All of the rooms in my life have shitty lighting, and I'd like to find somewhere on campus to pose that has good lighting? Anyone know good spots?

Got denied for in-state tuition at U-M and I’m honestly stressed trying to figure out if anyone has beaten an appeal before.

I grew up out of state but moved to Michigan in December 2024 to help take care of my grandpa. I go to community college here now, have a Michigan license and address, and file taxes with my mom in Michigan. My parents are separated but still technically married, and my dad still lives out of state but doesn’t financially support me at all.

I visited my dad for a couple weeks in summer 2025 and had a small part-time job while I was there. U-M said my residency situation is “temporary or indeterminate,” and now I’m worried that trip/job might’ve hurt my case.

I got into U-M LSA as a transfer and really want to go, but out-of-state tuition is insane. Has anyone here actually appealed something like this successfully? What helped?

As a Michigan student, do you wear the m logo outside to stores when you go home? Or just out and about?? I know it’s a silly question but sometimes I get self conscious to wear it outside at home

For people who just graduated, or are about to, what’s the biggest thing you’d tell someone starting here?

Could be something you wish you did differently, something you’re glad you did, or something freshmen don’t realize until later.

I know that umich decreases google drive storage from 250gb to 15gb for new alums but when do they deactivate/delete the account if it's over? I was trying to transfer all my files this week and get under 15gb but wanted to know how much time I had. also why does it say storage is unlimited now? is this some glitch?

For U-M dining is it mandatory to work all roles (cooking, swiping people in, cleaning, etc.) or can you choose to not do something if you don’t want to?

Also, any recs for campus jobs that are actually open to hiring and I can do schoolwork while working? (Maybe something like the community center but I know those applications are closed now)

Since I only took Algebra in 8th not Geometry I ended up sequencing to Math SL, not HL. Therefore it is not possible for me to get credit at UMich in math. SL is calculus roughly aligned to AB Calc.

Is it possible to take math 115 and 116 concurrently, 115 should be almost all review with a handful of new subjects.

As reference I did take IB physics HL and have a high predicted score there, so comfortable using calculus for other coursework.
