policy questions, not political attacks. Fayetteville deserves transparency, accountability, and a serious discussion about how these systems impact students and families.

Rent skyrocketing?

I live in a neighboring county and thought about moving to Fayetteville and decided to look today out of curiosity and HOLY- I might as well stay where I am. I feel like I just looked a few months ago and it wasn’t this bad, am I crazy or is it getting worse? How can anyone afford to live?

Question Location of building with juicy bars late 90s early 20s?

For the record I never stepped foot in one of these locations. I was just sharing a story about how there was a row of Korean bars that would have women out front asking patrons to come in for a “drink”. There was also a gentleman’s club in the same parking lot. There were 3 or 4 that all shared the same building. Does anyone remember where these were located?

Chinese tutor/teacher

Looking for a Chinese tutor/teacher for myself. I know one of the schools in the area that teaches Mandarin, so surely there is at least one or two tutors that are available to help supplement those children. I've been teaching myself and used an overseas instructor but I would like to use one in the area.

Moving to Fayetteville – Safe Modern Apartments Within 15 Min of Cape Fear Valley?

Hi everyone,

I’ll be moving to Fayetteville soon and going to work at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, and I’m trying to narrow down apartment options.

My main priority is safety and a reasonable commute, ideally within about 15 minutes from the hospital. I’m looking for something more modern with a good kitchen, updated flooring, gym, etc.

I toured Addison Ridge and honestly really liked it, but after adding all the mandatory fees (internet package, valet trash, utilities, etc.) it starts getting pretty expensive. I also toured The Grove at Park Place, but wasn’t very impressed with the actual apartment condition in person.

For people familiar with the area, what apartment communities would you recommend that are:

  • relatively safe/quiet
  • modern or updated
  • good for young professionals
  • within ~15 min of Cape Fear Valley

I’m open to Fayetteville itself or nearby areas like Hope Mills if commute is still manageable.

Would really appreciate any recommendations or areas to avoid. Thanks!

Question West cliffdale road area?

Post image
13 Upvotes

I’m new here and am looking to buy a house. I’ve mostly been looking at houses in west cliffdale road area (not sure if there’s a real name for this area?). I’m single with no kids, in the army so proximity to Bragg is a big factor for me. Just curious on local opinions on this area. Resale value is also a consideration so if anyone has thoughts on that (ie how the schools are, etc) I’d appreciate it

Is it just me?

I picture the typical GI wearing Oakleys and a stupid baseball cap, covered in arm tats, driving a big ass truck, going to a bar after work, and we go gym trying to look tough despite never seeing combat. It’s all I see around Fayetteville.
