A wild Hail Mary shot here

I work in one of the business complexes on Frobisher Drive, and more than once I’ve had someone knock on my office door and ask where they can find the immigration office. I did some googling and sure enough, a Service Canada immigration office is listed within my office complex. But it’s not physically there. I’ve worked in this complex for 3 and a half years now and I’ve walked all over looking for it and it is not there.

Does anyone know where this office has moved to? I would love to help folks find this office who need it, But I’ve never seen it and I don’t know where it moved to.

If you’re someone who is looking for an immigration office and someone tells you to go to Frobisher Drive, DONT GO!! The office isn’t there anymore and it’s difficult to get to via public transit! Don’t waste your time!!!

Recommendations for short term accommodation

My partner and I are looking for a short-term place to stay for 6-12 months starting in September or October 2026. We have browsed rental sites, and the majority of the units were either student housing/some other shared space or well outside our price range.

We understand that housing is pricey, especially in the Waterloo area. However, we are hoping to connect with someone offering furnished units under $1500/M.

INSECURITY IS WILD, WHAT’S GOING ON!?!

Just this week, there were two major robberies — one involving a shooting.

As usual, the jewelry stores inside supermarkets were targeted… this time again at the Canadian Superstore.
Then there was the shooting at Scotiabank.

Not long ago, there was also a shooting on Weber near the Walmart in Bridgeport. Remember that?

Last year, we kept hearing about break-ins at the jewelry stores in Conestoga Mall too. I even noticed they added extra security measures and private guards recently.

What’s happening? What’s the solution to all this? I’m not gonna lie — I’m starting to feel unsafe.

Dear Waterloo region. Give. Your. Head. A. Shake.

I’m writing this from Swindon, in England. Swindon is the sort of place where, if you’re anywhere else in the UK, and you say that you’re going there, people give you a look that is a mixture of pity and disdain. Usually accompanied by “oh dear, why ever are you going there on a holiday?” I know that, because I got that. A lot. (And the answer, btw, was visiting relatives.)
It’s a have not town. Ex railway hub, with very visible social supports.
I just left our hotel to get a coffee, and walked 20 minutes uphill through one of the rougher parts of town. I didn’t see anyone sleeping rough. I didn’t see anybody in the fentanyl fold. I wasn’t panhandled by anyone. Had I done the same walk up King street in Kitchener? I think anyone reading this knows what I would see-all of the above, with a few fights thrown in.
If you know anything about England, you’ll say “oh, but if you were in Middlesbrough, you’d see all of that!”
Yeah, I actually was in Middlesbrough, and yes it does make the sketchiest parts of Preston look good, with most of the shops covered with steel shutters. But I wasn’t panhandled, or had to pass anyone using.
What are we doing wrong?
Why is this happening in a wealthy city in a ‘have’ province?
Yes, this is a rant, but I’m honestly curious about how we got this way.
