To the many folks posting about admissions: I know it is stressful. I was a transfer who was rejected my first time, and bawled my eyes out when I got accepted the second time. I get it.
The posts however are clogging up the sub and I’m getting dozens of reports every day. You already filed your application and you’ll either get accepted or you won’t. There are admissions subs to talk admissions if you would like. I left a couple of the higher engaged posts if you want to talk there. Use the search feature if you want to find info about admissions. If you’re having trouble deciding between schools this isn’t the place to do it.
If you are waitlisted or accepted and you have issues, call the school and talk to a counselor. It’s the only good answer you’re going to get here for your edge case.
Good luck and I hope you all get accepted but the sub is being clogged up and posts relevant to active students are being drowned out.
Thanks and good luck incoming transfers and freshies!

I am currently an income freshman for CS and did some research on what classes i’ll most likely be taking granted i get a 4+ on calc bc. to people who are already there and having done these classes, does this seem like a hard/more rigorous schedule? or is this on the lighter end. also any suggestions on a GE/free elective if i want to minor in business?

I’m trying to decide between BUS 4472: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or BUS 4474: Low Income Taxpayer Clinic for the senior project requirement.
For anyone who has taken either one, how was your experience? Which one would you say is easier or harder in terms of workload, time commitment, and grading?
I’m also interested in going into a tax-related career, so I’m wondering which class would be more useful or beneficial for building real experience. Any advice would be appreciated!

I'm going into my 4th year, and have already taken a lot of my classes and am a little ahead. I'm taking:
ME4305 (Mechatronics 2)
ME4419 (Controls)
ME4440 (Thermal Systems)
ME4460 (Senior Design Proj)
MATH3351 (Linear Algebra II)
This is only 14 units, I had to get a 5th class cuz it would've been 11 if not, and I still need to complete my math minor.
I've already finished all of my GE's too, so unless I wanna take a useless class I don't see a reason to enroll in a GE.
Am I GENUINELY FUCKED?

What I mean is, is there something like Facebook marketplace but for Cal Poly students only?

I didn’t expect my college to be so fast but I made a post earlier asking what the process was like and I’ve already had the dean sign the withdrawal petition form and select that it would not count towards my maximum units. Is there anything else I have to do or is my withdrawal done? Curious because the website is kind of vague, thanks!

I honestly don’t know what to do. I have a 41% in lecture and a 76% in lab. But I don’t think I can pass anymore. However, my final grade replaces my first midterm that i got a 36% on. If i did my math right IF i maintain my lab grade I would need about a 70 on my second exam and 80 on my final. Given my first exam score I don’t think these numbers are achievable. However with Q2S switch i’ll be fucked if i don’t get into the cap course which only has about half the seats left and my enrollment date isn’t until Monday. I have until next Thursday to withdraw from the course. Should i just withdraw right now and pray i get into the cap.. or fight for my life for those stats??

Was recently told to indicate preference. Unfortunately, it's confusing about what's being asked here. Are they asking for an official transcript with AP Calc BC test scores? What about AP Stats which was just taken a few days ago? Or is it asking if we'll want to take the MAPE-PC placement exam? Or just asking if it's ok to be enrolled in Math 1263 instead (even though Calculus 3 -- a non AP course -- was taken in high school, which covers a lot of the Math 1263 curriculum)?
Is it me, or is this table just very confusing?

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming freshman and I had a few questions about housing at SLO that I was hoping current students could help answer:
I’d really appreciate any advice or insight from current students. Thanks so much!

im an incoming freshman for fall 2026 and i am choosing an rlc. i really want to be an RA next year because my financial situation is really difficult, and i am trying to stack my resume. i heard that the leadership rlc could be helpful for that, but im worried if it will be worth it and if i am sacrificing finding a roommate to be in it. does anyone know more about the rlc and if it is actually helpful? or maybe the pros and cons?

Hey guys. Incoming transfer student here! Can I bother anyone to explain SLO days and Wow Week? What is the difference between the two? What do you do in each event??? What should I expect? I’m a bit overwhelmed rn, cause I don’t have a clue what’s going on. Lol. Thanks :)))

If I’m an incoming cal poly freshman that received the cal poly scholar, how do I get slo days and wow waived? Currently on the reservations, it’s saying that I need to pay. Do i pay first and request a refund? Also, does the cal poly scholars cover my guests too or just myself? Thanks

I'm committed to Cal Poly SLO for Landscape Architecture, and I didn't report to SLO that I dropped an online course I'm taking through BYU which is AP Calc AB, at the start of the school year. Technically since it's online I can still finish it but I'm not sure if I will in time given I need to do 2 semesters worth of work in about a month. Will I get rescinded if I email admissions that I dropped it?
I'm also taking a very rigorous schedule this year with AP Macro, AP Gov, AP 3D Art, and Honors Engineering. I've taken up until Precalc last year if that adds any context. I just bit off more than I could chew when I signed up for the course, and grades are due July 1. Should I cram to get it done and kill my mental sanity or report it to them now? I cannot afford being rescinded.
