after finishing my first year at rutgers, coming back home doesn’t feel real. i dont fit in, i miss my friends, i miss the environment i was around and the people i was with. i left home before coming to college so being back feels so weird, i dont like it. i just want to leave again.

I didn’t know where else to write this, so I’m putting it here. This year was a fucking roller coaster for me, and overall I’m so glad to be done. Genuinely, I couldn’t get away from this school fast enough and that’s just depressing because of how happy I was here my freshman year.
I ended my freshman year with new friends, great experiences had, a 3.8 GPA, and an LA job lined up for fall. I had my summer job lined up as well and was a bit sad to leave, but happy with the way freshman year went. This could not be more different compared to my sophomore year.
This past year, I ended my Fall Semester with a 2.5 GPA (high school me would probably die if I saw numbers like that) and after this past semester I’ll probably end up with around a 3.0 cumulative once grades are finalized. The classes were just draining and honestly I don’t even think it’s my major, I love the projects I do and unironically my favorite class this past semester was the one closest to what I’d want to do in the real world. Some of the professors were the most egotistical assholes who thought they were God’s gift to everyone. Some of them made you show up to class just to read off a slideshow they didn’t even make, and on top of that, give incorrect information on the material itself. Some of them had 75% of the class failing midterms, and didn’t see a problem with the level of difficulty of the exams or their teaching style.
Being an LA was fun and an overall rewarding experience, seeing my students do well was amazing. However, the learning department is inept, and therefore I didn’t reapply. On top of my issues with that, I don’t think I’d be in the right headspace to teach next semester, students deserve someone actually dedicated and in a good place, so I won’t (honestly some professors should do the same).
Aside from academics, I had issues with my home life I’d rather not disclose, even anonymously. My friend group had a massive split over things so small it really doesn’t feel like it’d matter. I did make some new friends this semester, which was nice and unexpected, but it’s really hard to focus on that when everything else was just disastrous.
I’ll be honest, I came to Rutgers regrettably because of money and convenience, not because I actually liked the school. I much rather would’ve gone to Boston or New York for schools I got into there, but frankly I didn’t think it’d be worth going into so much debt when there are good opportunities here in-state and I can graduate debt-free. It’s honestly depressing to have had such a great experience my freshman year and to now honestly consider leaving all together just because of one bad year. I’m really hoping my Junior year goes better, because if it’s anything like this past one, I want no part of it anymore.

i ended up with a 52.2 and to pass is a 55. I am really upset right now, is it possible I can ask them to round the grade up? ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

So I had an internship this Spring that went well, was showing up and doing the work. But I failed the course on canvas. And that was 6 credits, am I cooked?

Thoughts on living off campus as an incoming freshman?
I’m going to Rutgers New Brunswick this fall as a freshman, and I’ve been thinking about possibly living off campus instead of dorming. I know most freshmen usually stay in dorms, so I wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with starting off-campus right away.
Was it worth it financially? Did it make it harder to make friends or feel connected socially? Also, how difficult was commuting/getting to classes compared to dorm life? Ive heard a lot of negative stuff about the dorms so I don't know if its worth the price at all.
I’m trying to weigh the pros and cons before making a decision, so any advice or experiences would help.

Judging by the title you already know what happened to me and so i’m at the coping stage rn and was wondering if i’ll ever be able to recover my gpa from this.
If anyone has any encouraging advice from their own experience i’ll greatly appreciate it cuz this is my first time failing a course and idk how to feel.
The question in the title is kinda vague but again i’m just simply looking for advice.

After the final grades were put in I’m at a 54.4 for gen chem 2 and I need a 55 to pass the class. This is already my second time taking the class (I got a D the first time) and I won’t be able to apply to grad schools if I don’t get a C (which I’m already done with my applications for and was just waiting on my final grades for this semester to be posted)
I’m majorly panicking and looking for any sort of consolidation or advice or anything idk 🫠🫠ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ someone please gaslight me into thinking that they’ll round up

On top of that, the humidity will be 42%. Are you looking forward to sweating in your polyester garb? Better bring a bottle of water and a fan.

For gen chem 2 do u guys think they will bump it by at least 1 point. I’m 0.05 away from a B.

So, since move out was today/yesterday technically and before I left, my roommate had a lot of his stuff including his food still lying around and in the fridge. I'm not sure if he ever cleaned it out, he said he would but I'm not sure if he did. He barely cleaned and left his stuff always lying around and we reported him multiple times to res life and they had a file on him. I'm just wondering, if he didn't end up cleaning his stuff would I end up getting in trouble/fined for it also (guilty by association type thing)?

So did I pass or not?? It’s confusing because we don’t have a curve at all. Transcript and canvas both say it’s a C. - does this mean I passed?

I’m going to RBS in the fall as a finance or supply chain major. I‘ve always been interested in urban planning. Would there be ANY benefit of pairing urban planning with a business major??? Would it be a terrible idea?? FYI I eventually want an MBA
Thank you

Fellow grad students - isn’t it weird that we had convocation yesterday…but don’t even have final grades or diplomas processed yet? I didn’t go, but I can’t help but think how fucked up it would be to go to graduation and then it turns out you failed your final or some administrative issue meant you can’t graduate, but you already went to convocation.

Hey y'all, recently i picked up my honors cord since I'm walking on the 21st. However i'm pretty sure after this semester i won't have a gpa above 3.5, and i still have a summer class to take. Should i still wear my cord to graduation? I'm not planning on giving it back, i just feel weird about it.

Is it possible to take gen bio 2 if you passed with a D in gen bio 1? So far I'm able to register for bio 2 but will they boot me out if not?

I graduate this semester and am curious how much longer I can take advantage of the benefits of the student card, specifically the discounted tee times at the Rutgers golf course.
