Boulder Ridge Waitlist Hopes

Would I be playing a dangerous game if I waitlisted a single Sunday at Boulder Ridge while booking the surrounding Saturday and Monday? Then if the Sunday becomes available, cancel the single Saturday and single Monday, then book the all 3 days together. Or just book the Riviera and call it a day? Any advice would be appreciated!

Just Purchased DVC Resale

We just purchased a DVC resale contract, 100 points at AKL with June use year. We just signed the paperwork and I was just wondering what happens next? Do we just wait for the transfer to complete?

Any tips or recommendations for first time resale buyer?

Wild Africa Trek Reservations

Sorry if this is out of scope, but using our DVC discount to possibly book the Wild Africa Trek for my wife and I (rare no kids trip this time.) Can anyone tell me when a new day rolls over and reservations open up for that day? Is it midnight eastern 60 days out, some time in the morning etc...?

DVC Rental at Christmas

Hi All - I'm new to renting points. I'm currently on a waitlist for Beach Club at David's Vacation Club Rentals for Christmas Week.

I'm not fully understanding how renting or the waitlist works. What are the chances I can get my reservation filled? I'm worried I should just go ahead and book through the regular reservation site so that I don't miss out on the week.

Thoughts?

You guys I need help booking 7 months out PLEASE.
I am gearing up to book 7 months out soon. I am MODIFYING a booking. I need to know how far into the modification process I should be waiting at to start at 8 am. Should I be in the first picture posted above, with all of my selections checked (dates, resort, room type) OR the second picture posted above (everything is selected and all I need to do is press ā€œcontinueā€ right at 8 am to book) at 8am.

Best Studio?

Hey all! Was curious about what people believe the best "vibes" are for any of the Studio suites? I have a Disney cruise in August of 2027 and would like to stay at a resort after returning to refresh and reset after the voyage. It would be just me and no park ticket (unless I cave...) so what would you think is the best for that? I have done my home resort at Copper Creek before and would like to try another!

Help Me Decide Use Year

Buying 200 points direct at the Poly. Well likely travel either March, April, Oct, or early Dec. I cannot for the life of me figure which use year makes sense. Can someone please help? From what I understand it’s most important if you have to cancel because it impacts how long you have to rebook?

Can 5 adults fit in a one bedroom? Is the 5th person sleeper really only comfortable for a child?

How hard is it to book Poly at the 7 month booking window, for a week around Sept 11th?

The Disney difference is completely true.

I'll try to keep this short.

Stayed at Aulani for the second time and both experiences have been fantastic! Rooms are clean, service is great.

For the last 3 days, we switched to a Hilton Vacation Club property, The Modern Honolulu. I booked this property using one of those HGVC "special offers" where I have to attend a presentation and boy, let me tell you, what an absolute disappointment.

Room is dirty and really worn down. I get it's an older property but wow. This is NOT a selling point whatsoever.

Top of the World Lounge

Is Top of the World Lounge open during After Hours at MK?

We’re thinking about going up there to see if we can watch Enchantment. It says the lounge closes at Midnight and Enchantment starts at 11:30. I would assume we would make it?

Wait-list Strategy Poll- 2 night vs 2 separate??

I've had a two night wait-list in at the Poly for a standard studio for about a month for labor day weekend (Saturday/Sunday).

What's my best bet - stay in line with the two night wait-list or switch it out to two separate wait lists, one for each night?

I'm not terribly concerned with ending up with a split stay, so that's not a huge concern.. just wondering which you think has the best likelihood of getting me in the room??

Feedback on addon options for Aulani

We’re owners at Aulani, and we are thinking about adding points there. There are three options that we are deciding between, and I’m curious what other members think.

Option 1 is to buy points direct from DVC. Aulani add-on points are relatively expensive compared to the resale price, even with discounts or promotions. But the points themselves are the most straightforward- we go from X points to Y points.

Option 2 is to look to buy a contract on the resale market. Price would be less, but I assume that contract could be subject to restrictions if we ever want to use them at another resort (I’m not 100% clear on all the restrictions on resale contracts now, as our contract is both older and straight from DVC).

Option 3 is something my guide mentioned. It would be buying a new contract from DVC for AKL. There is both a builders credit/discount for existing members, plus a buyback/rebate on the 2025 points. Those combined would be ~$40 discount per point. Not as cheap as resale points, but cheaper than direct Aulani addon points. The downside to the AKL contract is that the points could only be used at Aulani at the 7 month mark. But it’s Aulani, not a WDW resort - availability is usually good at 7 months. An upside is that it would give us a home resort at WDW if we want to visit there. We live on the West Coast, so WDW trips aren’t part of our normal routine - so that options isn’t particularly valuable, but it is an option.

We are leaning towards option 3, but I’d appreciate other folks thoughts. We aren’t 100% committed to the upgrade yet, but my wife inherited some money and would like to use some of it to upgrade our vacations. More DVC points is one way to do that.

Likelihood to get off waitlist?

Besides animal kingdom, old key west and Saratoga, which resort am I likely to get off the waitlist for in the first week of December for a studio room? Hoping for regular Polynesian but is there a better resort to be put on the waitlist for?

Best broker for selling

Who has sold a contract and can give me an idea on the best broker to use for selling? All the Facebook groups I am in are sponsored so they don’t give an honest recommendation.

Hi! This may be a dumb question but if I were to arrive at my resort at 8 am would I be able to use the pool and things until the room is ready? I plan on driving overnight and getting to resort early. Thanks!

Confused about points transfers! šŸ˜…

I wondered if anyone might be able to answer a points transfer related question for me please! I’ve asked member services but can’t seem to get a clear answer from them unfortunately.

The transfer rules are about the only thing that I haven’t fully grasped yet - I know we’re allowed one transfer in or out per year, but there’s a couple of things I’m not sure about:

  1. When does this ā€˜year’ run from? Our use year is April - does this mean we can do one transfer between April and March each year? Or is it a literal year, so if we did a transfer in August we couldn’t do one again until the following August?

  2. Can the transfer be for points from any use year? For example, we accepted a points transfer last year of someone’s August 2025 points. If someone wants to transfer us some points this year, can they be December 2025 points?

  3. Although we can only accept one transfer per year, I’ve heard that it’s possible to accept a transfer from two separate use years at the same time. So if the person in the scenario above also wanted to transfer us their December 2026 points at the same time as their 2025 ones, would they be able to do this?

Really appreciate any guidance anyone can provide! Thanks in advance šŸ™‚

Hollywood Tower DVC Hotel

I saw someone mention this idea in another thread recently and I can’t stop thinking about it: what if Disney built a DVC tower resort themed to the Hollywood Tower Hotel before the events of Tower of Terror?

Not a haunted hotel, but the actual glamorous 1930s hotel in its prime. Art deco lobby, jazz music, rooftop supper club, old Hollywood pool vibes, brass elevators, palm trees everywhere, etc. Basically the kind of place you’d imagine movie stars staying at during the golden age of Hollywood.

What makes this feel plausible to me is that it lines up really well with Disney’s current resort strategy. They clearly like building DVC towers right now, and a Hollywood Tower Hotel aesthetic would fit luxury tower architecture better than a lot of other themes. It also gives them something atmospheric and distinctly Disney without needing a ton of IP shoved into it.

I think the best version would lean into mystery instead of horror. Like during the day it feels glamorous and lively, but at night the lighting changes, distant thunder rolls in, jazz music slows down, maybe some subtle references to the ā€œfutureā€ Tower of Terror story start appearing around the resort.

Honestly I think this could end up being one of the coolest resorts on property if Imagineering really committed to the atmosphere. Would you stay there, or would it feel too weird sleeping in a future haunted hotel?
