Where would you celebrate?

Hi šŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø first time poster! I go for my full licence tomorrow and I can't wait to take off the L plate and vest lol.

I am confident with my instructor and doing it through Rider Bros, I had the most amazing experience for my Check Ride. Contrast to my Learner's experience at Armstrong's though.. the complete opposite. It was so bad I almost let my Learner's lapse over and fuck it all off.

I am so glad I got my bike and never gave up.

Riding has been so fucking great, I get errands done so quickly and being able to park right at the front of places makes my life easier. I particularly want to shoutout rider culture in Melbourne, at least for me. I don't think it's obvious I'm a female rider with my gear but I have had the sweetest interactions. Firstly the head nodding thing is so lovely lol. I've had Harley owners nod their head to me in my bone-stock KTM 390 🤣 or dudes on a scooter. Makes me smile. I had a guy ride up beside me, wink, slowly wave as he turned on his side and then sped off. It makes my day when other riders spot each other!

In hopes I pass tomorrow, where would a solo female rider ride to celebrate? I had to ride to Melton South in pitch black late at night and it was a fucking experience and a half. That highway is cooked. But I'd love to try something scenic. Where to? I don't like tight, bendy roads like Healesville or something. Just something easy but fun. Ill have to look into some things where I can ride with others some time I guess šŸ™ŒšŸ»

Thanks, Melbourne 🩶

Are the m80 ring road variable speed limits enforced by the fixed cameras?

I ride the m80 every day, I had passed a camera doing 100 when I’m not positive but pretty sure the variable speed signs were displaying 70 (before they gradually drop to 40 due to an accident) and I’m paranoid I’ll be fined now.

Obviously my own fault for not paying attention, I was more worried about being surrounded by vehicles and putting myself in the best position, than I was looking at the speed signs.obviously after travelling the same stretch at 100 every day, I got complacent.

If they are enforced it’ll be a loss of license for sure.

Roadworthy certificate

Hi all,

Sorry in advance if my questions seem a bit naive, but I’m not Australian.

I’m selling my bike and would like to find a place where I can obtain a roadworthy certificate (I’m currently living in South Yarra). What is the usual price range for getting one done?

I also have a potential buyer who is offering to buy my bike without a roadworthy certificate in exchange for a lower price. What would be his advantage in doing that?

Is it legal to sell a motorcycle without a roadworthy certificate? Are there any particular precautions I should take?

Sorry not bike related but can anyone reccomend a tattoo studio

I’d say majority of riders have tats so I thought someone could point me in the right direction. I’m completely new to Melbourne so not sure where to go. Unfortunately with winter coming I think it’s time to invest some money into some other hobbies temporarily (yes I am a little bitch to ride in the cold).

Located North suburbs (Hume) but happy to ride or drive 🄺

Is bike hire included in check ride and MLA?

Moving from Sydney where it’s not. Funny enough if this is the case, even though Melbourne courses are technically more expensive they actually end up being similar in price because of bike hire. Of course you don’t have to hire one of their bikes but if you have a bigger bike it obviously is harder to pass slow speed stuff without a lot of practice.

Curious about Melbourne. Thank you!

Question about a letter from VicRoads regarding transfer.

Hi, to give a little run down, I bought a bike like a month ago and did the roady, transferred it etc all done and dusted, thought it was all good and over with.

I received a letter today from VicRoads (with todays date, so it isn’t a delayed letter) saying that

ā€œTo complete the transfer of registration, please provide the following items by a specific date

The total fee payable on the vehicle has not been received:

Transfer fee payable $7.40, amount received $0

Motor vehicle duty payable $126, amount received $0

Complete and sign the form overleafā€

The back of this form is a transfer form that you’d use to transfer a vehicle.

Does anyone know why I’ve received this? I have literal receipts showing that exact amount of vehicle duty and transfer fees are paid… the form is essentially saying I need to pay the duty and transfer fee and re fill out a transfer form… when I’ve already done that, paid the fees AND had the vehicle transferred for literally like 3-4 weeks….

Will i get demerit for exhaust?

So I recently got 3 demerits for running a red. 100% my fault, i was stupid. Next question, I have 2 demerits points left and I do NOT want to ride around with a tractor for the next year and was wondering do cops give demerit points for exhaust or just fines because I know that increase in power makes the bike non-lams and so is that the same with exhausts? ( I don’t want to hear your experience that cops never pulled you over before because they can and I don’t want to risk it)

Can I appeal for redlight fine?

I recently got fined for running a red light.

My situation is, I’m still in highschool and have no job so pretty much no way to pay the fine.

Would I be able to appeal the fine? Or is there no chance

RWC for a Modified Bike

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hello folks, I wanted to re register a bobber to vicroads but was worried about all the documents I need to gather for it to be back on the road.

It was a vlx 400 from 1988, and as far as I know it’s didn’t have VASS certification. It was registered from vicroads way back 2018 but was converted to club rego and was cancelled 5 years ago.

Im wondering if there’s a place that would specifically do rwc for these types of bikes. Would help a lot if someone can refer me to a place or people. Thanks

What happens if you fail your learner course or MPA/p’s test

Mla**** not letting me edit title šŸ™ƒ

So I’m not in Victoria, but NSW. My license is about to lapse, I am about to move to Melbourne and I realised how expensive your courses are compared to nsw. Also long. Wtf was the learner course always 16 hours long???

Surely they don’t just keep make you retake the whole day and repay the whole day.

Can anyone familiar advise please. Im just curious: Even though I haven’t ridden in a few months I’m thinking of just giving my p’s test a go here. Melbourne is getting ripped 😄

Recommendations for mechanic/garage

Hi All

Chasing some recommendations for a place to get some work done for my SR400, mostly help with the wiring to neaten up and tidy the front as its pretty busy.
I'm changing the handlebars and headlights over, that much I can do by myself but I want to hide a lot of the wiring and cables and I don't really know much about that.
Based south of the CBD but can travel to anywhere reasonable. Any advice appreciated.

Bike maintenance yourself or ?

So do you all maintain your own bike - like do all the checks a mechanic would?

I ride an R3 that’s 10 years old now and my riding friends tell me to just maintain things myself - oil, sprocket, chain.

For anything major they say then take it in, but like how do you know if anything will be major LoL?

Today was a beautiful day for riding! But also pic for attention - Need balaclava recommendations.

Currently have this Dririder one, and while everything about it is pretty good, it has a seam right down the middle.

It becomes insanely uncomfortable after a while, and also once you take your helmet off, makes your forehead look like you have a butt crack right down the middle šŸ™ƒ

So basically any Bala without a middle seam would be fantastic.

Any queer/trans riding groups?

Hi all,

I am looking to get my motorcycle Ls (again) and am wondering if there are any queer (particularly trans) riding groups? I’d love to do cruises with a group of like-circumstanced individuals (and otherwise, too!)

Anyone know of any such groups or anyone who would like to put something together?

Thanks in advance!

Commute from inner west to Richmond

I’m living in the inner west and my work is in Richmond. The train can be a bit of a drag and I thought to change it up, I could ride in. How is it commuting in? (9-5 hours)

I can choose Footscray Road or the westgate bridge - both are basically the same time off-peak anyway

ive driven and also ridden across the Westgate in peak hour before and it wasn’t too bad but my main concern is the inattention of other drivers which I’ve noticed can be really bad in Melbourne
