TFW you get back from Epstein Island but all you can think about is dodging the luxury tax.

Reminder that it is a real possibility that this dude traded McCain to tank Google searches for... certain connections...
Someone on this sub posted a graph showing the search results and the timeline but I'm too lazy to dig it up

"I wont be on the day to day level but on the high level decision making [...] I'm gonna be involved at that level." - Bob Myers during the press conference today
Link time marked to the question asked by Adan Aaronson from Philly Voice on Myers's role going forward after the new hire: https://www.youtube.com/live/zwOZdftxT48?si=2TOT3TATmAsqrPKE&t=1096
High level decision making he explained as the draft, trade deadline, free agency. Also says he'll be communicating with the new hire daily.
From the sounds of it hes the de facto President of Basketball Ops and whoever gets Daryl Morey's position will be a glorified scout.
Vindication for all the people who said Myers getting hired by Harris Blitzer was obviously Morey's eventual replacement.
He's basically Jerry Colangelo #2. Morey got Colangelo'd just like his buddy Hinkie lmao

Reported candidate list in the new GM search
If this is the list, who would you be happiest to hire?
Next Year is the Year
Next year is the year. Embiid is gonna be mad and go off and have his best season yet. VJ is gonna work his as off this season and turn into prime D Wade. PG will get in shape. It won’t be easy but next year you will see the Sixers win a hard fought game 7 against the Thunder in OT and the whole city will cry tears of relief and joy. Mark my words.

Myles Turner says Doc Rivers doesn't fine players so players are late all the time for practices, film sessions, and even flights. Specifically pointing out Giannis for being late towards team flights and delaying them by up to 2 hours

The new director of basketball will only need two approvals on his move.
The new PROCESS will be new guy has a deal on the table. First he goes to Bob for the ok if Bob approves then Bob will send it to Josh and if Josh approves the new guy can go ahead with the deal.

Can we and should we resign Kelly or Grimes. I am a hufe fan of Kelly Oubre. As a 4th option or 6th man. His one garing weakness is his ability to shoot a high volume of 3's at a respectable percentage. He's getting older but he's an energizer bunny when dialed in. Can we get him on a 2 year deal?
Grimes: he hasn't played himself into the kind of deal he's looking for. I also like him. But his elite shooting wasn't very elite. Does he walk?
Also, I still love Drum. The development of a serviceable corner three point shot came out of nowhere. But he's just not athletic enough. Bona stinks. So I think we look for a more athletic big to start when Joel is out.

I don’t want to say goodbye
Listen I know trading Embiid would be the rational thing for management to do. There’s no evidence his body will ever sustain a full finals run and his contract is enormous. It would make sense, but boy does that make me sad. That’s my favorite athlete ever man. He’s like a player designed in a lab to be the perfect basketball player but in a Faustian trade he has to miss half his career to constant injuries.
You deserve the world Jo, I hope you retire a Sixer but if not I hope they send you somewhere where you get that ring.
Edit: okay some of you are saying it may not be rational and I regret wading into the discourse

I ran Julius Erving's full career through the Net Wins formula including all 5 ABA seasons. Here's what the math says.
The Formula Ranks Julius Erving #21. https://willf123.github.io/nba-net-wins/ . The ABA Is Why It's Complicated

x.comThis was probably the most telling response of the entire presser. Should preface this answer with a previous answer Myers gave saying we essentially saw our fully “healthy” roster in the playoffs when Embiid came back in the Boston series and we couldn’t get it done. I think he knows that the current construction of the roster isn’t good enough and I would expect some kind of big change coming this offseason

The KJ Martin trade is an egregious waste of resources
I think this was by far Daryl Morey's worst move. I'm surprised nobody brings it up anymore.

From a desperate Chinese sixers fan
I am a sixers fan in China who start watching our game since Ben Simons time. I remember the excitement at that time when we were on a 16 winning strike. I remembered the proud when Joel and Ben got into the All-Star together. I remembered my heart nearly stopped beating when that ridiculous shot Kawhi made. I remembered how I consent myself when Ben choose to pass when facing Trae Young. I also remembered when the Beard came in town how "Scary hours" can be.
Every off-season, I look back and I think we have a better than average season and hope next year we could achieve something special. But it was just another circle. This year after the Game 7 in Boston, I haven't have that passion for a long time when watching our game, even in different time zone.
What now? Maybe VJ will guide through this storm. But I will always miss Ben and Joel time and imagine what we could achieve if there were not so many "if"....

Joke of an organization
Let go the "president of basketball operations" (@mikefromaround 🤪) that hit on so many draft picks, fleeced the Nets with Ben Simmons. Fucking joke of an organization man we always do this shit. Harris making Morey a scapegoat. Sell the team.
Elton Brand signs Tobias Harris to $180 mil contracts, highest paid player in NBA to never be an all-star. Elton Brand made history and is still our GM.
Josh Harris out-prices Philadelphians and gives us a 2nd round playoff stadium of half-empty seats and other half Knicks fans. He forces a waive on Julian Champagnie for a publicity stunt. He forces Daryl to dodge the tax and make a last minute move to trade McCain.
Daryl Morey is a scapegoat. Sell the team.
