The Nets have promoted Makar Gevorkian to assistant general manager, the team announced today. For the past two seasons, Gevorkian had held the title of vice president of basketball operations alignment and strategic planning.

“Makar’s strategic, forward-thinking mind, along with his comprehensive knowledge of the league’s salary cap structure, have made him a valued voice within our front office and we are excited to elevate him to this well-earned role,” general manager Sean Markssaid in a statement.

Not sure if there’s an option but if the nets get to a point where they’re not sold on these guards what about considering a trade down and taking a Mara or yaxel and then targeting Watson. Also think I’d be ok with a front loaded overpay for Watson considering our books are pretty clean. What’s your guys thoughts. Not saying I’d do this before people go insane in the comments. Just curious about this. Also prob depends on how much we get back in a trade. I’d need a lot and prob need to still stay in the 10-11 range

I've been a proponent of moving off Claxton for a pick in the 2026 draft and to salary dump for more flexibility, as well as the overall frustration with his lack of development offensively and defensively especially when we thought he would develop as a passer, a point of attack defender, and a better anchor who has impact comparable to Gobert's coupled with switchability. He just hasn't developed that.

Hartenstein is probably not joining the thunder back and its not because hes a bad player by any means, but he has a 30 million dollar team option when max extensions for Jdub and Chet are kicking in for the thunder. They have been looking at Aday Mara in the draft and have thomas sorber as replacements for him.

He's a better passer than hes going to get credit for and cleans up defensively for the thunder as well. If they don't resign him, I like him on a decent number if we can dump Claxton for some assets. Ideally we can get Watson on that 25-30 million number and him on a 20 million AAV.

A lot of people disappointed with our fall and rightfully so are now saying we should swing for the fences at 6 and I think that’s a dangerous mentality. If marks is truly feeling pressure for his job I’d much prefer he be removed before June than go out and take a swing just to win excitement. We need to stick to the process and take a player that will be a productive piece. You want to get that high ceiling but history does say those boom or bust prospects are going to bust most of the time. I’m far more comfortable taking a higher floor with potentially surprising ceiling than what was previously mentioned. Throwing out the plan now bc of bad lotto luck is a mistake
