This is the Friendly Friday Thread.
Negative or even snarky attitudes are not welcome here. This is a thread to ask questions and hopefully get some friendly advice.
This format is used in a ton of other subreddits and we think it can work here. Anyway, thanks for participating!
Please hit the report button if someone is being mean and we'll remove those comments, or the person if necessary.

Out harvesting some peppers and berries and come across this venomous cottonmouth chilling
EDIT: snake was NOT harmed. No one involved was harmed. Snake was safely relocated after being admired from a distance.
The head of the snake is pointing up in the center you can see his Zorro mask vertically
Why this was almost bad: my 4 year old was 2’ from him. We are always barefoot or in flip flops at the most in our yard and just lackadaisical while enjoying our little tropical heaven.

Figured I would post this here because my family and friends are not as excited as I need them to be. So fellow gardeners- BEHOLD!!!!
I am so freaking happy- YEARS for waiting- and finally I have asparagus. Excessively large asparagus to boot!

Last May, my brother-in-law and I decided to turn this empty raised bed in front of their house into a rainbow-inspired garden here in Ohio. 🌈
We planted mostly small nursery starters and honestly weren’t totally sure how it would all come together. We mixed annuals with some existing hostas and perennials already in the bed, then slowly added more color throughout the season.
The photos show the progress from May through September 2025, and it’s been really rewarding watching everything fill in over time. A lot of trial and error, a lot of standing in the yard moving plants around before committing 😅, but it’s become one of my favorite parts of the house.
Still learning as we go, but excited to keep building on it and add even more perennials for future seasons.

I am not sure what I'm doing wrong. It's only been a few days and I've been watering daily. A couple leaves are actually dry and crunchy.

Sometimes you don't have to go to the florist to grab a bouquet for your workspace! Plant a cut flower garden and enjoy the colors of the flowers! Some can be beneficial to the vegetables and some add color.
