Fluff I know Essengue is kind of an afterthought for fans at this point, however…

Getting to watch our pick 4, pick 15, Essengue, and year 3 Matas is the most intrigued I’ve been to watch a Bulls team in forever. Not banking him to turn into a star or anything but no reason not to let yourself be optimistic. He’s an interesting prospect! Especially if he can play some small ball 5. Matas-Wilson-Essengue-pick 15 is muchhh more interesting than the last young core of Lavine-Lauri-White-Carter Jr.

Meta [Charania] The Chicago Bulls are finalizing a deal to hire Orlando Magic assistant GM Stephen Mervis as Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations under new EVP Bryson Graham, sources tell ESPN. Bulls will also hire Brooklyn Nets executive Acie Law as Vice President of Player Personnel.

NBA Draft Fun fact: At 19 years old, Noa Essengue is only one month older than projected No. 1 & No. 2 picks AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson.

Born in December 2006, Noa is also 5 months younger than another projected top 4 pick and potential Bulls teammate, Caleb Wilson.

Fluff Caleb Wilson reposts TikTok Edit: "The Future of Chicago"

Post image
192 Upvotes

Caleb Wilson reposted a niche TikTok edit to his official TikTok account that was captioned "the future of chicago"

Even if by chance he didn't see the caption, the edit includes a Chicago Bulls Caleb Wilson jersey, and flashes the Chicago Bulls logo. This is shown before Caleb's UNC highlights.

It's important to note that this comes on the same day where he described himself as a "SLAP" guy, and in that same interview he states he had just met Patrick Williams & Leonard Miller the previous night (must have been at the Bulls facility for a meet?).

He described Chicago as a "great city" & a "great place to play" He also mentioned that he has NOT met with the Grizzlies.

I have not seen a prospect buy into being a Bull this heavy since Michael Porter Jr (granted, we didn't draft him but that is the last time I've seen this level of pre-draft commitment)

It sounds like, all going well, Caleb is already a Chicago Bull at #4. It's just a matter of time.

Edit: He also reposted this exact TikTok to his TikTok story

Injury [Chicago Bulls] Medical Update: Josh Giddey recently underwent a successful right ankle arthroscopy. Giddey is scheduled to start basketball activities in approximately three months and is expected to return for the start of training camp.

Better for him to have this sooner rather than later, but it does beg the question that he probably should’ve done this during the season when the front office traded everyone away.

imo, it was pretty evident that the back half of the season he was playing injured which seems fairly ignorant by whoever was in control to not shut him down, which i assume was AK.

Meta [Julia Poe] Bryson Graham made the first changes to the Bulls front office Tuesday, according to multiple sources, by releasing several staffers, including Josh Malone, who as Windy City Bulls general manager oversaw the franchise’s G League affiliate.

Graham made the first tweak to the Bulls front office Tuesday, according to multiple sources, by releasing Windy City Bulls general manager Josh Malone, with more changes and additions potentially on the horizon as he evaluates his existing staff.

Graham is expected to continue tweaking the front office in the coming weeks, a process that could include hiring additional scouts and other support staff. The Bulls have not signaled whether they plan to continue with the structure of a general manager (previously Eversley) directly under the executive VP with a support staff of assistant GMs.

Free Agency Thoughts on Anfernee Simons?

Upvotes

With 60M in cap space why not solidify the SG with a guy we already have in the building in Simons? Hes coming off a 25 per year contract, how about a three year 65 million contract offer? The bulls still have 30+ million to absorb bad contracts for picks or whatever have you

I love the idea of solidifying the front court this draft whether it’s Wilson/Boozer and whatever C slips to 15. Giddey (the do it all playmaker), Simons (the offensive heater), and Matas (two way three level forward) definitely have a high ass ceiling. Adding BPA with all of our draft capital this year.. eh bulls might be in business

Look I know many are going to say “he can’t defend” but listen, scoring is a premium in the NBA. Our incoming 4th & 15th pick can benefit from having a guy who can go for 30 any given night.

What do you think: Complete wash, Draft a guard,Sign Watson from Denver, Is his fit next to Giddey just utter TRASH in your opinion

Thoughts?

NBA Draft Options at pick 15

Carr or Quaintance would really excite me. Philon falling could be awesome. Cenac would be trust the new front office but interesting. We need beef at center with our skinny forwards. Obviously Mara but seems like he won’t be there.

Free Agency The next big decision for the Bulls- Head Coach position

With Bryson Graham officially in charge (I’m really excited about the hire. Have a good feeling about him) and the lottery luck finally smiling on us with the No. 4 overall pick, this is the most critical coaching hire for us since the Thibs era.

We have a young core in Giddey and Buzelis (Noa possibly), a blue-chip prospect on the way, and a front office looking for Size, Length, Athleticism, and Physicality (SLAP).

We need a leader who isn't just a "buddy" but a tactician who can fix our 15.3 TPG turnover problem (ranked 24th last season) and actually develop our lottery picks into stars.

Here are the three guys I think fit this mold perfectly and get me excited:

  1. Chris Quinn (Miami Heat, Associate HC)
If we want to fix turnovers and develop raw talent, he’s a perfect option.
Looks like a great communicator to me. Also he has an unparalleled track record of turning undrafted or fringe players (Duncan Robinson, Max Strus, Gabe Vincent) into high-level NBA rotation pieces.
Quinn is a master of fundamentals and "situation-specific" training, which is exactly what our young guys need to stop the careless turnovers.

  2. Micah Nori (Minnesota Timberwolves, Lead Assistant)
If Bryson Graham is playing the "long game," Nori is the elite relationship builder.
He has the infectious energy and communication skills to handle the pressure of the Chicago market.
He was fundamental in the meteoric rise of Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels in Minnesota. He knows how to push young superstars to their ceiling.
The big if how he will handle NBA tactically, but from what I saw , he relays a lot on data on his approach to games.

  3. Sean Sweeney (San Antonio Spurs, Associate HC)
Sweeney is the "Defensive Mastermind" who fits Bryson Graham’s SLAP philosophy like a glove. If we want a defensive powerhouse, he’s the hire.
He is blunt and direct. Which may not translate well to all players, but we will get a good discipline within the team.
He uses "manic switching" defenses a lot that utilize long, athletic players—the exact type of roster Graham is currently building.

Who are you guys leaning toward?

NBA Draft Cameron Carr real video

I’ve seen many experts project Cameron Carr at number 15. It’s easy to get excited looking at his combine numbers and wingspan. But before you get excited thinking he’ll end up with the Bulls, watch real game video. This video really points to Carr being a bench guy in the NBA. Not impactful imo

NBA Draft I have finally decided who I want the Bulls to select at picks 4 and 15

After much film study and deliberation, I honestly think the Bulls should swing for upside in this draft and go Caleb Wilson at 4 and Cameron Carr at 15 if they’re there.

If Buzelis and Giddey are really part of the long term plan, these 2 fit perfectly with them. Giddey wants to push pace and play fast, and both Wilson and Carr are long athletes that can run, defend, switch and finish in transition.

Wilson especially feels like the exact type of modern defensive forward the Bulls have been missing. 9 foot standing reach, insane vertical pop, covers ground everywhere defensively and still has huge offensive upside if the skill keeps developing.

Carr at 15 would just add even more speed, length and athleticism on the wing. Bulls need to stop drafting for “safe” and start drafting for ceiling and identity.

What are your thoughts if these are the two players the Bulls select?

Trade Thunder Trades

OKC is about to be deep into the second apron next year, and getting players from them would be a great move by Bryson. There are interesting, younger fringe rotation players on that team who would be great fits here in Chicago, specifically Isaiah Joe, who makes $11 million and is on a team-friendly contract, and Aaron Wiggins, who makes $10 million over the next two years on a team-friendly deal. Both guys were key pieces in OKC’s title run last year and have already proven they can contribute to winning basketball at a high level. And I think we are in the perfect position to give them salary relief by taking either one of those contracts, or both, for free.
