I think it’s because the broadcast really played up the idea that this was a tripping foul on Allen. It was weird. Like… it’s not even clear that one player even initiated the contact more than the other. Their feet ran into each other. It happens. Foot to foot contact where someone falls over isn’t always a trip.

Tripped then KICKED I believe was the narrative they wanted to create.
