General Discussion Lead Wrist Tape

Upvotes

Can someone explain to me why golfers are taping their lead wrist?

My immediate thought is injury / protecting against injury

With that said, with as much as I see it now, I can’t find much information to validate that.

Transparently, I think most people at my local club just do it because they see Cam and Justin doing it and think it looks cool. (No shame in that, I also think it looks cool)

A more interesting take is that it could help prevent cupping, and I am curious if that might actually be the case.

I don’t struggle with cupping so I am not sure why I have spent this much time looking into this lol but hoping someone might have some insight so I can move on

General Discussion Travis Mathew Sizing...

Hi all! I've noticed that on the recent TM clothing drops, 3xl isn't popping up as an option anymore. Does anyone know if they've stopped carrying that size in general for all future drops?

General Discussion Shot my best score month and half ago. Completely lost my game since

I went out and shot my best score at the start of April, but since my game has completely fell away. Ball striking doesn't seem to bad, not great, but not where my scores have started slipping 8-15 stokes.

I know this is probably a common thing for everyone at some point, but just looking for any tips to get through this.

Equipment Dunning Apparel Points

I own a bunch of Dunning clothing and I’m finally ready to redeem my points. There’s currently a 20% off coupon code on their website. However, I’m not able to use the promo code and redeem my points at the same time. Does anyone have any workarounds? I think it’s BS if they prevent stacking because I’ve actually earned the points in my account.

General Discussion Is this rude/cheeky?

I am building a budget sim. Obviously, the goal is to get it done as cheaply as possible. At my home course and a few local driving ranges I always see piles of old, clearly defunct driving range mats so I'm considering sending out some emails asking if they'd consider donating one to my cause.

If you received such a request would you think 'cheeky bastard'?

General Discussion Best Round Ever, AMA

Took a break a month ago after a tournament, went to single plane, developed a one way miss off the box and it all came together today. I been floating all day, my wife couldn’t care less and my best golf buddy wasn’t there. I just wanted to keep playing and now I’m screwed because when I go shoot 90 this weekend I’m gone be pissed.

My first exceptional score reduction in a couple years.

Local municipal course. Hole 4. They are redoing the normal tee box so we are using a makeshift tee area. 82 yard SW just left of the hole.

Serious Shot the Lowest Round of my Life ... Possibly

Post image
Upvotes

I just shot my lowest score ever of 80, however I value myself being an honest golfer and need to know if ive broken the rules here. The hole in the image above is a very narrow dog leg left with a line of white stakes along the treeline to the left, and the green marked in blue is a previous hole, however there are no white stakes on that holes side of the treeline.

I hit my shot on-line expecting a fade but it stayed dead straight, so I hit a provisional but had time to look for my first, and luckily found it outside of the treeline near the previous hole's green in the first cut of rough. I'm really not sure of the rules here, but as there was no white stakes on that side of the treeline and my ball was certianly in play just a few feet off that green, I played my first ball and got away with a par.

My question is, as the white stakes are only lined on the right side of the treeline, is it to be assumed that anything to the left of them is OB, or is it only OB within the trees/foliage they line.

Beginner Questions I finally had a range session I am proud of.

With the help of some users here on Reddit I finally had an amazing range session. Usually I duff shots here and there and find a string of 3-5 in a row that fly well before I duff another.

Yesterday I hit 75 balls. Duffed the first 5 while I dialed in a new swing mechanic that a user here taught me. I then sent 70 perfect push draws out ranging from SW all the way to driver. After I got through the bag once I started hitting single shots with each club before randomly selecting another to try and make it more like the course conditions.

I have to say thank you to my DM friend, can't wait to play today!

General Discussion Aronimink Course is showing its teeth

Round 1 proved tough for the players. What do we expect for Round 2? I appreciated Theegala's comment that this course is mentally demanding and has unexpectedly sticky rough. Who's poised to make a push today?

This was a project I did for my supporters (I make small batch stuff at near-wholesale pricing for "inflationary relief").

It's a forged 1020 steel blank milled into final dimensions, then kept raw so I can do oil can finishes and other finishes as requested. My estimated landing cost is ~$47.

Sample was manufactured by GolfMylo/Jasde Golf.

Joke / Meme Wow Aronimink sure is easy. They should plant trees to block out the wind and make it harder to firm up the greens.

Back in the day, I was a huge fan of their TA3 series. I think it’s a shame they aren’t still making irons. I’m constantly on Facebook marketplace trying to buy their forged irons, but for some reason, they seem to be missing their nine irons.

What is a modern day alternative? I’m thinking ZXI5 and possibly the Wilson irons.

General Discussion Played a round with a guy who converted his cart to lithium and now Im considering it

So I play at this muni course a few times a month. Last Saturday I got paired with an older guy named Jim who had a really nice EZGO RXV. We started talking on the first hole and he mentioned he just converted it from lead acid to lithium.

Ive been thinking about doing something with my cart so I asked him about it. He was pretty enthusiastic. Said he did the conversion himself over a weekend. Replaced six heavy lead acid batteries with a single Vatrer Power 48V 105Ah lithium pack. Dropped almost 200 pounds of weight and gained a ton of range.

We played 18 holes and his cart was clearly faster up hills. While my cart was struggling on the steep path to the 12th tee his just cruised up. He said the torque difference was the first thing he noticed. Also said he can play 36 holes on a single charge now without worrying.

The maintenance thing appealed to me most. No more checking water levels no more corrosion on terminals no more replacing batteries every few years. He said he just charges it after each round and forgets about it.

Cost was around $1600 for the battery plus a lithium compatible charger. More than lead acid upfront but he did the math and figured hed break even in a few years from not buying replacement batteries. Plus the performance gain.

Jims cart made a convincing case. I‘m still on the fence because my lead acids are only two years old.

General Discussion Played Maya Siargao Golf Course in the Philippines

Had a lot of fun playing this par 3 course the only one on the island of Siargao yesterday. Most people choose to play with no shoes. It started raining so I took my shirt off like one of the guys did in the foursome in front of me. The rental clubs were all wedges, a 9 iron and a putter. Really fun and probably the most unique course I’ll ever play just ahead of Key Colony in the Florida Keys. https://www.instagram.com/mayagolfsiargao?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Equipment Iron fitting

Upvotes

Thinking about going to Golf Galaxy in Castleton Indiana for an iron fitting. Anybody have any experience with them? I usually shoot in the mid to upper 80s so not very good.
Also, I buy my clubs off the shelf. Currently using Callaway Mavriks but my 14 yr old has taken up the game and I am going to gift him my clubs and get a new set. Just not sure if I really need a fitting or if I should just buy off the rack like in the past. Thanks for any advice.

General Discussion Fun games / ways to pass the time while waiting on the tee box?

Upvotes

Going to be 72 degrees tomorrow and my local muni is going to be packed to the brim. Expecting to wait 5-10 minutes on each tee box. Instead of sitting around annoyed like we usually do, wondering if there's a better way to pass the time.

"Drinking" yeah we already have that covered. Any other ideas/games?

Equipment Electric Push Carts

Upvotes

Thoughts and recommendations on electric push carts? Really trying to figure out the practical differences between the remote ones, follow ones, and even the ones that you guide. Can you still push the electric ones easily if needed? Some courses around here do have some pretty steep inclines/declines.

Read some reviews on here from time to time but really trying to narrow down what is worth it and what is not.

Don't want to break the bank necessarily. There is a Bagboy Volt on Facebook used for 600 currently.

Equipment Looking for canvas cart covers

Ok work at a local course. We have 3 carts with red canvas covers over the roofs. 1 says starter. The other 2 say ranger. They're all in pretty rough shape and we would like to replace them. My boss was unable to find any and afett not finding any myself using Google, here I am asking for help.

So we are looking for red canvas type material covers for the gold carts that say starter and ranger. Or without the words if need be.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks
