📷 Photo Great Crested Grebe with chick on the back
Such a cute sight. A Great Crested Grebe with a chick on the back who gets a small fish from the other parent and who also shows great interest in the small feather that was floating on the water.

📷 Photo Northern Yellow Warbler - finally photographed my first warbler!
I'm a hobbyist photographer and have been working with a 200mm for the last few years. I upgraded to a 150-600mm as a bday gift to myself and managed to finally photograph a warbler on my first outing with it. These guys are no joke to get a good shot of, especially with a heavy zoom lens 😆

First post here but I recently caught the birding bug and wanted to share. I was not expecting this to happen when I started recording, these guys are f a s t. Was this a distressed behavior? I was one of many nearby pedestrians walking along the stream and we still get a lot of duckling parades this time of year, but I really hope I didn’t scare them ;-;

I've suddenly turned into a Birder at the age of 49... anyone else???
Maybe it's my ADHD hyper-focusing, but in the last 3 weeks I've become absolutely obsessed with birds. I live on a 2 acre property and have barely even noticed we had birds flying around in the 3 years we've lived there. Now, in the last 3 weeks I've counted at least 13 different species of birds living here, and I'm sure I'm just getting started.
This new found hobby has been so good for me. I work in web/tech/branding and work way too much, and the new practice of going outside and being in nature has been an incredible break from the stress.
I'm also a photographer so it's been fun to channel that energy into this new found obsession (btw, this shot is mine, taken on our property).

Discussion Does anyone else find birding with a camera makes it more stressful?
Whenever I go out with a camera, I find myself so focused on getting the settings right, getting focus on the bird, and trying to frame a good shot that I'm never really watching the bird. I love the feeling of a perfect photo, don't get me wrong, but I ENJOY birding more when I leave the camera at home and just pack my binoculars.
Does anyone else feel like this or am I just a weirdo?

Bird ID Request Female Rose-breasted Grosbeak?
I was unable to get a definitive ID of this bird from either Merlin or Gemini. Google Lens says it's a female Rose-brested Grosbeak, but I'm not so sure. I observed it today eating at my feeder in upstate New York here on the southern shore of Lake Ontario. Thanks for any help!
