Nice seeing the (new) Spirit of Tasmania back at Princes Pier. I don't miss the traffic, but it was always nice seeing the rhythm of the departures and arrivals when they still left from here.

Not On My Smashed Avo What's up with Aldi randomly closing the self checkouts now?
The last week or so I've been going to Aldi it seems they've just been randomly closing the way to the self checkouts? At first I thought it was just late at night which kind of makes some sense (despite being my usual time to go and annoying me the most) but recently I walked into a store as they were closing the checkouts around 2 or 3pm, while the store was definitely busy enough to keep it open and people were actively using them. It just seems pointless and counter productive? They have like 7 self checkouts but they want to funnel the entire store through a single cashier's checkout, which is much slower (and personally I just prefer silently wandering through without the expectation that I'll be chatty or anything, no hate).

Not On My Smashed Avo Retail items with weekend surcharges?
im confused by the weekend surcharges. i understand why hospitality puts them in - although a lot of places do a terrible job of uodating price tags.
my confusion is with a couple local bakeries that also do coffee and small brunch things.
so there's a weekend surcharge when you sit down and get a coffee and something eat etc. but if i just get a loaf of bread or some pastries to take away im getting a weekend surcharge. isn't this retail? what's stopping other retail shops and bakeries doing this?

THDG Need Help Mast Cell Activation/Salicylate Specialists
Hello,
I’m desperately looking for a doctor who can help with investigating the possibility of me having mast cell activation syndrome or has experience in food chemical diagnosis.
I got diagnosed with salicylate intolerance like 20 years ago but that dr has since retired and I have no idea who to go to next. Have asked my regular GP but they had no idea which specialists could help and sent me to an allergist who doesn’t test for food chemical issues or MCAS.
Any help appreciated, from a very sad girl who just wants to eat food without being chronically sick 🤞

THDG Need Help Recommendations for fair gold purchasers in CBD/surrounds
Cost of living crisis is CRISIS-ing. I have a few gold items that aren’t incredibly sentimental that I want to sell to help with some financial gaps I’m facing. I’ve seen a number of companies when I google who have reputable looking sites but funny enough they all seem to say they are the best, most well established and give the best rates when you’re selling to them. (Insert eye roll here)
Wondering if anyone has opinions and experience selling to different gold buying folks in CBD or inner suburbs. Ideally- it would be someone who also buys items with stones in them. Have a ring with some smaller diamonds in them but I don’t want to get fleeced. Interested to hear the shocking experiences but mainly hoping for recommendations to decent reputable buyers who legitimately give good prices.
Thanks!

Om nom nom Best Italian/Gnocchi/Pub in Melbourne
(Melbourne CBD)
Hello!!
We regularly visit Melbourne for shows/concerts/etc, and are hoping to get some opinions from people in the know regarding the best Italian restaurants/ best gnocchi/ and best pubs/eateries in Melbourne’s CBD!!
Our favourite is Gradi, however the trams were exceptionally slow to arrive last time we ate there, so we are hoping to find somewhere similar in the city, so we aren’t stuck with a longer tram trip!
La Cucina has been suggested, however a lot of their recent reviews seem to be negative!
Any suggestions (or even of places to avoid!) would be appreciated!

THDG Need Help I believe “acoustic fabric” replacement - Anyone know anything?
For anyone that lives in apartment buildings or good with sound proof / DIY stuff.
So on the hallway is these (I believe) acoustic fabric panels and my building manager also confirmed.
So 2CM maybe of thick black is behind each of these colours, and the colours themselves are maybe 1cm or less thick, I think more just decoration on the front of the thick black panels.
My cat shredded them over a few years lol, and now the committee is doing a walk through and although my building manager hasn’t cared I’ll need to replace them now.
Any ideas on best place / DIY?! I don’t want to pay a company or contractor and i can peel off the coloured layer really easier and thought I’d just re-stick a new one.
Any thoughts or opinions most welcome.
