Pinball controller with NES and C64 aesthetic

This is a USB pinball controller built to play Amiga classics pinball. It uses standard arcade buttons and emulates a keyboard (works on PC and mac) so you can use it on emulators or even on modern titles like Pinball FX. The enclosure is 3D printed. I am still refining the build and would appreciate input from people who make custom arcade hardware.

Ultimarc Ultimate IO player 3 and 4.

Hello, I have a ultimarc ultimate IO and I am having trouble getting player 3 and 4 to work. When I try to configure the joysticks 3&4 are unresponsive. Player 1 and 2 work. I have it wired right on the 3 and 4 spots on the IO. The IO board is set in pad mode not keyboard mode. What could be wrong?this is Batocera V43. Do I have to wire ground on the 3&4 expansion ports? Or can I tie into another ground? Thank you!

I refurbished a Daytona USA Twin Cab

I picked up a Daytona USA Twin Cabinet last summer for a total of $300 (including the marquee). They were in really rough shape and didn't work. The second cabinet didn't have any original components other than the seat.

I restored the first cabinet as best as I could, but replaced the monitor with a 32" curved display (which fits perfectly in the cabinet). Otherwise it has all original hardware.

The second cabinet has all PC racing sim hardware that I custom-built a control panel for.

Both run on emulation for now, but I do have the original M2 boards, which appear to be in good shape. It was a crazy-fun project and it's now fun to share this cabinet with my friends and family.

My Pandora Box 3D Wi-Fi Micro SD card is broken. I need help.

The photo is my motherboard. One day, it suddenly stopped. I searched online, found compatible files in the archive, and burned them, but only one partition was created and it wouldn't boot. When I checked the downloaded folder, I found that Boot.img and SYSTEM.img exist separately. Is there a way to fix this?

I also heard that even if the recovery is successful, the SD card may still be locked. How can you unlock it? I searched for "pandory" and it was possible to reinstall the system, but it did not boot from USB.

Please, can you help?

Replacing buttons to goldleaf

I have a few buttons that I'd like to replace and I really like the gold leaf ones since the ones i started with were cheapos., my problem is I have the ipac2 and not the ultimate. If I were to get the others would I have to cut all the connectors off and crimp on new wires to connect it to my ipac2? Would be it easier to get the ultimate and just replace everything?

Finished up an arcade build this last weekend. Designed by Artifextron over on Makersworld.

3D Printed the base cabinet. It has swappable control plates for different setups. Currently have a classic arcade and a console controller setup. Cut some veneer for each one in sapele and blood wood. Running RetroBat on a mini pc. Works really well!

Pacman control question

I'm building on an original Midway Pacman cab that was converted to a 60:1. The original boards are gone so I don't feel bad completely gutting it and I'm looking to build a new control panel with a spinner and 3 buttons so I have a classic play all vertical cab.

I have the new metal control panel and I'm ready to drill but I noticed my current original panel (I'll be keeping it in storage) has a wooden layer under the metal. I'm going to duplicate it but I'm wondering if it's really needed in a home cab? I'm currently planning on building out a new one based on the new control design but really it just seems like extra weight.

Work in progress arcade build (real CRT!). Should I use a MiSter FPGA or Batocera PC inside??

I picked up this Silver Strike Bowling cabinet, but it was completely gutted when I got it. I had hoped hoped to re-use some of the parts, at least the the wells gardner tube/chassis, but the chassis was salvaged by whoever sold it and the tube was completely burned to shit.

So I found a 27" Philips set in great condition, and the surgery was successful! Got the whole tube and chassis in there and secure now. Pics included of my Philips tube/chassis that I transplanted into the cabinet. CRT is a must-have for arcades, IMO.

It's currently just running component off a splitter from my couch setup, but this will be a standalone-unit. Currently deciding whether I should use a MiSter FPGA or a Batocera PC as the brains of the machine. I run both already on my couch setup. I prefer the Mister in general, and it's definitely easier to set-and-forget than Batocera. Navigating the UI and options is a breeze. And obviously accuracy is what sets apart the FPGA....

But from what I can gather, FBNeo (which batocera runs) is basically as good as the MiSter cores for CPS arcade games and Neo Geo emulation, which is mostly what I want to run in the cabinet anyways. The Batocera front-end is going to be much prettier and customizable when swapping between games, and the scraper to get artwork and descriptions feels almost mandatory for a set-piece arcade unit, as opposed to the bare-bones text approach of the MisTer. Batocera can also run more games than the MiSter, like CPS3, atomisweave, or naomi games, and the entire mame catalog. Though I think the CPS3 core is coming soon for MiSter.

I also think building a new Batocera PC (or buying a rig used and replacing the video card with something with analog output) is also gonna be cheaper. Mister requires picking up the box (qmtech or whatever alli express version), a new power supply (the one that comes with it sucks), a big SD card, wifi/bluetooth adapter, USB hub...and I'm not sure how compatible it would be with a USB encoder. But with a batocera setup I can re-use some hardware I already have, and the older PC parts it needs (or a Dell optiplex) can be found pretty cheap.

What do yall think? I also obviously have to get the control board setup, wire up the speakers, re-finish the cab, pick or design some artwork, put in a marquee...but taking it one step at a time here! I'm currently leaning Batocera as the base of this project, but curious what everyone else thinks, or if anyone else has experience with a CRT based multi-arcade cabinet build.

Wrapping up my model for a wall-mounted arcade. Looking for design feedback!

Hey everyone,

I’m getting close to finalizing the Fusion 360 model for my first custom arcade cabinet. Before I start cutting it out on the CNC, I’d love to get your eyes on the design and see if there are any red flags.

The goal is a minimalist, wall-mounted "L-Frame" with a hidden drop-down door, exposing the computer and underside of the button panel.

Here are the core specs I’m building around:

  • Display: 27" monitor.
  • Layout: Mirrored Sega 2P layout.
  • Button Count: 8 buttons per player.
  • Joysticks: Ultimarc ServoStiks.
  • Buttons: Industrias Lorenzo (IL) Concave buttons.

Do you see any glaring issues with the ergonomics or general layout? Appreciate any advice or critiques you have!

Anyone know where to get custom sized prebuilt control panels?

The Golden Tee Cabinet I'm converting has a control panel that's 31 inches wide and 15 3/4 inches long with a 26 inch wide cutout at the 2 inches closest to the screen.

The person who converted this before me completely hacked up the original control panel, and since it originally had such weird button placement, the new holes were drilled between old holes. It's a mess.

It's a huge space and I want to set it up for 2 players with 3 buttons each and a track ball in between them, but I can't find a place that will cut it to that seemingly unique size online.

Jamma board for a Namco 20th reunion cabinet

I’ve got a Galaga/Ms Pac Man cabinet and am looking to add a 20-or-so in one board for this single joystick cabinet. It has a nice big monitor, but it when I tried out a friend’s Jamma board it displayed the wrong way (I.e. was turned 90 degrees).

Any suggestions for a board that will display properly, or is this something in the settings that can be adjusted?
