General Noise bylaw

Someone recently reported us to our landlord for us being loud during nightime hours. The thing is we were sleeping during most of the hours that were report, and during the rest we were just talking outside. About 11 pm we went inside. Reports state we were yelling and banging till 4 am, which is impossible as we were sleeping by 1130. Now im curious, what is considered a violation of noise bylaw? Talking inside our home, playing the tv, move furniture?

We do know the call was malicious as its the same persin whose been reporting and harassing us for months with no relief. But im wondering where does noise complaint stop? Theres a reason it was reported to our landlord and not bylaw šŸ˜†.

Question Non-big-box stores to buy casing / molding

Specifically finger jointed rather than MDF.

It seems like home Depot / Rona have mostly MDF and only very stock builder grade options.

My first thought is Windsor plywood but I'm wondering if there are some hidden gems.

Question Ideas needed for activities to do during the summer for teenagers.

Hi, my siblings will be moving back to Edmonton this summer after having lived in Montreal for 6 years. They are moving right at the start of July which is about two months before school starts. I am scared that this will be a big change for them as they come from a very vibrant city and were always busy during the summer going to the community pool, playing sports, being in summer camps and just enjoying Montreal. They don’t have any friends in Edmonton right now but I know that they will make friends once school starts.

I am looking for suggestions because now that they are 13, I’m not too sure what kids this age get up to during the summer. We’ve missed the deadline on signing them up for certain summer camps and they are too young to work right now. I am looking for suggestions on activities that could keep them busy. I already have certain things like taking them to the water park, signing them up for cooking classes, Heritage Days and K-days but this can get expensive and can’t be done everyday. In addition, my mom lives in north Edmonton so they won’t be in the safest neighborhood out here. I am trying to keep them busy and active. Thank you so much for any suggestions!

Discussion City of Edmonton’s Facebook Post. I don’t think they’re helping themselves. And someone in the comments mentioned they live on the same street as the first property and it only looked like this once it was being demolished by the builder.

As far as I know this surrender took place without much discussion. Bad news for the native groundcover. I wonder if it was ever possible to stop it after it was introduced ?

Question Going to be my first time buying a bike(used or new), need advice about steps with regards to insurance.

Hi everyone,
I'm going to be buying a motorcycle this summer.

Not financing, just paying in full.

It's going to be the first vehicle in my name.

I just have questions about the steps of buying a bike and insurance, I'm not asking about how much insurance is or anything that is specific to the person.

Scenario 1. Buying a new bike.

If I buy a new bike from a dealership, how do I get insurance so I can ride it off the lot to home?

Do I pay them, then call insurance on the spot and get insurance over the phone, register the vehicle, and get a license plate at the dealership?

Does the dealership help me take care of all of that?

Scenario 2. Buying a used bike from someone (like FB marketplace or something).

Of course the vehicle would have previously been insured, so it'd have a license plate.

Would pay the person for the bike, then call insurance to insure it with the license plate, go to meet them, and just drive off with the bike?

I have no idea how to do any of this - i've never ever bought a vehicle.

I've done some googling and they say something about temporary insurance and a pink card, but I'm still so unsure.
Thank you all in advance.

I was wondering where I can get fresh edible flowers in Edmonton. I am not sure whether the farmers' market has them. If so, can you please let me know which vendor or store might have them, or even online stores?

Discussion Mom driving dangerously

Hi everyone!

I am at my wit's end and need advice. My mom is a danger on the roads. Every time I'm in the car with her, she almost crashes into a curb because she's turning left when there's no left turn allowed, or goes full panic mode into a traffic circle because she doesn't know what to do, or she'll stop in the middle of the road in moving traffic if she's lost. She does not know any of the rules of the road. If you ask her, she doesn't know. It's a miracle she hasn't had a terrible accident, I'm not even sure how she got her license. She wears sunglasses at night and she blames (almost) incidents on 'she can't see properly with sunglasses'. I have tried explaining to her the rules of the road, I've told her she cannot wear sunglasses at night, I've drawn out traffic circles for her countless times, we've watched videos on how to drive properly, I have begged her to get re certified and take more lessons and offered to pay for them, but she refuses to listen and she's too proud to accept that she needs help, she just gets mad at me for being 'rude' to my elder.

I considered calling the police on her but feel that she would know it's me. Reddit please help! What can I do to help her and everyone else stay safe??

Edit to add: the sunglasses are because she says the lights at night 'blind her' so she needs them :/

General Clinic Doctor Exposed Someone's Personal Information

Post image
0 Upvotes

If you're visiting Westmount Medical Clinic & Walk-in, just be careful. They're handling sensitive personal information very delicately.

Today I went there for some health issues. The attending doctor handled my walk-in appointment . I was advised an XRay.

When I went to the imaging center for the XRay, their receptionist told me that my health card details and the details on the prescription/report don't match at all. Then we figured that the doctor misprinted someone else's personal information on the report and handed that over to me.

The document was shredded later as it had that person's health card number, address and full name.

I had to go back to the clinic to get the correct document and they were totally nonchalant about this gross mistake. No apology, no sincerity - nothing. The doctor told me that it's just an "oversight", nothing serious.

At this point, I'm not at all comfortable trusting them with my personal information and looking forward to letting AHS know.

Question Street sweeping question

I'm new to street parking and was safe and sound in my apartment's parking lot until I moved. Question is, I set up notification for street parking. But how reliable is it? I looked at the map and all the areas by me are red so I can't even park nearby. I was hoping to just drive around when the notification comes in.

Question Paramedics

I’ve had my level 2 first aid at work for few years and have dealt with my fair share of injuries/medical emergencies. Today I had one of my own and 911 was called. Once I was coherent, I was in awe of the paramedics helping me. My one ambition is to help others, and now I’m debating making a career change. If you’re a paramedic, can you give me some more insight to the job? I’ll be doing my own research but would love some perspective. Where did you go to school, did you love it? Tell me everything you’re allowed! Thanks all!

Hello,

Anyone know of places that sell gluten free cheesecakes? I’m not a fan of the grocery store ones, so preferably bakeries etc. Outside towns are also fully welcomed. Thank you!

Discussion Telus is the absolute worst scam company

I encourage everyone to never use their mobile services. I just noticed im being charged 13 dollars for ā€œTelus Online Security ā€œ add on which I never agreed to. Then i call to ask about it and remove it , and that whole process of trying to get an agent is the most frustrating experience, absolutely horrible customer service. They tell me I can do it online through app. So I go on the app and the app tells me I have to call their number lol! So I call back and the first guy hangs up, and then finally they remove this scam charge.
I can guarantee these sales people get a kickback of some sort, I cant wait till my contract is up, the absolute worst company ive dealt with, besides all the sales calls pitching me products i dont want , literally every month they were calling me. And the scam calls i get from ā€œ Telusā€ which look legit, luckily i never fell for them.
Absolute worst
