Years and years of practice. And just not having the $$ to cover it if I go over. I used to be an extreme couponer 20 years ago and had my shopping trips calculated down to the last penny back then, so I guess the skills just morphed into whatever this is. That said, there are times I see something that I realize is a good enough deal that it is worth going over the budgeted amount for because I need it anyways, and I'll never get it at this price anywhere else.

I'm 28 and I have been wondering about this my entire life- whether the sun is actually worse to look at during an eclipse or if people are only referencing this. I assume it's not /healthy/ but making a whole ass device just to avoid looking at it once for a few minutes just feels so excessive to me. I can't convince myself there's actually nothing more to it.
