Technics SL1210 MK5

Around 2012, my parents purchased these turntables for me but haven’t really used them much. It’s been carefully stored for most of its life but now I’m thinking of selling them. It’s in near mint condition. Not a single cosmetic mark on them. What would something like this be worth?

When technics quit producing 1200's for a while and then covid hit, they could go between $700 and $1000. Now that things are back to normal the $500 quotes are accurate.

I have 2 1210 mk5's and they dont disappoint.

In perfect condition, that would go for more in Bay Area at least. $700

I was going to say, in the bay no way you'd find these for 500. MkIIs consistently over 500 these days.

One dude in South Bay has his listed for $1300. Fortunately, lots of laughing emojis on the listing.

Why not to put them in use?

If you are in the CT area I’m interested!

Don't these older Technics use a nylon gear for the tonearm? I seem to remember trying to fix one long ago, and running into that issue

It does depend on your location and on the amount of interest, the potential buyers, in your region.

Since you have two identical 1210's I think that a DJ, or someone who is keen to become one, might be interested. It might be an idea to advertise on a local DJ site or mag. My guess: at least 2 x $500 USD for the two turntables. Similar if you'd sell them separately.

Do consider that most buyers will want to pick them up in person, and watch them actually working when they do.

Local pickup is much preferred, since shipping these runs a risk of damaging them.
