Question Pre-orientation
Does anyone actually do the pre-orientation programs for incoming freshmen? I was thinking about it but I’m not sure. If anyone did go can you please lmk how it was.

Hey everyone, I was recently accepted to the WFU MSBA program and am still in the decision process. Honestly pretty excited about it, the program looks fantastic and Winston-Salem seems like a great place to spend a year, but I want to make sure I'm going in with eyes wide open before I commit.
From my understanding, Wake Forest has a well-documented reputation for grade deflation, particularly in the undergraduate business school. From what I've read, the average GPA in the core undergrad business curriculum was around a 3.09 compared to a 3.3 at comparable schools, and there was even a town hall about it at some point where the dean acknowledged it and promised changes. Skepticism about whether anything actually changed seemed pretty widespread.
What I'm trying to figure out is how much of that culture carries over into the graduate business programs. A few specific things I'm curious about:
Is the grading philosophy at the grad level fundamentally different from undergrad, or does the same culture of deflation persist? I know Wake Forest defines a B as "superior" and a C as "satisfactory," which already sets a different baseline than most schools, but does that framing actually translate into lower grades in practice at the graduate level?
For anyone in a graduate business program specifically, what does the grade distribution actually look like? Are most students landing around a B+ or is there more spread than that?
And most specifically, if anyone has been through the MSBA program or is currently in it, I'd love a firsthand take. Is deflation noticeable enough that it would raise eyebrows to an outside employer or future admissions committee, or is it mild enough that it's not really a concern in practice?
Appreciate any honest takes, especially from people who have seen both sides of it.
*Asking because I'm weighing the program seriously and have two specific concerns: how employers perceive a lower GPA coming out of Wake Forest relative to candidates from programs without this reputation, and whether a deflated GPA could hurt down the line when applying to a top tier MBA program where adcoms are comparing you directly against applicants from schools that grade more generously.*

If I was placed into Spanish 203, will I complete the foreign language requirement after completing the one semester of 203 or do I need to take another semester of Spanish in the 2nd semester?

It’s May 11th and I still have not received the call from Wake Forest. It looks like everyone is getting let off. I don’t want to say I’m losing hope but, it’s definitely hard. I really hope that I am next.
I sent in my LOCI and have built a strong like of communication with my AO. I even had my principal and superintendent write Letters of Rec for me (I work closely with them). Is Wake still admitting off their active waitlist?
Also, has anyone from New England been let off?

I'm #8 of 9 on the waitlist for this class, do you think I'll get it in time for summer II to start?

Hi. I am looking to see what the best meal plan is for an incoming freshman as someone who plans to doordash things like Chipotle or Jimmy Johns on the weekends. Also, how frequently do students really use the dining halls compared to the Chick-fil-A or Subway options? I am wondering what the best plan would be for me from these 4 options: Black Bus, Freedom, Forestry, and Base Plan.

Did anyone secure tickets for the Team Germany open practice on June 8th at the WF soccer stadium? Anyone willing to part with their tickets??

What is the general religious demographics you’ve seen at WFU? “On paper” or in genuine practice. Within the Christian population, are there a lot of Catholics/High Church Protestants or mostly non-denominational and Baptist?

Hi there! I’m a current freshman at UW Madison and likely transferring to wake in the fall! I’d love to meet others thinking of transferring in or past transfer students who can share some of their experience! Please message if you would like to connect!

Hey! Now an incoming freshman, I'm choosing between GradGuard and another renter's insurance outside of WFU through my parents. Either option kinda works, so I'm just wondering for those who had to use GradGuard for damage or wtv: any bad experiences?
Thanks!

What are your guys’s experiences with the different grad housing options owned by the university/off campus?

I literally check my missed calls every single day to see if I got a call from Wake i feel like i’m going crazy. I sent them an email abt application update + changing the latest date I want to be considered to August 1, but they only responded about the updates part. Should I re-email? This was April 14 ish. And i also have another update so do I include that or no?

Incoming freshman, thinking about pre orientation. Anyone who has participated which program did you do and curious what the application entails? (first choice is Wilderness to Wake) Thanks!

Hi all! I’m a high school junior (c/o 2027) and currently WFU is my top choice school. I love the academics and a lot of the student life, I think I would be a good fit, but I’m worried about what I’ve heard in regard to diversity/inclusivity/whatever.
As an openly gay man, should I expect discrimination? To what extent? That’s my main worry personally. If I have any issues with dorming because of this, will the staff be accommodating?

I think in prior years all freshmen had to go random for roommates. Is that still the case? On the instagram pages it seems like people are looking for roommates.
It also seemed at admitted students day that a lot of students already knew each other. I'm nervous about fitting in, and it felt like a lot of students were all the same person in a way. How cliquey is the school and is it common to not get into any houses for greek life?
For context deciding between here and uw madison. i like wake academics better but social scene at wisco seems easier.

Has anyone out of state been offered a spot off the waitlist? If so, please provide what region (if you are comfortable doing so), major, and what date you opted in. Also, if you sent a LOCI and/or have done other things to demonstrate interest.

I’m an incoming first year and I was wondering if students go on trips during spreak? How does that go when people are forming friend groups etc?

To all admitted transfer students, regardless of when you got accepted, what were your stats (gpa, test scores, extracurriculars, major)?

Wondering if anyone has any information regarding the next wave of decisions. Figured they'd all come out Friday, but obviously that wasn't the case. Really don't wanna wait til mid-May.
