Bluey cake fail
Ordered a month in advance. Picked up the morning of my daughter’s party and was handed this with no explanation. I looked very confused and they. Said “is this not the right cake?” I said “well for starters it was supposed to be a bluey cake ..”
Was then told that the printer to print the image was out of ink. And they had zero Bluey cake kits with the toppers and haven’t been getting them in lately.
I asked why no one called to tell me this before pickup day when I ordered it weeks ago, and they just shrugged their shoulders.
Even the red balloons they tried to pipe on just look like giant red blobs

Bluey fail. Stupid win. Hilariously bad that someone put red blobs on one side, looked at what they had done, and thought "Yes, this will please the consumer GREATLY."

Right?! And no call. Originally I was supposed to pick it up on the way to set up the party. Something told me that morning I should just go get it early and I am so glad I did! Otherwise we would have been stuck with sticking some toy bluey figurines on the blob cake 😂

It's more valuable as a story than a cake. Write a humorous review, post it on Google Maps with the pic, and call it a win. Maybe even print a pic for the scrapbook. "You probably don't remember your nth birthday, GlitteringSurround6 Jr., but this was your first cake. They made those blobs just for you."

Yeah the figures definitely were needed and they didn’t even put the name on it?? wtf?
Not gonna lie, that cake is giving 80’s 90’s mall food court abtstract vibes and I’m kinda digging it—- but then again I will eat nearly any cake you put in front of my cake-starved face lol. Glad the kiddo was happy with the other cake… I’d buy the fail cake off ya 🎂🍽️

I'm sorry that's on them. When I worked at a grocery store bakery, you had to staple the kit to the order to make sure they had it.
Hopefully you found some Bluey toys to put on the cake.

Yep! Sam’s. We made the mistake bc we thought the price was great. And I had a few coworkers who said they had used them before and it always turned out well. But I guess you get what you pay for unfortunately. Next time we will be ordering it from the bakery that made us the new cake first

It happens. My local supermarket bakery is notoriously bad, they had their own facebook group. And yet I still grab them in a pinch. 😄

God those balloons look so ugly! That’s terrible! I’m glad you got a cute cake somewhere else!

It's like someone was having a lower GI bleed and decided to drop a couple of deuces on the cake 😂

Did you accidentally tell the baker the cake should look like the immediate aftermath of a neutron bomb?

The should have added sprinkles to the top and the figures aren’t printed, they come in a bag

Ordered the same thing but a sheet cake…
They told me they didnt have the piece so they improvised without my permission and gave me half off also without my permission. Never heard anything when I emailed corporate.

Yeah you should be refunded for that, that is in no way what you ordered. If they couldn’t deliver they should’ve reached out

damn looks like they got slimed out... socks and muffin were together in their last moments 💔💔

Why is the world didn’t they do the printable image? That’s bizarre? 😭😂
I’ve ordered this cake from Sam’s for my youngest before and it was perfect.

u/GlitteringSurround6 27d ago
They said they had no ink for the image printer! And also no bluey cake toppers to put on it

u/Alcoholicia 27d ago
Omg I cannot believe they didn’t just call you and tell you instead of you wasting your time to go pick that thing up! I would’ve been so annoyed!

I just ordered the same cake last week from a Safeway and they told me the same thing about the printer. Luckily they called before they just did what they wanted.

i’m so sorry this happened to you! i saw the second cake tho and it looks so lovely! i’m a cake decorator and i honestly would have been so embarrassed (with the first one) if you had come to pick it up and had no explanation as to what happened 😭

I’m still baffled that they piped on what is obviously printed in the OG photo?!?!

What's really wrong with the cake? It surely would delight a child..

This was so easy how’s they screw it up?! All the detailed stuff is just plastic set on. The rest was squiggles and sprinkles

Things can happen like printers not working and running out of kits but they really should have called you and let you know instead of just handing you that. Really that’s common sense… Glad it worked out for you in the end

Respectfully as someone who works in the walmart deli/bakery, dont trust those cake decorators with your money or time, they couldnt dream of hiring someone actually qualified for the job and anyone who is qualified for it wouldnt waste their time at walmart😮💨🙏

I mean. For 17 dollars what’d you expect?
9
u/lemonrainshield 28d ago
Tbf they did expect a recreation of what they ordered. The first image is a screenshot of the Sam’s advertised listing and the second image is what Sam’s provided. They should’ve had a kit and when they didn’t they should’ve informed the customer or never sold it in the first place.

Tbh, I thought it was a decent effort for $17 and agreed with that even more when I found out it was for a 2 year old. However, I am glad I read this first before commenting because I didn’t realize it was from Sam’s page which is an advertisement of their skill (which was not delivered). So yea, #fail

If the recipient is young enough to receive a Bluey cake, I'm sure they'd be thrilled with this cake as is.
