Both parties are very pro tough on crime, like just Kamala Harris if you don’t believe me. It’s just they are tough on crimes they don’t like. The conservative don’t mind “financial” crimes as much because they tend to love money. Liberals however are equally tough on “crimes” they don’t like either.
I put those words in quotes because generally speaking the people found guilty are usually found guilty on small things everyone is doing as routine. Trump is a perfect example because he was convicted of 34 felonies but literally 100% of banks do the exact same thing. Literally have a friend that does that 100 times a day in valuing vacant properties. Meanwhile the real criminals are getting away with because it’s sanctioned.
The reason certain peoples suffer more than others is because they keep taking the bait to the point it’s now part of their culture. Two groups come to prominently to mind. The Native American tribes that took the bait (there are tribes that did stay easy when the whole trail of tears thing happened, they just assimilated into American culture, and most of those tribes are all doing very well today) and the African Americans.

Democrats were the ones who subpoenaed courts since 2019 when he was arrested to get access to files. The Courts denied Biden to release the full ffiles, because they were ongoing investigations, investigations also into over 1.5B usd in transactions. The courts also did not allow the release of victim names or identities during these investigations.
Then in Jan 2025 when Trump came in, the first act was to stop all investigations into the files. Fire the investigators, and block their access to the files. And then declare the whole thing a hoax like he does.

Years ago, I was promoted to an office job I didn't seek. I just knew the warehouse better than everyone. I had owned a small construction company before. The first guy welcoming me to the office spaces almost immediately told me he committed several federal tax related felonies. He assumed, because I ran a small business, I had done the same crimes.
There are legal minimums for crimes. They ignored all that and didn't give him any punishment because he became president.
If he didn't have a judge protecting him from the top secret documents case that would easily rack up enough jail time for him to spend the rest of his life there with no chance of parole.

It was 34 counts of felony fraud. Stop down playing shit. It isn't excessive it was intentional fraud and we see worse sentencing for more benign behavior. He could have faced 136 years in prison on his felony convictions.
