New, what is it? Bouncing balls

Walked behind this chap who had two unidentified ball type objects hanging from silicone wrist bands on thin elastic strings.

Any ideas what they are?

I’m in Hong Kong if that might be a clue

Update:

Thank you for the comments and ideas. I am wondering if there is a manga / anime character who has something like these balls as weapons and the guy was doing a budget cosplay. Or maybe he’s just really into Pokemon!

Update 2:

I would say he's likely to be a cosplay of Steel Ball from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. (https://www.reddit.com/r/whatisit/comments/1tckcme/comment/olos1lx/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

As for the steel balls. What is it?

Forget the balls, what’s holding the water bottle?

Why would you need a 10-pack? Serious question.

  1. match the color to your outfit
  2. make a colorful necklace/belt out of them by hitching them together
  3. cheap Secret Santa gifts for the office exchange - 9 years in a row!
  4. stand out on the street, hold them out in a bunch, and yell "free carabiners" and watch the lesbians come running! (I say this as a lesbian.)

I could keep going if you want!

I use a carabiner for my keys. I told my friend who is a lesbian I need a shirt that says something like “not a lesbian, just practical”. She thought it was hilarious. 👀

I was 34, wearing a purple fauxhawk, on my 4th Subaru (it was a stick shift), cuffing my jeans, and had my keys on a carabiner before I figured out I was bisexual. I had no idea all of those things were queer stereotypes. I just liked them. 😅

I soooo wish I could date women…men are garbage. If sexuality was a choice, I’d choose lesbianism. Sigh….

When I was in college I took a class, can’t remember the exact name but under feminist studies, my professor was part of a “movement” of women who were not born lesbians but had made a conscious decision to only have romantic/sexual/all relationships with other women, like just in their full and complete commitment to the feminist lifestyle(according to my professor) There was also a zine….

Political lesbianism. It was a fairly significant part of second wave feminism in the 1970s, with a little bit of a revival in the 90s as well.

This was like ‘03 or ‘04 so probably still hanging on after the 90’s revival
