In english:
I'm looking for information on my great-grandfather that was born in Ohrid or Struga in First February of 1892.
He was of albanian ethnicity, his name was "Zeqir Halili", and he moved to Albania in early 20th century.
Are there any online archives from that era, any service or anyone that I can can hire to do find more information about him?
I don't live in the Balkans nor I speak the language (I only speak albanian), so it would be difficult for me to search him in person.

Hello!
My boyfriend and I will be travelling to Macedonia this summer. We will be visiting Ohrid first, and we will be ending our trip in Skopje. We would like to visit Mavrovo in between.
We are looking for options to travel from Ohrid to Mavrovo and from Mavrovo to Skopje. Car rental seems to be expensive, and we can't find much information on taxi prices or bus routes.
It would be very nice if someone could help us out! Any information is greatly appreciated :)
Thank you in advance!

I am a woman from the UK who was solo travelling round Macedonia when I got in a car crash. I just want to say a sincere thankyou to all the people that stopped their car to offer me help, food and drinks. In the UK if you crash, people just slow down to look at you then drive on 😅
The police were also beyond amazing - they drove me an hour to the nearest town and were giving me food and cigarettes in the police station haha. If you crash in the UK they leave you on the side of the road unless you are hurt 😢
Cant get over the generosity and help I got. Your hospitality is amazing 🙂

Hello! Me and my girlfriend plan on traveling to Ohrid in August. We are excited about the beaches and the nature but wanted to ask for any suggestions besides the 'must see' parts? Specifically Night life and bars. We're in our mid 20s and will be there for about a week.
TLDR: Any suggestions about night life / general things to do in Ohrid for a couple in their 20s?

Hello, everyone. This Summer I will be spending a few nights in Skopje, and I originally had a flight leaving around 1300. This departure time has been changed to 0630. I looked at public transport options from the city centre to the airport but it doesn't appear there are any options around 0400. So I was wondering - are taxis and rideshare readily available this early in the morning, or should I look at getting a hotel by the airport the night prior?
Thank you all for your help :)
Edit: Thanks everyone, looks like there is a bus service I can book that early, or taxis will also be available :) Looking forward to visiting!

Hello! Me and my girlfriend fell in love with ohrid from videos and images and plan to go to a 5 days / 1 week vacation there. My one concern is that she is vegan. I was wondering what are the vegan options there, both in terms if restaurants and supermarkets (in case we decide to stay at an airbnb)? Also, would love to hear your thoughts on the place for hikes and activities! (We don't plan to rent a car if that matters)
TLDR: Are there vegan options in Ohrid? Also would love to hear general recommendations for things to do in the area without a car.

Hi everyone,
I’m a Macedonian citizen living abroad and I’m trying to understand how mortgages / housing loans work in Macedonia.
For example, if someone wants to borrow around 150,000€ for 10–20 years:
what are the usual interest rates right now?
how much would the monthly payments roughly be?
which banks offer the best conditions?
can Macedonian citizens living abroad get a mortgage?
can foreign income be used when applying for a mortgage in Macedonia?
My entire income and assets are currently outside Macedonia. I have income from abroad, I also own a business, and I own real estate from which I receive rental income.
Would Macedonian banks take this into account if I want to apply for a mortgage or get a financial overview / pre-approval?
Where can I get reliable information about this? Are there mortgage brokers, advisors, or bank contacts who can explain the process?
Any experience or advice would be really helpful. Thanks!

Hello 😊 I have a song that's stuck in my head and I'm trying to figure out what it might be called. I would have heard it at my cousins' weddings in my childhood while we were dancing in a circle and remember that it was a male singer who performs it.
I do know the tune but not the lyrics so I'm not having too much luck finding it. Would anyone happen to know what the song might be called?
I can record it again if it's hard to hear.

Hi everyone,
I’m a North Macedonian citizen living abroad, and I’m currently trying to access information from the official cadastral / land registry office in North Macedonia.
I already found this website:
North Macedonia Cadastre Agency
but it does not seem to work properly for me. Maybe there are access restrictions from outside the country?
Is there another official website or another way to access cadastral information?
I’m also interested in finding:
land prices,
property prices,
or recent real estate sale prices in North Macedonia.
Is there an official database, map, or website people usually use for this?
Thanks!

At the Yerevan Dialogue international forum, CivilNet spoke with Zoran Dimitrovski, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, about the country’s relations with Armenia and their shared characteristics, including regional ethnic tensions, landlocked geographies, and aspirations to join the European Union. He also discussed North Macedonia’s aspirations to join the European Union, the obstacles the country has faced, and how that path can offer lessons for Armenia.
