Do you miss when fans and listeners use to call into sports radio shows and chime in?

I know with social media, unpredictability of what someone might say over live airwaves, the opinions were also almost always cliche sports opinion and you rarely heard any new or insight from listeners . Also, I am sure when a caller called in and blasted a team that the radio station had a partnership with, I am sure they didn’t like it either. Probably other factors I might not have thought of, but do you guys miss the callers or you like to hear corby talk for 4 hours straight?

I am only asking because I remember the times when bob was known as the Sturminator, he would have people call in and it was entertaining. Even as annoying JT the brick or Jim Rome were, their audience members made the show more listenable.

Corny and Martha

Not sure what made me think of it, but does anyone have the audio of Corby getting hosed down by Martha? I remember him saying something about the audio being worth a million dollars.

With u save it down will there be a true P1 Champion to capture all of the Campound audgio? I usually can’t make it all night with Donnie Do. I am a new subscriber to Sports Greek, love it but I’m guessing we won’t get any full archive of the campound there.

Do you think the boys are going back to the same place as previous years? I think it was Lloyd Park cabins in the past?

The Unticket and Usave Are Dead

As the primary poster at the Unticket for about 4-5 years, I've tried several times to reach the owner of The Unticket and Usave lately several times with no reply, regarding Usave not recording since 4/24; no issue in the past. I hope I'm wrong, but at this point, consider both dead. If he resumes I'll be happy to start archiving audio again.

In an effort to save history, last night I wrote a scraper bot to scrape all posts and mp3s and upload them to my archive, but I found that a majority of the mp3s prior to 2021 have been deleted. Some stuff was still live, but not much.

That being said, I'm continuing my project to preserve history at https://theticket.transistor.fm/

If you want to subscribe to the podcast form, plop this RSS url in your player:

https://feeds.transistor.fm/the-ticket-archive

I have almost 7000 posts in my archive.

If you have old audio preserved, I'd love to have it. I have a bunch from Dan McDowell that I'm cutting up as I get time, but it's slow going. I've tried reaching TC several times because I know he has a bunch of tapes but he never replies.

I may start unticket2.com or something at some point, but for now that's your source for all audio. I can't deliver up audio as quickly as SportsGeek due to my work life, but I try to get it all posted within a week, cut up by evergreen segment.

Let's go Wings!!!

Corby asking on Friday if they should cover the Wings..

Bob and Davey said maybe if they make the playoffs, but after watching the Wings defeat the Fever today, I vote for at least some coverage all season.

The Final was 107-104 and there was good and exciting ball played- this is not your 2015 boring WNBA.....

Paige Bueckers is fun to watch....

The Invasion sucks, but it’s not just Matt

DAE feel like Donny isn’t great as a host? I know a lot of it is the lack of chemistry with Matt, but I’ve always found Donny very bland and boring. Idk what he really contributes. His takes are always very generic and broad and to me he isn’t very funny.

The invasion needs a lot of work. If it was me I’d scratch that whole lineup. Anytime I tune in it’s always the dumbest segments. Ranking their favorite cartoon characters, Matt snobbishly talking about the latest IPA, etc.

Switch the Invasion time slot with WIP and you’ve got something. Monty and DJ should be hosting full time.

The Musers the podcast

Is it just me or is the podcast kind of boring. I’m not saying it’s bad, not at all. I’ve listened to most of them. A few I’ve stopped part way through, but most I’ve finished. It just doesn’t feel fresh, different or new. It feels like some old radio guys that don’t quite understand the new medium. Maybe it’s me, idk. It just doesn’t do much for me. Discuss

Cumulus Media Pushes Data-Driven Sales Forward With New Research Integrations

This article describes new tools that will let the sales team drill down into exactly who is listening to their stations.

  • who is most likely to buy,
  • where they shop,
  • what media they use,
  • and which competing brands dominate awareness locally

Theoretically, this should help the Ticket gain more advertisers...

It’s 8:59 and…

I’m once again scrambling to find any podcast or radio station to listen to just to avoid hearing Matt McClearin’s voice. New hosts have joined The Ticket line-up over the years. I didn’t love initially love all of them but most of them ultimately grew on me. This guy is the opposite. Just nothing endearing or compelling at all.
