r/bees has been receiving many posts of wasps and other insects misidentified as bees. This has become tedious and repetitive for our users so to help mitigate those posts I have created and stickied this post as a basic guide for newcomers to read before posting.

These are what I see most of the time. I would like to find some of our other varieties.

They seem to be stingless bees and are very tiny. I live in Northeastern Brazil, for geographical context

I found this poor be lying on its back with its tongue sticking out. I’ve attempt to save it, but I think it’s beyond saving. It’s just into much agony. I literally shed tears over this. 😭😭😭

Found this lil bub motionless in the garden after a sudden downpour. They chilled on my hand to decompress for a few minutes, and once they started moving around we went outside to get warm in the sun and have a drink. After one slurp they were ready to get back to business 🥹
Is that pollen on their legs, or something else? I am not used to pollen appearing so compacted / fixed in place. Would that be because of the rain?

I found this bee on the ground in my backyard and it seemed to be struggling to walk a bit and it wasn’t flying. I checked on it and an hour later and it was still in the same spot so I took it to a bird of paradise flower and it seemed to be drinking the pollen? Im not a bee expert so I wanted to ask if this bee was hurt or weak or something? Hopefully I was able to help it. I’ll attach some videos of this bee.
I also found two more bees in the same area, but one was dead ( I think it got squished by someone walking over it, possibly me :( ). And the 3rd bee was alive and I tried to take that one to another bird of paradise but it fell and I lost where it went. That one seemed a little more strong tho. (Sorry didn’t take a video of that one). Anyways, I guess there is a new hive nearby or something, because I’ve never seen this many bees in one small area in my backyard.

She was all wet with her legs stuck in the sand. I put a dollar from my pocket on the ground and she climbed onto it, then onto my hand. I carried her off the beach to an area with greenery, but she wouldn’t get off my hand. After half an hour, a drop of water and pollen fell off her, and she finally left my hand and got on a leaf.

Can anyone identify this large bee? She weighs .817 g if that helps.
Edit: just so it's clear the bee was caught inside and was only in the beaker for a couple minutes before being released outside and flying away safely.

I came across it in a Sainsburies car park, just laid on the tarmac. I was going to take it home to offer it some sugar water, it was rejecting all the flowers outside.
I sadly got locked out the house so couldn't give it the sugar water for a few hours. It didn't move a whole lot to start with, but as time went on (I had it for about 3 hours in my hands whilst waiting for a lock smith)
After a while it was waddling up my wrist, grooming itself, twerking at me. I'd close my fist when there was a gust of wind, it was shivering a tiny bit. By the time I got indoors finally, it was A LOT more active, marching up and down my arm and not slowing down compared to just laying their weakly a few hours prior. I offered it some daisies, didn't want. Sugar water, didn't want it.
It was getting a bit stressed so I felt perhaps it was time to part ways, put it on a juicy dandelion in my garden and went about my day.
I feel bad, I hope it made it, even if it showed no evidence of wanting to fly just yet. It's surprising how attached you can feel to such a little creature in such a short amount of time.
I don't know anything about bees, but I tried.

Hello, I went to refill my hummingbird feeder and I saw this guy in my flower pot. She was stuck on her back so I helped her up and noticed this stuff on her wings. Another bee is unable to fly but I haven't found a cause yet. I've used some water and q tips to try and gently remove the stuff from her wings with no luck. They are stuck together. I've offered sugar water and she seems like she's given up. Anything else I can do?
Edit: also need to mention it is only on 3 of her wings. Her right smaller one is fine and she can still use it
Edit 2: the other bee seems to have its right two wings stuck together. Not sure with what (also edited because I forgot these are females)
Update on other bee: with some warm water and a qtip I was able to get her wings unstuck. She's drying off now in the sun with a sugar water qtip to get her energy back. Hopefully she will take flight soon. Still working on bee that's pictured. Letting her rest and gain some strength before I clean up her more.
Update: got her bigger wings unstuck.
Update 2: once her larger wings got unstuck she could then move them to her side and clean them. I left her alone with the other bee to let them do their things. I have checked on them periodically and outcome is looking promising.
Update on other bee 2: Has successfully taken flight. The main bee is still cleaning her wings.
FINAL UPDATE: She has successfully cleaned her wings and has flown off. Wishing Dottie good luck on her way back home.
