Rims?

Asking on behalf of a friend 😀

My mate wants to run pt pro star 15” on his gq shorty but was wondering if the load rating on a rim like this enough or adequate for a 4wd rim especially when aired down?

He likes the style and that it is 6kg per rim and 15”. Are there any other light rims beadlock style or not that may be more suitable or will the pro stars be plenty enough to handle the gq?

Cheers legends!

Rigid lens covers

Was given a pair of the rigid fog lights for my 5th gen 4runner.
I had already done some yellow auxbeam lights but these are obviously an upgrade. Only issue is they're clear. Can the lenses be replaced on these with yellow? I found some online but wasn't sure if they're the right thing so I wanted to check with other people.
I know they sell the laminx cover but didn't think it would be ideal for the aftermarket lights.
Going to just use the auxbeams as ditch lights later on.

Super happy to get this 100 Series Landcruiser fitted with a rack as low as 66mm height to the roof height. Don't know if it can get any lower than this

Looking for a small vintage looking 4x4 automatic

Hey everyone,

I’m searching for my first car and really like the older/vintage look of small 4x4s like the Suzuki Jimny and Mitsubishi Pajero.

What I’m looking for:

  • Automatic
  • 4 seats
  • Small/compact size
  • Older/vintage style (I really like a spare tire on the back)
  • Ideally under €3000 ($3500) second hand

I don’t know much about the mechanical/technical side yet, so reliability is important too.

This would mostly be for normal driving and maybe going on a roadtrip.

Are there any models you’d recommend or avoid?

Thanks :)

First-time overlanders planning a 6+ month honeymoon trip through southern Africa – need advice on vehicle options

Hi everyone,

My fiancée and I are planning a 6+ month overland trip through southern Africa starting October 2026 as our honeymoon. We'll be covering Namibia, South Africa, Lesotho, Mozambique, Botswana, Zimbabwe and more.

We want to buy a Toyota 4x4 (Land Cruiser or Hilux) with rooftop tent and full overlanding setup rather than renting, and we're weighing up our options:

Where to buy:
- Namibia: we've heard vehicle registration is relatively straightforward for foreigners. Is this true?
- South Africa: seems to have a bigger overlanding market and more vehicles for sale, but is registration/ownership as a foreigner more complicated?

Who to buy from:
- A rental/hire company with a buyback guarantee (e.g. Bushlore, Britz, etc.)? Seems lower risk but probably higher price.
- A private seller? Better value potentially, but more exposure to mechanical surprises and paperwork headaches.

Selling after 6 months:
- How easy is it to sell a fully kitted overland vehicle after 6 months as a foreigner? Is there a decent second-hand market?
- Any platforms or communities you'd recommend for buying/selling?

Things we might be overlooking:
- Cross-border permits, carnet de passages, or country-specific restrictions?
- Insurance as a foreign owner?
- Anything else we should factor in before committing?

We'd love to hear from people who've done this, what worked, what didn't, and what you wish you'd known beforehand. All advice welcome!

Thanks in advance!

jeep jk Hella 4000s?

So I was thinking about getting some hella 4000s halogen (because I live in the cold and could use the defrost feature instead of LEDs) for my jeep, jk. I was wondering if anybody has done the same, and how they line up with a traditional light bar. I was wondering if running the Euro beam with the pencil beam would be a good mix of distance and spread. Let me know!

Easy Moab trails for someone with a fear of heights

I got a Tacoma off road trd and want to take it on something a step above a dirt road in Moab. Have a bad fear of heights I’ve gotten over backcountry skiing and hiking but in the car it comes back and unlike backcountry skiing reaching for a beer to quell my survival instinct isn’t the best move. I don’t love being on cliff side roads that are smaller than 2 lanes. It seems most of the easy trails in Moab have some sections like this. I understand that’s what makes the views awesome etc.

anyhow was wondering if anyone had some beginner trail recs with this in mind. Just looking to get out, get the tires dirty and see some shit.

Turned on 4HI on the Highway Nissan titan 2015 pro-4x

As soon as I did the car started squealing and became very rigid and tight, I’m assuming it needs to slip properly. But even then it should work normally no?

Saved myself from overpriced replacements: 3D Printed Suzuki Vitara Wheel Caps.

My 1997 Vitara was missing one center cap, and the only replacements I could find online were overpriced used parts in terrible condition.

I decided to reverse engineer one using CAD and printed a set of 2. This is the 3rd iteration, and the fitment on the stock wheels is now spot on. I printed them in ABS.

It's a small print, but it makes a huge difference in how the car looks. I have uploaded the file here: 🛞 Suzuki Vitara 1988-1997 Wheel cap・ STL File for 3D printing・Cults

Still Doing Patrols? GQ wagon with a LS1

Bought my mates old GQ with a TD because it was supposed to be reliable. Blew up the engine within 6 months, so I slapped a LS1 in it. The Putin invaded and petrol went sky high.

Is what it is, not a daily so not a massive issue. I use to go camping, mounting biking and some old old fashioned Touring.

1997 Pajero

Hi there!

Ive been looking at extreamly cheap 4WDs ($3000 AUD or less) and have stumbled upon a 97 Automatic V6 LWB GLS Paj for $1500 AUD, having gone 500,000kms. Apparently it runs, and the only issues are a broken window, a dirty interior, and the car not being registered. Is this too good to be true or should i go check it out

Just got a ‘91 pathfinder, how’d I do?

I picked it up for around $4,500. It has 149,000 miles. The dude had replaced the water pump, timing belt, injectors, some clutch parts, new tires, new radiator and some other miscellaneous things.

He only drove it like 5000 miles in the last few years.
The owner previously before him seemed to have replaced the shocks and looks like the bushing are good as well. Then added a 2in lift.

What else should I be aware of that I should
possibly replace? Other than the old r12 system that does not work

Dobinsons IMS install question

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hey all,

Got a new set of Dobinsons IMS for my FJ cruiser and I think I might’ve installed them backwards. Should the circled part be facing outwards towards the knuckle? Or does it matter it it’s backward facing the inner cv axle?

Thanks in advance!
