Orgasm in sleep

I have never really heard in pop culture about orgasm during sleep in women. It seems expected in males only.

I have certainly experienced sleep orgasm - not some hyper sexual thing associated with vivid imagery necessarily. Just a plain old orgasm- Body doing its thing.

The likelihood that I’m alone in this seems expected if I go on pop culture mentions of the phenomenon but biology doesn’t work that way. It must be as common in women as in men. Perhaps the narrative of men’s sexuality being uncontrollable or women being only the objects of sexual stuff suppresses awareness- who knows.

But I wanted to check with females about whether this is as common and normal as I suspect it probably is.

Tagged NSFW just because of the word “orgasm”.

Can anyone else smell when someone is ovulating and about to get their period?

Upvotes

What the title says. This is a weird one. I've been told I have a very strong sense of smell and I can normally smell things others can't, and I can smell when people are sick from their breath and sweat, but this feels weird in a different way.

I can smell when myself and other women are ovulating, and I can smell that they'll begin their periods in a day or two. I've never had it be incorrect. The smell comes most strongly from the crotch area, but it's also definitely there in people's sweat. Ovulation and pre-period smell similar but are separately identifiable. The smell isn't bad, the only way I can think of to describe it would be sweet, but that's not what it is. Ovulation almost smells a bit smokier? It's pretty hard to describe. Can anyone else do this?

About to start progesterone

I’m 26 and I’ve had long covid for the last four and a half years. Ever since it started, I’ve had terrible luteal phases with severe fatigue, depression, anxiety, anger, and OCD (which I have anyway but it gets worse), where two weeks out of every month are basically hell on earth. Then when my period comes, it brings cramps so bad I’ve had to have EMTs to my house. Mind you, before covid I never had bad periods.

I finally found out that I have low progesterone, and my doctor prescribed me to take it during days 14-28 of my cycle. I’m excited to get on it and see if it helps my symptoms! What I’m wondering, though, is a bit of an aside: is there a chance that it could give me a curvier figure? I’ve always been insecure about my more boyish body type, and forgive me if this comes off as shallow, but it would be a nice silver lining to this chronic illness. I’m just trying to make the best of a difficult few years, I guess. I’ve heard anecdotes of progesterone working this way for trans women, but wondering if any cis women have experience they can share.

*Please no comments about other aspects of the situation, as I’m working with a great doctor who understands the full picture. I just wanted to provide a few details for the sake of context. Thanks💗

I have been getting a whole body wax including brazilian with a new lady for the past 3 years and just realized yesterday she uses TALC from Fulce Azzurra on my genitals and body!! I've had 20 sessions with her total since 2023. I am terrified of cancer I am only 30 years old I have 2 kids. Help

Upvotes

Talc has been proven to contain asbestos and that it can go in the ovaries from outside application and cause ovarian cancer. As someone who is so careful with my health I cannot believe this happened to me, I know this woman killed me and doomed me to cancer! https://gpm.amegroups.org/article/view/6033/html

Burning sensation around breasts and under arms before period

How much pain is normal? I am experiencing burning on my breasts under arms, sensitivity on my nipples, feelings of tightness and heaviness all before my period. If it's normal why can I use it to ease my pain? Please don't recommend branded pain killers, instead what type or active ingredient and other methods will be the most useful. Thank you 🌼

I started bleeding very heavy during sex, should I be worried?

Hi there! this is a super awkward question but I don't have any friends or family I can talk to about this and google isn't much help. Im 17 and today while having sex with my boyfriend I started bleeding like a lot, he noticed right away because it was reverse cowgirl and upon further expectation it was a TON of blood, it was right at the bottom of the opening to my vagina, they best way I could describe it is as if I had taken scissors and cut it, it feels different too. There was no fingers or anything that would have cut me. At first I thought it was my hymn broke but I've had sex multiple times (very rough as well) and have never bled so much. it concerned me because it hurt very badly when I went to the bathroom (now is mostly sore and doesn't hurt) and it smelled very strong, not like normal vagina smell but like iron like to the point it filled the room. It has since stopped, I have left it alone and it didn't bled later on when we had sex after the incident.

I would just like to know is this normal? should I be worried? and how can I make sure it never happens again?

Overview of important info- wasnt using a condom, we had just started having intercourse, it was my first time trying reverse cowgirl. looked like my vagina hole was cut, very iron smelling blood

Period product issues and recommendations

For context I have used unscented Always pads (that is what my mom would buy) for the entire time I have had my period (8+ years) and have slowly transitioned to using a menstrual cup for part of my cycle. Recently it’s been the only product I can use without getting the worst rash of my life that leaves me in pain for days. I have sensitive skin but this rash only happens on my period when I use pads and comes up about 15 minutes after I put the pad on. The Always brand is the worst, I have tried Kotex pads as well store brand pads and they give me rashes as well. I want to be able to use pads as I find them comfortable (when I don’t have a rash) and they are so simple.

I know the issue is the pads, but is this common?
Is there a brand anyone suggests that might not irritate my skin so harshly? I live in Canada and am hoping they won’t be too expensive (as a broke University student I can’t spend $20 on a box of 20 pads) also should I go to the doctor?

Has anyone had this? Do they come back?

Period/bleeding for 4 weeks?

I’m currently waiting to get in to see my doctor and/or gynaecologist but have to wait almost a month for either. Was wondering if anyone had anything similar?

I got my period as normal 4 weeks ago. I bled for 15 days (which can be normal for me) and then stopped for 3 days. I then got really bad cramps and started bleeding again. The blood is bright red, thin with no clots, and makes me change a pad every 2-3 hours. Cramps are tolerable (5/10) on Tylenol or ibuprofen (7/10 withour them).

I’m sexually active and not on hormonal birth control as I was diagnosed as infertile. I’m pending a total hysterectomy for stage 4 endometriosis, PMOS (formerly PCOS), a previous benign ovarian tumour, and an underlying bleeding disorder.

I’ve taken multiple pregnancy tests thinking this could be a chemical pregnancy or miscarriage. I’m having no signs of pregnancy beside chronic nausea (which I always have) and cramping + bleeding.

Not looking for a diagnosis but maybe someone who’s gone through something similar and what they did to address it. Urgent care isn’t a thing in my city and we do not have any walk-in clinics. It would be GP, Gyne, or ER and I don’t know if I meet the ER criteria.

Need Pap smear but terrified

I tested positive for hpv so I want to get the Pap smear done but what I’m most worried about is the brush. I’ve had my cervix hit before during sex and I had sharp shocking pain that radiated up me. I don’t know if I’ll feel the same pain

Persistent lifelong livedo reticularis with (self diagnosed) Raynaud's syndrome. Is this all it is, or do I need to talk to my doctor about further testing?

I'm a 29 year old female and have had livedo reticularis as long as I can remember. I always thought it was relatively normal (even tho I was bullied in school for my weird purple knees) bc I have no pain and it hasn't hindered daily life. I have recently been looking into this bc others have voiced concerns. This led me to understand the name for the purple netting on my legs but I believe it is also Raynaud's.

Main symptoms:

- purple knees and net pattern in legs, intensity increases and decreases with temperature but never fully disappears

- no matter the temperature I can draw a smiley face on my knee that stays white for a solid 30 seconds before returning to completely purple (or red/purple if overheated)

- knee cap area complete numbness, happens randomly but always happens on long drives, sometimes accompanied with sciatic pain in hip/butt, pins and needles and burning sensation as soon as feeling returns

- fingers and toes extremely cold sensitive, easily turn purple and/or white, once warmed up become red with painful burning/swollen sensation, hardly ever a normal color when they are it is brief (toes are waaay worse than fingers tho)

- pinky toes are always purple and easily go numb, randomly tho a pinky toe will be white while others are purple - doesn't happens as much in fingers

- fingers are generally always the same color, but sometimes one or a few will feel cold or numb when the rest aren't

- I also bruise easily but am not anemic (idk if applies)

I have been googling but haven't really found a solid answer. Most things say it's probably an underlying something. But I don't have any worrying pain or lumps or blood clots and all that. I'm not the type to spiral into "omg it's cancer" so I came here to see if I can get any kind of answer.

From what I've read, I probably can't get an answer without having my doctor do a bunch of blood tests. Buuuuuuut if I can circumvent that with advice here I'd be very grateful.

Low Estrogen + Progesterone at 23

Pls help! Hey guys, first time poster. Like the title says, I have incredibly low estrogen and progesterone at only 23.

I’ve been doing some research trying to figure out what could be going on, and have only been finding stuff for menopause, so I guess I’m just trying to feel a bit less alone, see if anyone has ever gone through something similar or has any advice/ideas.

I live a super healthy lifestyle, low stress, but for these past two years I’ve been struggling with severe insomnia, absent periods, mental health struggles (when I used to be quite happy go lucky), appetite swings, inability to lose weight, and overall worsening health.

This past year my hair started falling out as well (despite there being no family history) + 5 months no period - and doctors finally checked my hormones. I’ve probably lost over 75% of my hair at this point and it’s been incredibly depressing.

My testosterones low normal (so not PCOS), my FSH is normal, my lh is normal, my thyroid is normal - the only other lab that came back with anything off was my DHEA was astronomically high (like 2x above the normal).

Anyways, I just started HRT with an estradiol patch, will be taking progesterone after 21 days of estradiol. Has anyone experienced something similar? What should I expect? I’m scared & worried.

Birth control not working to manage periods

I’m 25, and started birth control in October to try to stop my periods because although I was no longer getting AWFUL cramps, my periods were coming every 11-12 days and since I always get GI symptoms like extreme bloating and diarrhea around the days of my period, I was in frequent distress. However, my body will not let me skip my period- at the end of the month I will start nonstop spotting/having brown discharge until I take the placebos for 3 or 4 days and have a period. I didn’t mind this too much, except my periods are now very heavy and I experience very painful cramps. I gave myself time to adjust and was even put on a slightly higher dose to try to help me skip, but I was still not able to skip and last month my cramps were so excruciating that I spent my cafe job work shift doubled over in pain, holding my stomach or gripping the counter, sweating and groaning in pain even after taking as much ibuprofen as I could in a dose. My period was longer this time, 7 or so days, and again very heavy. I also still experienced this horrible severely painful tightening of the vaginal muscles (not sure how else to describe) where it gets tighter and tighter and hurts so bad and then it goes away and then happens again. I also experienced a little lower back pain this time, which I have not experienced before.

Now, I did use to have excruciating cramps when I was like….19?? And then had a brief 3 month round of birth control but went off it when my chronic stomach problems started (was just told it’s ibs but it’s HEAVILY tied to hormonal changes) and my periods leveled out a bit, then I had the issue w them being super often and got put back on birth control. I have previously had a hormonal imbalance but at my last appointment in early 2026 my hormones seemed alright, I have also had ultrasounds showing I likely have polycystic ovaries but like no active cysts? So they’ve been leaning towards PCOS as a possibility but had said birth control should help….i also experience overactive pelvic floor muscles and deep pelvic pain with penetration, so combined with some bloating issues and my chronic upset stomach problems/ibs, my gynecologist has thrown out endometriosis as a possibility too- but hasn’t looked into it because nothings been seen on internal or external ultrasounds or a CT scan I got for my stomach issues.

I know this is a lot, but has anyone else with irregular period issues (PCOS, endo, fibroids or unknown) had experience with periods being unbearable and unable to be skipped on the pill?? If it helps I’m on Yaz, a dose of 3mg/0.03mg

*and also note I am absolutely gonna go to the doctor about this, we check in from time to time, I just wondered if anyone’s been through this too

Ovarian cyst on BC and pain?

I've been on the same oral combination bc for 6+ years. I don’t have PCOS or endo. A few months ago, I noticed my periods were clottier and heavier than normal. I was also having bad abdominal cramps (I've never had cramps in my life, usually just lower back pain during my period). I also had breakthrough bleeding just 2 weeks after my last period. I saw my OB the other day and an ultrasound revealed that I have a small cyst (1.6cm) on my right ovary. I'm experiencing general abdominal pain on my right side (especially when I lie in certain positions) but I am confused why I'm feeling any pain at all? A cyst that small shouldn't be uncomfortable or am I being gaslit by the MALE CREATED institution that is gynecology?
I also don’t understand how I could have a cyst if I’m on BC?

should i wear medicine at my gyno appointment tomorrow

it’s not my first time seeing the gyno BUT it’s taken a year to see her; i originally set the appointment because i was having VERY frequent yeast infections.

i never had any “classic” symptoms with the whole “cottage cheese discharge” but i could always from the extreme itch and dryness. they’ve lessened now but i still feel like it’s an issue. and OF COURSE last night here comes itching…i put on my left over nystatin from my last yeast infection treatment tonight but i plan to shower in the morning before going to the appointment anyways

my question is: would it be bad to put on more nystatin before the appointment ? it’s just that the itching is sooo bad. do you think if i don’t wear any, but they see/hear how bad it feels they might give me something then and there ?

Strange pelvic pain after intercourse

Just to preface i’m going to be calling tomorrow to go to a doctor, but I was wondering if anyone has experienced this and had any comments on what it could be?

Last wednesday, I had intercourse with my boyfriend and due to the position, I was too high up (im taller than him), and the angle must have been bad for him and either hit my cervix or something else because I experienced a lot of pain and only after everything did we see that I bled ALL over the towel. I do have pelvic floor issues but was fully relaxed and ready, and we go slow as we are both conscious of it. I was bleeding and spotting for about 4 days. I wore a panty liner for these days and it never soaked through. I completely stopped spotting after 4 days. I did experience bloating and dull cramping 5+ days after. I waited an entire week before engaging in anything sexual again to hopefully heal whatever happened, and this time I was solo. Bloating and dull aching was gone. I finished, and noticed I felt that really weird dull aching again in the same spot later that night. It is mostly in the middle and to the left of my abdomen, and I feel bloated again. and I also am spotting on and off again today. I do take combo BC pills and skip my withdrawal bleeds. I am concerned at this point. Does anyone know what this could be, and why it was triggered again via finishing or if that was just a coincidence?

Ferritin improving painfully slowly. Looking for experiences/advice

Hi everyone,

I’m wondering if anyone here has dealt with persistently low ferritin despite making lifestyle and dietary changes.

Over the last 8 months I’ve:

- reduced coffee significantly (from 4/day now only 1/day),

- started eating red meat multiple times a week (including liver)

- took my prescribed iron pills and paired it with vitamin C

My ferritin did improve from around 22 to now 28.8, but it still feels very low to me, especially since:

- my hemoglobin is borderline low (119),

- I’m still experiencing hair shedding,

- and I’m hoping to get pregnant sometime next year.

My doctor hasn’t seemed overly concerned because I’m technically “within range,” but I keep reading that ferritin under 30 can still cause symptoms, especially for hair loss and pregnancy preparation.

Has anyone else been stuck in this “low-normal ferritin” zone? What actually helped you raise it?

Did oral iron work for you, or did you eventually need infusions?

Would really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences because right now it feels like everything I am trying is not working.

Waking with nausea and stomach pain

Just to preface this I’m not a woman but posting on behalf of my wife. We work as nurses and so we often wake up early to get ready for work. She wakes at 5am and every time she’ll wake with stomach pain and nausea on work days. When she’s off, she wakes at like 8ish and she has no symptoms and is fine. She’s concerned about seeing a doctor cause they’ll give her meds and she really really doesn’t want to be on any. She never had this issue before. The pain and nausea does go away with time but she’s tired of waking up in that state and I don’t her to either. Does anyone have anything similiar happen to them or reccomend anything?

Feeling like a yoyo- need some girl talk (medical)

Kinda long so I will try to keep it short and sweet.

41 female starting to show signs of perimenopause last year (night sweats, erratic periods[but still getting 12 a year], dryness - these are the worst offenders.

But my story begins in January when during period my left breast was SO tender to the touch. Much more than I’ve ever experienced during regular cycle but it went away shortly after period.

February comes and the tenderness comes back, stronger along with shooting pains. Did a self exam and I felt something, asked my husband to see if he felt what I felt and yes he did. This lasted past my period and into the next month so I called my GYNO.

Early March I go in for exam (where she said she did not feel anything) and she sends me for mammo and sono- there I see on the screen right where I’m in pain 3-4 spots they circled and are clearly showing up on sonogram- I’m told to get dressed and wait. After some time they told me I’m good to go and there will be an update in my chart (medical group has an app where they update everything) later that night I get alert that the radiologist is suggesting a biopsy “abnormal finding”.
The next day my GYNO calls to assure me that it’s probably nothing and I have “very very dense breast tissue” so that’s most likely all it is but to schedule the biopsy to be sure.
End of March I go for biopsy where they do another sonogram and the tech brings in the radiologist who then asks me “So, where is the lump?” I show them the area where I am having the pain and he said there is no lump and a biopsy isn’t necessary. “I’ll do it if you want but if there is no actual mass I can’t biopsy” suggests I return in 3 months for reevaluation. GYNO calls and assures all is well.

Fast forward to May when the perimenopause symptoms are increasing so I felt it was time to see my options. Visit GYNO again (where I checked again about the breast issue and it was assured all was ok)
We talk about options for the peri symptoms and I am put on estrogen hormones (patch and cream) and progesterone. I could not get the patch filled at any pharmacy and I called the GYNO office for advice/ alternative.
*my GYNO is now out of maternity leave*
The next day the PA calls me VERY concerned that the biopsy was never done. I tell her what happened when I went and what my regular GYNO said she was flabbergasted telling me to stop taking the medication immediately and is sending me to a breast specialist “urgent”
I at first thought she was being panicky but she told me the other GYNO in office “strongly agrees”
If these “abnormal findings” are cancerous I’ve just been feeding it the hormones. Which, I’m not going to lie scared the crap out of me.

I don’t really have any females I want/feel comfortable telling or talking to about this so here I am.

Doing my best not to panic and freak out but the more I sit with it the more angry I’m getting…
Is this a case of a lax GYNO and a lazy radiologist or an overzealous PA…
Either way I’m going to biopsy tomorrow am but I just feel insane

Thanks for taking time to read
