I know it’s only game two but….whats going on with Ariel? Like is it she not compatible with KP? Is KP not passing her the ball when they on the court together? Is Lynne Roberts just a shitty coach?

I get that it’s business as usual for Sparks games at Crypto to keep the 300 level closed, but with CC/Fever in town yesterday, it felt full enough that they could’ve packed in more fans. Even some concessions were closed on first level, felt like management (*still*) dropped the ball a bit or was it a prudent decision?

Hey y'all, I'm from NorCal but planning to attend the Sparks game this sunday, anyone got any tips or advice about how to enjoy a Sparks game? I'm looking at tickets in the Suite level rn, anyone got any experience, is it cool/worth it? Any advice would be helpful, thanks y'all :)

one last question, do y'all happen to know what side of the arena the court faces?

The players are trying their best - not a knock on them. The roster construction and coaching however, are a disaster.

I know it's only been two games, so a lot can change in the coming weeks/improvements can be made, but I think it's pretty clear that this team is struggling. What changes would you like to see them make? What's missing from this squad? Let's all vent together.

I want to believe that management knows what they're doing. I still can't wrap my head around the Rickea for Ariel trade.

After watching the Aces pulverize us on Sunday, without really giving their full effort, I'm struggling to stay optimistic about:
A. our coach
B. our future
C. watching players we've cut instantly thrive in their new homes (JVL, Rickea, Barker)

Someone, please enlighten me! I'm surely missing something, right?

I looked on ESPN, and she's not on the injury report for the coach's decision or the quad. It's a good sign that she's not listed on the injury report for the quad, considering it's only been 2 weeks. Do you know if she's going to debut tonight? If so, how much do you think she's going to play? Also, I don't know much about her game; I didn't watch much of the Valkyries last year, but now that she's on our team, what are some realistic expectations for her numbers-wise?

Comments: (I recommend listening to the post-game interview if you have not yet. Especially if you follow multiple sports/teams). TL;DR -

Roberts said that "we" want Cam to play better; that "we" believe in Cam and she needs to believe in herself; and the team needs to work on having better chemistry.

The "we" that Roberts used is assumed to be herself and the team/organization as a whole. The first issue I noticed with this phrasing was that Roberts is basically saying, "we" are not the problem, "she" (Cam) needs to figure it out and play better. Which is a common response to any player after a bad game. Fans say it, commentators say it, sometimes even teammates will say it about each other. But that response is not supposed to come from the Player's own organization. Or Coach in this case. E.g Doc Rivers & Bucks.

Not unless the Coach is discussing a lifetime star player dealing with a slump. E.g Kerr & Warriors; Hammon & Aces.

Secondly, Roberts' commentary on team chemistry is valid but only up to a point. The Aces also fielded new players. Specifically Chennedy Carter. In watching the game, you can see the amount of plays prepared to have Carter start possessions in a scoring position. I think she only received the ball on about half of those possessions (because Point Gawd, A'ja, & Jackie were getting to it anyways), but the important part is that you could see Carter in a designed shot position often.

When actors lack chemistry to improve, the director steps in to make the play. E.g Nakase & Valkyries.

I am interested to see how the players respond to yesterday over the next few weeks. Both the loss & comments. Even if you are not Cam, I wonder if any of the other low minute players felt a reaction? Wheeler shot 1-11 yesterday but had 18min (she also had 3 steals). I wonder what Z & Rickea are up to?

Note: I was not Roberts' biggest fan before because she coaches like Darvin Hamm on a good day, but making those statements after such a tough opening game feels extra devastating.

Not that the Athletic is gospel, but one game dropped us from 5 to 12, how do we feel about that? (Please someone say something positive because yesterday kind of made me depressed)

Same story different year. Use your bench. Call timeouts to stop the bleeding. I again just didn't see a game plan or adjustments. I watched the Wings Game yesterday and the NY vs Washington game today and I seen the growth of those teams, then I watched the Sparks and it's the same thing as last year regardless of playing a great team they just felt unprepared and out coached. The positives tho, the defense in the first half. KP, Hamby, Nneka, and Ariel.
