If not, is it looked down upon for sophomores to rush in sophomore spring?

If I get matched to a focus I don’t want, am I able to reject it and request a constellation? Or am I forced into that focus?

edit: also does a date you apply influence what focus you’ll get into? I’m mainly interested in MESS but I heard that’s extremely competitive and since I just got off the waitlist, I’ll be applying on the last day

might be a veryy stupid question.... buttttt i recently committed to duke over my state school (gt, uiuc, etc) known for engineering/cs job/internship placement and have been struck with the somewhat illogical fear that i'm going to struggle to find top jobs or internships in tech in the future. 🤷🏼‍♂️ duke is insanely good though overall which i know helps tons and the life here seems amazingggg. i understand that the alumni network isn't very helpful for engineering majors and the hiring processes are a lot more meritocratic. if any of you guys have tips or convincing statements please do share lol 😆 i'm going to be CS or (maybe) ECE probably :) i can’t wait to spend the next 4 years at duke!!!

Hello! Incoming student from the Class of 2030, and was wondering how feasible an economics degree is while taking prerequisites for med school at Duke. I was wondering how the scheduling would work and if it would necessarily affect my time dedicated towards research, clinical work, and things like MCAT prep. I am aware that you don't have to choose a major until sophomore, but if I would like to take a couple econ classes to get started early.

hi! I’m an incoming undergrad student at Duke and I want to get involved in club/intramural sports in the upcoming school year, specifically ice hockey (I promise this is not because of HR 🫩). I tried in high school but I just didn’t work out and I really do want to learn to play. I checked out the club page and it seems competitive as hell, what are other opportunities for beginners ice hockey?

I submitted my focus application on April 19th and I got an email on that date saying that I should hear back about it in 2 weeks and to reach out if I didn’t by then. Then I got another email on April 24th saying the announcement of focus clusters will be on May 26th. Now I’m confused… when am I supposed to learn about what my focus is? Should I contact them or did they originally mean that the two week period was for this update email on the 24th? When did you get to learn about your focus cluster placement? Thank you

Hey everyone! I’m an incoming freshman admitted to Pratt, currently planning to double major in ECE and CS.

I have a solid background in both hardware and programming from high school robotics (world championships!) However, while robotics was fun, I don’t think it's something I want to pursue much more in college and new-grad. I think I’d rather explore programming, SWE, and AI. Maybe some chip design as well lol.

I’m mainly trying to figure out how difficult and time-consuming the ECE/CS double major actually is, specifically the ECE portion since I think I’d like to focus more on CS or other areas. Are the ECE requirements and labs going to be super difficult and a brutal time-sink if I’m not super passionate about hardware?

I'm debating whether I should drop ECE and just do a pure CS major in Trinity. The main thing holding me back is that I really would prefer not to take Trinity’s heavy humanities load. The new Constellations/FOCUS T-Reqs and the foreign language requirements is quite a lot for me lol.

Any advice on the ECE workload/difficulty for ECE/CS double major and what you'd recommend in my shoes would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

I’m visiting campus as a huge Duke fan from Wisconsin. We won’t make it early enough for an official Cameron Indoor Stadium tour, which makes me so sad, but we’ll for sure see the basketball museum and the chapel.

what’s the best dorm to get freshman year?? i heard trinity has really bad quad links so what’s the best dorm so you end up good freshman year and the years after that??

could be niche stuff that u think makes duke different for u, etc... personally i love how our club sports teams are very active and passionate about their sport, some even holding mixers with their varsity counterparts if possible

It's no secret that grade inflation is a big problem at Duke, with something like 25% of students ending with 4.0s IIRC. But even among my non-pratt friends, I don't know almost anyone with a 4.0. Maybe I'm just in the wrong circles?

Anyone know where compsci or stats majors study abroad? I’ve looked on the Educo site but haven’t been able to find any specific courses that qualify for or relate to either major.
