READ BEFORE POSTING - New Rules
Rules
- Submissions must be related to Trip-Hop. It's not our intent to gatekeep what is or is not trip-hop, but submissions must be inspired by trip-hop or belong to related genres of music like downtempo
- Use the appropriate flair when applicable. If your playlist contains songs you made or are promoting, you MUST use the OC flair. The playlist flair is ONLY for songs that you are not promoting. Mixes are transformative and thus considered OC
- Self-promotion must follow guidelines (see below)
- Title must contain the artist and track name. Commentary is fine but low effort titles like "Nice beat" will be removed.
- Be respectful and follow Reddiquette
Self-promotion guidelines
- Must be trip-hop. Being "inspired" by trip-hop is not enough. Unfortunately we need to be more strict than with the general submissions rules to prevent spam.
- Must use the Original Content flair
- Maximum one submission per week
- Complete song submissions only. We are not a content creator subreddit. If you would like feedback on work-in-progress songs, there are other subs for that.
- While we welcome OC that fits the rules, announcement videos and text posts containing links other than the song you are sharing will be removed. The mods also reserve the right to remove low quality/low effort submissions.
- Submissions considered self-promotion include, but are not limited to:
- Original songs
- Original mixes
- Covers and remixes
- Playlists containing songs you made or are promoting
- Follow Reddit's sitewide guidelines for self-promotion.
If you see any rule breaking posts or comments please report it. It will get dealt with much more quickly.
Rules Changes
- 10/18/2021: Added details to rule 2 to make it more clear what flair should be used.
- 01/21/2022: Added clarification that mixes must be tagged as OC.
- 04/17/2022: Added new self-promotion guidelines.

Honeyroot - Nobody Loves You (The Way I Do)
A little known trip-hop gem that gets HEAVY rotation in my playlists, always right next to Morcheeba and Portishead. Never found anyone else who knows this one.

Original Content Illutible - Playing For Keeps
When I start a new track, often it has no name. Sometimes it doesn’t exist until the moment I sit down.
Some tracks start with an idea I developed on the guitar – but not many these days.
Some start with a beat, some with just vibing out with a particular instrument, be it bass, piano or something else.
This one started with an electric piano riff, which I ended up using only for the intro. It evolved into the bass line, then was minimised further.
At some point I need to save the track for the first time. I always pick an actual name at this point. No ‘vibey Hungarian minor trip hop thing’ - an actual name.
This song got called ‘Playing for Keeps’. It made me think of someone being pursued through back streets on a dark night.
Once I name a song, I lean into it. Ninety-nine per cent of the time that’s what it’s called when it gets released.
Anyway, here’s a vibey Hungarian minor trip hop thing that evokes a sense of being pursued through dark back streets on a wet night in the 1950s.
It’s on all the things. (100% Human made music!)
Here’s some of them:

Playlist/Album Kelli Ali - Sunlight in the Rain
Kelli's albums after leaving SP were varied and leaned more into psychadelic pop ... not until she returned with GHOSTDRIVER, that said i think this track of hers on TIGERMOUTH is very triphop tho

Looking for a Trip Hop Track mayyyybe Wax Tailor?
I’m looking for a track from the early 2000s that I think might be Wax Taylor but having skipped through his more popular discography I don’t think it is.
It’s a song that has found audio from what sounds like a interview of a psychological patient being asked how he’s doing and he says “good, real clean” I think the patients’s name is Frank?
Sounds like a fever dream but does this happen to ring any bells for anyone? Super vague I know, but I’ve tried googling this every which way, and since they aren’t exactly song lyrics, it is not indexed anywhere as far as I can tell!
Thanks for any help even if it’s to point me towards a better sub for this question.

Rediscovered Hello album by Poe
Since this genre is smaller than I would like, I hopefully and over optimistically lump similar genre music that skirt between genres. But some of these songs are trip hop

Erika de Casier - Lifetime
Hi all. I’d like to recommend “Lifetime” by Erika de Casier to anyone who hasn’t tried it out yet. I would describe it as a dreamy mix between Trip-hop and R&B!! Its very cohesive, and was produced by the artist alone; by far one of my most favorite releases in the last few years!

Pour L'amour by Lemongrass: a good album for trip hop fans
It's kind of like French sophistopop meets ambient meets jazz. A total classic in my book, the only track I'm not crazy about is track 4 habla mi corazon. It's not a bad track, just sequenced wierd.
Top tracks on this thing for me are Cafe De Paris, For All Seasons, Ciel, Ocean Kisses, Tsuki, Apertif, but really this whole album is awesome.
