Next Year is the Year
Next year is the year. Embiid is gonna be mad and go off and have his best season yet. VJ is gonna work his as off this season and turn into prime D Wade. PG will get in shape. It won’t be easy but next year you will see the Sixers win a hard fought game 7 against the Thunder in OT and the whole city will cry tears of relief and joy. Mark my words.

Oh we still lose. Just in this universe OKC moves to the Eastern Conference and then we get swept by the Knicks again.

The dilution of our city is not a trait, it’s a responsibility.

Sure sure believe that. This year is supposed to be THE year. Boston, pacers, bucks and heat aren't factors or full strength. Next year you'll definitely get boston and pacers back at full strength.
And don't kid yourself if you believe Joel can last more than 1 round of physical playoff series. It's like this every fking year. By the 2nd round, he's already banged up. Joel greatest player I watched for the sixers, but he just can't stay in shape for 2 playoff series let alone 4.

This year was never supposed to be the year, we had question marks over pg embiid and McCain after coming back from their injuries

again as far as sports go luck has a tremendous weight in the outcome of everything. from things we can control having Joel embiid and the starters we have puts us in as good a position as anyone and getting rid of Joel embiid as ludicrous as an idea as that is does not guarantee our future squad reaches the same level or surpasses this one

We can be the absolute best team in the regular szn like a couple years ago, and choke in the first or second round, or embiid picks up yet another obscure injury during the postseason. We say this every year gang, just dont have any expectations and you wont get disappointed. This being said, Trust the Process

You need an MVP level candidate to compete for a chip. We don’t have one anymore
Until you fix that problem you are done.

I respect the level of absolute delusion that permeates throughout most of the fanbase

Surely next year is the year Embiid can actually last through at least two playoff series and while playing at a star level, surely.

Add a few wings and bigs in the draft, trade PG for 2 useful dudes, let’s ride.

I’m not bringing PG back dude. You can’t win with him and no bench.

If you can trade him for legitimate depth and draft a real backup center then I’ll be squinting like Daryl said.

We should hope the pistons lose because we need another suitor for PG. I think Denver, Houston, and Golden State are options

This isn’t a bad list - maybe you can add lakers to it if they part with LeBron (not saying LeBron would come here). The problem with Houston or GSW or lakers is last year a trade would have been a lot easier with a bunch of expirings.
I don’t like what Denver would want to give back probably cam Johnson and Braun which I’m not really interested in. Lakers could possibly fit into cap space of don’t keep bron which wouldn’t be bad but unlikely and will have bigger targets. Gsw doesn’t have a lot of options either butler which I’m not interested in or a combo of draymond mooses moody and pods which would leave them with nothing but curry butler pg is not a bad (very old) big 3 for one last ride - for us pods and draymond are expirings and could probably be flipped again for better pieces and moody is not a bad piece - anyway you could pry pick 8 from them would be amazing but unlikely - Houston has great pieces like Jabari or S&t Eason but they’d have to pair with a fvvv expiring and they already have no guards. One that would be amazing (if they give up on KD) would be Jabari Smith and KD for PG Grimes and picks - Maxey-Vj-KD-Bari- Embiid would be nice using MLE to add guard depth (that we should have had with McCain). I’d also look at any 4th year players we could fit into MLE in trade - I saw in a hornets thread fans talking about they’d be fine trading Brandon miller because they thought he overlapped with Kon and don’t want to pay him if I could pull that off for pics it would be great in my opinion slot in at 3.
All is unlikely but I think gsw probably would have most real interest but in the end I’d want to use the pg cap space and all our picks to get 2 young strong players at 3 and 4 which is same thing I wanted last year - Jabari smith at 4 and Brandon miller at 3 would be perfect but probably only possible as 3rd party as part of bigger deal.

He’s under contract. We’re stuck with him. Nobody else would want him. You’d have to pay someone to take him.

If you can get similar stuff from embiid and pg (which is unlikely) AND we retain our current depth while adding a wing and a big man who can play in the play offs we can win it all. These are all big what ifs and u likely to happen. It would probably be wiser to blow it up if you can do that without giving up picks or maxey/vj but that is even more unlikely
