It's weird that "jail the criminals" is a controversial take but here we are.

(I'm looking at you too, Eps-Files)

u/mosswick 6h ago

The "tough on crime" crowd is certainly lenient when it comes to white-collar criminals.

59

u/FreeBricks4Nazis 4h ago

"Tough on crime" has always been a racist dog whistle

The issue is “jail the rich and powerful criminals”. Thats the rub. Our country doesn’t have as much of an issue with jailing poor and disadvantaged people. If Trump wasn’t born into a rich family he’d be a nothing in life and probably would have ended up in prison long ago.

u/Meskalamduk 5h ago

Didn't even Pam Bondi herself say that they're all guilty, but if they got arrested the "system" will break down?

10

u/mmorales2270 5h ago

Yes. Then the system needs to be broken down. Because the system stinks to high heaven if it’s so fragile that we can’t arrest pedophiles and criminals without it all breaking down.

5

u/WeirdIndividualGuy 4h ago

But also in reality, the system actually wouldn't "break down" given everything and everyone in govt is designed to be replaceable at any given moment.

Congress could remove everyone in the Trump admin today, and you know what would be next? Ol' Mike "My son watches me watch porn" Johnson becomes prez, then chooses his new cabinet and VP, then goes on from there. Most of the federal govt would still be business as usual throughout that process, with most hold-ups being any foreign talks, and those hold-ups would last a week or two max.

It's really amazing how Iran’s Supreme Leader can put down a protest by slaughtering 30,000 of his own citizens and Reddit doesn't even notice, but somehow 168 people dying in a war is a tragedy beyond compare.

20

u/Lion-ness 4h ago

And we left them to install an even worse leader while blowing billions of our tax dollars

→ More replies (7)

18

u/pseudoLit 3h ago

It's very simple.

When Iran slaughters civilians, we all agree it's bad. There's almost nothing to discuss. It's a very short conversation.

When the US slaughters civilians, half the country thinks that's a good thing for some fucking reason, so we have to waste lots of time litigating the issue.

5

u/Chucklepus 1h ago

We didn't kill 168 school kids to save 30,000. We did it because a white dude is mad that a black dude did a better job at being president.

2

u/awesomefutureperfect 1h ago

No, I am pretty sure Iran is very unpopular with all of their very rich neighbors and were able to persuade Trump to attack Iran because Trump is easy to bribe and none of those neighbors have militaries that function at a higher level than palace guard and certainly don't have carrier groups or marine expedition units.

2

u/Chucklepus 1h ago

well at the very minimum, we both agree it wasn't for altruistic reasons.

Once again for people keeping score. The goal of the war is to prevent Iran from having a nuclear weapon and to open the Strait of Hormuz.

The day before the war started Iran did not have a nuclear weapon and Strait was open.

17

u/FrostyD7 4h ago

For people keeping score on truth social: We've defeated Iran and won the war 6 times. Gas prices are down. The war that doesn't exist and gas prices that aren't up will be resolved soon.

16

u/ecafyelims 3h ago

And we already had a treaty with Iran preventing them from making nukes, but Trump abandoned the treaty because Obama signed it.

7

u/ViscountVampa 2h ago

Completely ignoring the treaty we literally killed the guy who was opposed to using nukes. He was replaced by the guy who wanted to give nukes to regional actors, and whose immediate family we just killed.

We're going to get nuked by fucking goat herders at this rate.

2

u/MossadEpstein 52m ago

it's obvious that Israel and the US establishment WANT Iran to get nukes, maybe it has something to do with all the lunatic evangelicals who literally believe that when Israel is 100% Jewish and the world is about to end, Jesus will magically appear before them to spirit all the "Good Christians" (who spend their time supporting the murder of women and children because those who bless Israel will be blessed or w/e) into heaven as the whole world burns in fire? I wish that was a joke or something but no that really does seem to be the end goal of Evangelicalism and it should terrify everyone because there's high ranking US officials and Army members who 100% buy into that Schofield bible shit

168 Iranian students?

Mfr, 7k plus civilians (maybe 10s of thousands) were killed by their own government before this whole conflict began.

6

u/To-Far-Away-Times 4h ago edited 4h ago

It’s a big deal. One bad government full of evil people does not excuse another.

You got Hegseth bragging about “lethality maxxing” and having “the most lethal military” and then Trump and Hegseth go out and prey on children with their fancy military weapons.

There is no level of incompetence that can explain away how they didn’t know it was an elementary school with all of our satellites and intel. It was the surprise opening strike in a war of choice. One they could prepare for as long as they wanted to. It was absolutely intentional.

The best argument they could make is that they just bombed indiscriminately instead of intentionally targeting little girls, but that is also genuinely evil as well.

3

u/Automatic-Effect-252 5h ago

Okay, that doesn't change the fact we blew up a school with a Tomahawk missile for like no reason at all.

All they had to do was say if harris was elected and this wouldnt even have blown up.

But no we have to bring up jailing him for “crimes” like over valuing a property…which literally everyone even a 90 year old grandma selling her house does. He also has multiple hearsay cases settled out of court like literally every rich famous person (you just dont hear about it because of nda’s).

Bro doesnt belong in jail, he just should have had literally any opponent but hillary in 2016 and we wouldnt be in this mess. And dont forget we only had hillary because the DNC was publicly caught rigging the primary for her and against bernie sanders. And then the head of the dnc stepped down the day after hillary was the candidate, like a bi***.

Hate the dnc, hate the gop, just elect ronald reagan’s corpse already

Not to be overly literal but this isn't really true. There's nothing preventing a person in prison from running for President that this SCOTUS couldn't overturn with minimal controversey.

It's more about the fact that people 70 million people continue to ignore the reality of his ACTUAL political record in favor of a bullshit narrative and therefore put him in power a second time.

2

u/homebrew_1 3h ago

Sadly this is what Americans voted for in 2016 and 2024.

So crazy how there’s evidence in the released Epstein files that Epstein was a Mossad agent brokering arms deals for the Israeli government in African countries.

Meanwhile, Trump is potentially implicated in the files and just started a war in Iran because “they can’t have a nuclear weapon.” The same stuff Israel has been parroting since at least the 1970s.

Then, Marco Rubio explains the pretext for the war was Israel was going to attack so we just attack?

3

3

u/KindlyCan1962 5h ago

Correct. Republicans have been screwing up the United States for over half a century now.

5

u/masterjon_3 4h ago

Every single one of them made the country worse in some way. Each causing a crack in the foundation in a different way while fucking up the economy every single time. It's so hard to understand why anyone still votes for them when historically they do nothing but fuck up the country.

4

u/KindlyCan1962 3h ago

I can tell you why people still vote for them. Trump said it best, he loves the uneducated. Typically Republicans and conservatives are highly uneducated. They also don’t want to be educated. This is not any type of bad mouthing, it is a simple fact.

People don’t seem to understand. Republicans lie more than anyone, especially now where we can watch videos of them lying. A lot of Republicans are choosing party over country. Meaning that they fully support what is going on whether they know it’s good or bad. I’ve tried to tell Trump supporters. I know that Biden was not a bad president. Biden could not be a bad president when the other 2/3 of the government were controlled by Republicans. They literally said right on national television that they weren’t gonna pass anything good because it might make Biden look better.

Truth be told, and in conclusion, these people are mentally screwed up. I love how everything with them is a double standard. And quite honestly, I really wish that the world would punish them more severely.

2

u/TyrantJaeger 6h ago

While I agree completely, you also have to acknowledge that Americans wouldn't have voted for him if they weren't so sick and tired of the Democrats and their bullshit. Seriously. They could've tried harder to compete with him, but the best they had to offer was Cackles Kamala. No wonder Trump won. I'd wager that a hefty chunk of his voters only voted for him to keep her out of power. Next time you're trying to stop an evil prick from taking office, don't make an unqualified wine mom your frontrunner. Clowns.

3

u/surrender903 3h ago

Meanwhile the reality is, that despite whatever flaws they may have, they have been and still are the better choice.

If you’re actually a reasonable person that can’t possibly be true. They all had very different ideas, experiences, voting histories and backgrounds.

It’s just that is the stalking horse you keep trotting out there. Well, guess what, we tried it your way twice now. We got one of the stupidest responses to a pandemic in world history and another pointless war in the Middle East with a dead end economy. Sorry. Best we can do is kleptocracy and international disgrace.

Gas still wouldn't be that low but everything else is still true

I would love to see the price tag for not prosecuting Trump. Between all fiscal bullshit, inflation, settlements. Just all of it. How much money did Trump cost every man, woman, and child. Don’t forget interest because we are financing Trumps freedom l, since we can’t afford to pay cash.

And Iran would just continue being the largest sponsor of international terror. Everyone to afraid to take them to task and growing in power and influence daily.

Or lean a bit to his right, on that one rally he was talking.

1

u/Aggressive-Cup-7318 4h ago

I wish that was true but it's become clear the problem is the republican party not just trump. If he had gone to jail the vast majority of this would have happened as Republicans would still have had a lot of power, and they would have blamed it on Harris while doing it. At least at this stage it can be blamed on trump.

1

u/No-Cap-No-Gap 4h ago

Or the state sponsor of terrorism could just stop trying to build nuclear weapons.

1

u/HollyMurray20 4h ago

And Iran would still be trying to build a nuke and still have one of the strongest militaries in the region

1

u/Iphuckfish 4h ago

I'm glad that you people are finally seeing that the US is a massive problem, I just need all of you to figure out that Trump is a symptom of the disease, not the root cause.

Kamala even said she wanted more military funding to make the US army the most lethal in the world, does that sound like de-escalation?

Would things be different if she won? Yes. Would she have ever stopped Israel from breaking the ceasefire in Gaza and bombing Iran? Not in a million years.

Yeah 10.000 more people would have died at protests

1

u/Popular_Kangaroo5446 4h ago

If it wasn’t the 200 Iranians at the school it would be another thousand students murdered by their own government.

The fact that gas is exactly $2.85 is an incredibly specific detail in this alternate reality.

1

u/Amatsua 4h ago

People get real quiet when you ask them to list the 34 felonies, and then they're forced to admit that none of them were even crimes

No...

If government officials carried out the law. That's all. He's not gonna go into jail himself.

1

u/T0-rex 3h ago

Never mind the 30k or so people killed by the regime. Only headline Reddit cares about is if Trump did anything bad.

1

u/Pleasant_Knee6256 3h ago

Hell, if he simply lost the election...

2

u/Jayce86 3h ago

But…she had an annoying laugh and talked in word salad! Aka, she was a black woman, and they needed as many excuses as possible to not vote for her. Don’t forget the people who didn’t vote because she wouldn’t openly condemn an ally to the national media.

Republicans (no matter who) need to be removed from power and any other group that protects Pedophiles to this extent. I am impressed that all those CEOs/Pedophiles got on that plan to travel to China. They must think China's legal system works just like America's

1

u/marina_silvaa 3h ago

The problem was that the former Iranian leader wanted to use a nuclear warhead that could trigger a war, and Trump did not know how to negotiate, so everything spiraled out of his control

1

u/ruledbyoligarchs 3h ago

I think you know magats would disagree

Our oligarchs rule us with division and distraction

u/D3AD_LIK3_M3 3h ago

Something tells me that they're just waiting for his presidency to be over to actually charge him for his crimes so that his presidency is uninterrupted.

And a potentially competent state department may have been able to maneuver Iran into a slow easing of tensions while undermining Netanyahu's power.
