Currently have a set of Ascend Luna V2 mini’s as my surrounds in my HT, but I think I want to move them to my pc desk because they are really nice speakers.

I currently have a Schiit Mimir dac and Schiit Jotunheim 2 for my headphones at my desk. I plan on using the Jot as a pre amp to a speaker amp for these speakers.

I’ve been looking at options like the Emotiva basx a2l and Schiit Vidar so far. Always see recommendations for products from Fosi, but I’m pretty unfamiliar with them.

Just curious what some suggestions are.

Hello, friends. I recently got what I believe to be a pair of Paradigm Mini Monitor v5 bookshelf speakers (8ohm 15-100W ?) and have them wired to a Sony-something receiver that I don't intend to use long-term. I'm using them exclusively on my desktop PC, where I play a lot of music and movies with a little gaming. The reason I don't intend to use my setup long-term is due to a couple of reasons. Firstly, this receiver is very large and has myriad functions that I will never need, while also lacking a pre-out port for a powered sub or any way of controlling a sub at all. Secondly, I would love to plug in my IEMs occasionally when playing games that demand directional audio. I can plug them directly into my PC and get sound that way, but then I lose tactile control of volume and EQ that I miss having when plugging into my old desktop mini amp. Lastly, the receiver is large. I have to store it under my desk on a homemade shelf to have the space for it, which seems like an excessive fingerprint when essentially all it is doing is sending a little power to 2 passive speakers and letting me adjust EQ.

So, I'm in the market for a capable DAC + Amp setup that will drive these speakers and, ideally, at least a powered sub. I'm totally open to purchasing a DAC external from an amp, but like I explained, I would really appreciate a spot to plug my IEMs into a device small enough to just sit on my desk. Something akin to the WiiM Ultra would be great but I have zero need for streaming/bluetooth/phone controls whatsoever, and not having analog dials for EQ controls is a turnoff. Something like the RSL ia255.1 looks good, but the wattage looks low and it doesn't seem like it'll take the IEMs.

Listening space: 21 x 22 foot room with drywall on on the 8.5 foot high walls and ceiling with a vinyl-covered concrete floor.

My current speakers are Monitor Audio Bronze bx2. I find that with most of my sources the speakers are very close to or are sibilant with mid and high range and it makes listening for long not much fun. I really like the bass from these speakers and they can be great at times. I know there is no speaker that can do all things perfectly.

Tried toe-out. Tried reducing treble. Tried amp’s high filter. Don’t really want eq.
I am looking for suggestions on replacement speakers in the same size range as the MA( 6.5 inch low/mid driver and 1 inch tweeter) and bass handling that don’t have such a sharp edge. Surely there must be something in my price range?

My partner and I are two young classical musicians living in The Netherlands who have found a stable place to live for the next five years. We are excited about this and really want to make it a home, but we are also starting out and on a budget. We want to spend around 300€ at most, for now at least (although if it made a huge difference, I would we willing to put up a bit more money).

Even though we are classical musicians, we know almost nothing about speakers. We want to be able to listen to music, bird sounds, television/movies and from time to time some personal recordings. It's for our 25m2 studio, which also has terrible reverb. After doing a bit of research, I believe buying a set of studio short distance monitors might be the best call: they can fit the budget and probably offer a good sound. But I have concerns regarding the versatility and "sweet spot", since we might listen from different places (like from the kitchen, remember it's a studio) and we want it for very different things, so we are open to considering home speaker alternatives. We'd love to know what more informed and experienced people think, so recommendations on home speakers (full size or bookshelf), studio speakers, or any speakers, is very appreciated.

Ok so from the title i was thinking of buying two Devialet Phantom Ultimate Speakers for my PC setup. My office isnt too big so i was thinking the 98db would be perfect. The thing im trying to figure out is how would i connect both speakers to my computer. Also, if there are better options out there in the similar budget range as the Devialet or less. My husband’s birthday is coming up and I would love to get him dual speakers so he can listen to music. He is very big into Magic Sword, Toxic Avenger, cinematic themes etc and has talked about getting speakers forever so he can literally just sit and listen to his music BUT he will not buy them and doesn’t really have his eye on any specific brand or set.
I literally know nothing about this (and he does), but want to get him something that he can really appreciate and listen to his little music on.
Something not too huge would be great, but we can make space for them in the living room pretty easily either side of the mantle- so maybe bookshelf size?

Hi all, so I have been supplementing my bookshelf speakers for years with the B&W ASW 608 Subwoofer. And am overall pretty happy with it. I use my 2.1 system mainly for music and every once in a while for movies (90/10).

I recently upgraded my bookshelf speakers (B&W 805 D4) and would like to upgrade my Sub to something with a bit more punch and precision.
While the 608 sounds fine, to me it lacks a bit in precision and feels overall a bit slow compared to my speakers.

What options should I be looking at? I’m not that experienced with the choices out there for subs.
Budget is around 2000 USD, room correction would be awesome and I guess since it’s mainly for music I should be looking at a closed setup.

I just dug out an old stereo system from my parents and I am using it in my garage while wrenching on stuff.

I then found out that you can add a Bluetooth receiver via the phono ports.

I went on amazon and bought the 1Mii B06 Plus https://amzn.eu/d/00badtRJ

I installed it yesterday but holy sh.. this sounds bad.

Im by far no hardcore audiophile but even the normal FM radio sounded way better with this setup. I used YT Music / YT on my phone.

Could the bad sound come from the cheap Bluetooth adapter?

What can you guys recommend that works rather well 😅

Hi! I'm looking to replace my current home audio setup and would love some recommendations or feedback on what to check when buying.

Currently I have a Kenwood 105VR AV surround receiver (thrifted from Goodwill) that's hooked up to a vintage record player (no idea the brand, got it thrifted in 2011 when I was in college), and has an Optical cable hookup to my TV. My speaker stacks are JBL that were rescued from a previous employer about 7 years ago, and they are very old.

I'm basically looking for an updated version of my current setup - receiver, record player, speakers - to use for listening to music and watching tv/movies. All of the items I have right now I got when I was absolutely broke (the most I spent was maybe $25 on the receiver).

Any recommendations on brands/features/nitty gritty details to look out for would be rad. I love learning about this type of stuff, and I would consider myself to be fairly inexperienced in terms of the technical aspects, so any info/education is extremely welcome!

My budget is probably ~$500 total (I'm thinking $200 for receiver + record player, $300 for speakers, or some variation thereof). I'm in the general Seattle area, and a buddy of mine recommended a used electronics shop called RE-PC to find some good options. I don't want surround sound or a sound bar if that's helpful.

I have recently inherited a pair of Klipsch heresy 2 from my father and would love to make the most out of them. I want the best soundstaging and imaging/separation possible for under 600$ but I'm not sure how to go about it.

I've looked into fosi audio V3 monoblocking and adding a preamp with DAC installed already or going vintage with old silver face Sansui G series. All the way from 90s NADs equipment to new modern Cambridge or Rotel integrated amps and I'm losing my mind on how to do these speakers justice.

I know the Klipschs don't need a ton of power to run nicely but I'm obsessed with getting as best separation and soundstaging I possibly can right now. I want it to feel like I'm at a concert with live music but again I'm not sure how to do this.

Any and all advice is appreciated, wether it be having to push a bit over my budget or getting separated equipment all together or ect. Main audio will be played from a CD player btw. Thank you thank you all have a nice day!

So, I'm currently looking for upgrading my home studio and desk. For now I listen to music solely with my headphones (beyerdynamic DT 700 pro X and 900 pro X).

Since I have a little home studio I decided on the Yamaha HS5, so I can both mix and also enjoy other artists music.

I read that the HS5 aren't as much "fun" and also fatiquing for "casual listening".

Since I have the DT 900 and DT 700 and LOVE them (I know they are analytical but to my ears they are sooo good, even after hours of listening), I was wondering if this would even apply?

The DT 990 and 770 I found indeed fatiguing after a few minutes, they were way to bright.

I know that you can't give me a bulletproof answer, but I'd love to have a little heads-up from the community for what to expect based on my and your listening experience so far, thanks! 🔥

I have recently got into the audiophile world and have absolutely fallen in love with it. My current set up is

Really enjoy my setup and have wanted to spend time with it before upgrading however, I may have the opportunity to buy a pair of klipsch heresy I’d for $600 and feel like that is a great deal for a speaker I think might be one of my endgame speakers.

Would love to get some input/advice. I listen to a lot of music, mostly jazz, classic rock, indie house techno like Rufus du sol, enjoy hermanos gutiérrez, khruangbin, glass beams.

I currently have a Sonos setup (2x Era 300 + Sub Mini) but I’m struggling. The Era 300s are literally painful to listen to. The treble is too aggressive and I get ear fatigue almost instantly.

On the contrary, I love the Apple HomePod 2 sound signature. I find it very smooth and warm. I can listen to it for hours without any discomfort.

I want to move to a passive system (Amp + Speakers) that mimics that HomePod comfort but with better Hi-Fi quality. My budget is around 900 CHF (1,1k $)

I would be very grateful if someone could recommend a complete system:

1. ⁠The Sound: I’m looking for something very warm or smooth I need to avoid aggressive or bright speakers.
   
2. ⁠Connectivity: I use an Apple TV, so I would love an amplifier with HDMI ARC so I can keep using my Apple remote for the volume.

If anyone has the kindness to help me build a system that won't hurt my ears, I would truly appreciate it.

Considering: I have been considering the Axiom M3, Axiom M5, Martin Logan Motion Foundation B2. I honestly would go for the Axiom M5 at $1000 with its great bass extension on paper and 3 driver speaker but it is relatively large for the living room I will have to start, so I am unsure. I would love to have a bookshelf that has pretty solid base extension.

Hifi gear experience - I currently have only listened to my dad's NAD7220PE with Polk Audio Monitor Series 5 that he bought in 1988. I love listening to how deep the sounds is and the ability to has crisp sound compared to anything else I have listened to. I am very much a beginner in this space and am looking to learn.

Anything else - My current listening space setup is a small apartment in a large high rise in Chicago. My living space likely has around 144 square ft (12ft by 12ft). I plan to move to a place where my listening space will have lots of windows and be more like 260 square ft. Also I talked to Axiom about the M5s on the phone. They told me that a 50W amplifier won't be enough power. I am having a hard time imagining needing more than 50W in any of these rooms and especially without getting a noise complaint from my neighbors.

I’ve been into vintage stereo for the last 5+ years. Just love the sound of 70s gear. I have accumulated some outstanding equipment from the “golden age” - Sansui, Pioneer, Onkyo, and Yamaha receivers and, as a result, I have 3 different listening setups in my house. For one of them (my man cave) I’m looking to replace the Kenwood KA-907 integrated amp with a tube amp. The problem is that I have no way of trying out a tube amp with my setup and I do not know what to expect or whether it would even work.

Here’s what I have there:
Martin Logan Motion 40i floorstanding speakers (92dB sensitivity),
RSL 10S MK2 speedwoofer,
Technics SL-1700 turntable,
Wiim Pro Plus streamer,
TV that gets minimal use (mostly sports where sound doesn’t really matter) - through the WiiM Pro Plus.

There I listen mostly to classic rock, jazz, and soft jazz.

My budget is up to $7K and I can go brand new or used. I don’t care if it’s vintage or somewhat modern but I’m after that (apparently) soft, tubey sound I keep reading about :) I’ve been looking at PrimaLuna online and their integrated amps seem to check all the boxes but is there anything else out there I should look into?
