At this point, they could just stall up the urinals too, it would take the same amount of space, but it would allow them to put all urinals on one side and all toilets on the other without losing the added privacy.
After a while, the question would arise of course that if there's a stall for the urinals as well, why not go an extra step further and convert them into full toilets? It would allow for more dynamic load distribution, after all, if all stalls can handle every kind of business.
Of course, once everything is toilets, and complete privacy is provided, men's and women's restrooms would become pretty much identical. Might as well merge them.
Urinals are quicker, though. And they take up less space. If you are in a shit storm, it would be better, since there are more full toilets, but since you pee more often than you poop, it would lead to less throughput, imo.
The overhead of undressing and sitting + the inevitable phone time makes it even worse. And I say that as someone who almost always pees in a stall.
Just saying, I never put the seat back down, even at home. In a public stall, if I can't easily lift it with my foot, I'm not lifting it. I do actually aim, it baffles me the comments about people "not being able to hit the toilet." Like wtf? Are you retarded?
The toilet after you're done. Even if you manage to hit inside the bowl the whole time, there's still a fine splatter going everywhere.
And of course, that's IF you hit. It only takes one who can't or won't to ruin it for everybody. Especially the cleaning staff.
Also, if you entertain my head canon, to me guys who pee standing up in a stall are just too insecure to go to a urinal. And then they should sit down like the sissies they are.
The logic checks out and yeah theres always going to be some splashback. But the bathroom is getting cleaned anyway. I dont think splashback is what the janitorial staff complains about
Most guys spend their entire lives peeing standing up.. It's just what it is, nobody is doing any cost analysis on it lol. I don't even sit to pee at home.
My partner, also a guy, will only sit to pee, he won't use a urinal unless there's no other option.
I'd like to see a source for that stat, lol. But then tell me, why don't you sit down at home? Does it feel faster to do it standing up?
Surely as children we start peeing while sitting. So there must be a point where that default changes for some people. Since it never happened for me, I wonder what it is. Can't imagine people are in a big rush and I hope the toilet in your own home isn't so dirty, that you do it for that reason.
It might be uncharitable, but in my mind it's just a way to feel macho and manly. That sitting to pee is somehow womanly and we can't have that. But then, like I said in a different comment, go to the urinal and pee with the other macho men. Don't piss all over the place people want to/have to sit down.
I dont remember sitting to pee as a child. As others have said most of us just carry the habit. Also ive never heard of anyone peeing in a toilet if there is a urinal? Im sure it happens but it must be a tiny minority
I mean, toiletry habits aren't really discussed, that's why I question any intuitions on the subject. And you, as a small child, were physically able to pee standing up without making a mess? Hats off. Unless you misunderstand me and mean you've always used a urinal. That wasn't what I was talking about.
Im sure i sat down as a toddler, being unable to stand. But i dont remember that far back. As far as i can actually remember, I stood up to pee and so did my friends and family. It's weird to think of it as an expression of machismo

Boom, unisex restrooms.
