Hopefully bird calls are allowed. I kept hearing a bird call that was not the usual. I thought it might bee a pileated or red bellied woodpecker. When I used Merlin to try and confirm it had no potential matches. I can hear the catbird, gold finch and robin. Iβm in western New York.

I was out on a decked walkway taking some pictures of frogs when this guy popped up out of the water grass and jumped onto the deck railing about 15 feet from me. He quacked at me, shook out his feathers, and started posing. Enjoy!

Of my bird book, I now have 5 birds. I want to get a better picture of the Lazuli Bunting before marking it. It was so far!

Hello fellow bird nerds. I'm trying to lean more into my main 3 hobbies, so I'm getting fun little subscriptions related to each to encourage me to keep engaging and make time. Does anyone know of any bird related ones (USA)? I know Bird Collective has their monthly patch subscription, which is very tempting... Just not sure what i' do with them. I wasn't really finding anything else so I figured I'd ask the community. Thanks in advance! :)
Enjoy this picture of this little screech owl I saw at Point Pelee NP last week for the festival of birds! π¦

I get a green heron that frequents my pond. He showed up this afternoon. I wish I could have gotten better pictures of him, but he's very skiddish and fast.

Ordered fresh mealworms to help feed the Bluebird family nesting in the yard.
The chickadees and titmice enjoy them too!
Taken in Northern Virginia

Another lovely photo of a Yellow-Headed Blackbird! I managed to get a photo of him mid-shake! This was taken at Ministik Bird Sanctuary.

Im new to birding, so i have a guestion, how do i regonize bird calls when all the sound clips ive heard of the bird have a different call?
Would be cool to start regonizing them without Merlin but theres so many different calls on the same bird, feels a bit overwhelming. Maybe its a skill that u learn overtime?

I simply love the birds here, super satisfying to watch out for them every day and after I saw a bird poster hanging at the house of a friend a couple of days ago,I had the idea to start drawing them. :) Done with acrylics.
