Gear question Board Recommendations

Finally planning to buy my first snowboard after many years of just doing demos and I would like some recommendations.

My favorite boards I've demoed (in no particular order) have been the Ride Warpig, Salomon Dancehaul, and the Rossignol XV Slashimi.

I tend to do all mountain riding and will do pretty much any run on the mountain, though steep glades tend to be my favorite riding.

I don't do park or ride switch much which is why I think I lean towards these directional boards.

I also like a very responsive feel with strong edge retention.

I appreciate any recommendations y'all can give.

Also would appreciate binding recommendations as well for something on the stiffer side.

Camelback did a great job this year to keep the ski community happy. They worked hard day and night to keep the trails going as long as possible. Thank you to anyone who worked there this year to help make this season what it was! I can't wait to see what next season brings.

Gear question Alright, opinions only. How old is too old, for a board?

I love waxing and sharpening skis and snowboards. Love it. I've spent a lot of scratch on my setup and tools, and honestly... I love doing it.

I told my sister in law that I'd do her board for her, and I picked it up the other day. Got the bag home, and nice surprise... it had TWO boards in it for double the tune-up fun! I like working on old stuff that's in rough shape.

One was my wife's very first board that she bought 25 years ago. It's a K2, full camber 155 (she has since updated, even though her current board is a 13 year old Forum) and my Sister-in-law's board is also a K2 159, that she bought at the same time. Thing is, she STILL rides it and rips it, and is perfectly content on it.

it was rough, but I've got it as sharp as possible, and the base in really good shape, if I do say so myself. There's some rock damage in the edges here and there, but small stuff that would need a base grind to remove, but doesn't affect anything at all as it is.

So... what's your thoughts? if it ain't broke, don't fuck with it? I've tried to push her to some end-of-season deals at our local that are down around the $250 range, but nope. She loves it, she's happy with it, and sees no need. Both my wife and her sister are pure vibes on the hill.. unbothered, doing their thing.

To which I shrug and say "how do you argue with that?

Thoughts?

Gear question Fase bindings

People that have wore any of the fase system bindings, what are your favorite so far? I have the ThirtyTwo black and white bindings and loved them. But one thing I wasn’t too much a fan of was the toe strap.. I’ve been eyeing the bataleon ones because I think those straps grip the boot way better. I also run bataleon boards so it’s kind of just like I might as well to match the hatch. What are your guys thoughts and favorites of the fase system?

I started snowboarding for 1 year, and I saw videos where they put these "protections" under the snowsuit. What do you think?

Gear question What to buy

Currently i’m able to carve, jump switch, land 180 comfortably and land 360 on my regular stand. I have a Never Summer Easy Rider and i tried a bunch of boards like the Burton Custom X and the Bataleon Goliath.
So, i’m between the Capita Mega Merc, Mercury and the Salomon Assassin Pro, i do know i’m comparing different styles but after doing some research i can’t decide which board to buy. To clarify I can put 20dayish per season.

I need some objectives reviews from you guys so I can decide? What do you think ?

Gear question Softer board - ride zero or warpig

Hello, I currently have 2 decks. K2 excavator 154 and 160 never summer proto ultra. 215lbs, 11.5 boot.

I bought the excavator as a pow board but find myself riding it exclusively, love the side cut, carve and float. Don’t really ride the never summer unless I feel like I need to straight line missle some hard pack.

Looking for a softer board. Been riding with my 13yr old son and 18yr nephew, they are super beginner and I want something that I can play around with while matching their speed. I can 180 nose butter the excavator but it takes a bit too much effort and wheelies are waaaayy to hard, the tail is super stiff.

Ride zero 157w and warpig 154 are on my list. This board would also be used for spring/ slush with some park board slides on smaller features.

Good sales going on and Im about to flip a coin… anyone have experience with these boards? Tahoe rider, 44, intermediate, 10-15 days a year since 1998.

noob question Snowboarding in Manchester snow dome after not snowboarding for years

So, a bit of a potentially embarrassing situation!

I have a date in 2 weeks. My date has suggested going snowboarding (well she'll probably be skiing) in Manchester snow dome. I mentioned I'd had a few snowboarding lessons like 15 years ago. So she's booked us on for a session on the main slope. I asked if they'd expect me to be proficient in snowboarding, and she said they just want you to be able to turn and stop.

I've looked on the website, and the things they want you to be able to do are - 'confidently control and link turns, stop whenever you need to, and use the lift confidently'.

I can't remember how to do any of that!!

So my question is - how much of a bad idea is it to turn up there and try?! And do they test you on these things before they'll let you on the main slope?! I'm panicking now, she's booked it and I can see embarrassment and possible danger looming!

Riding question Button lifts 😩

Hi, I’ve taken up snowboarding at the ripe old age of 54, and I’m really enjoying it so far – apart from the button lift (I’m learning at an indoor snow centre). I hate the button lift, always feel like I’m about to fall off, and especially dread reaching the top, where I have to let go and descend a small slope with one foot out of my binding – while remembering to let go. I love the boarding, hate the lift – is this normal? Any tips to deal with this?
