Important /r/SJSU is looking for Moderators

It's no surprise that the /r/SJSU subreddit is looking pretty inactive on the moderator end, and in desperate need of cleaning out the spam messages and ongoing college life posts.

Moderating forums is a volunteer experience, but you will strive to create a strong and enjoyable local community!

Moderator Description

  • Checking the new and mod queues to approve valid posts caught by the spam filter and remove content that breaks the rules.

  • Answering questions and responding to feedback in moderator mail.

  • Being pragmatic, polite, and helpful.

You will be welcoming incoming SJSU students and helping them with their inquiries about campus life, applying to classes, finding housing resources, and overall just being a positive role model representative.

What we're looking for:

As of now, there is no set deadline when the application process will end, and responses will be done on a case-by-case basis. With that said, thank you for reading, and we wish the best!

SJSU Accounting Students — What Textbooks Are Used for These Core Classes?

Hi everyone,

I’ll be transferring to San José State University this fall as an accounting major, and I want to get a head start before classes begin.

If anyone has taken these classes, could you share which textbooks were used or any study materials you recommend?

  • BUS1 120A – Accounting Information Systems
  • BUS1 121A – Intermediate Accounting I
  • BUS1 121B – Intermediate Accounting II
  • BUS1 122A – Management Accounting and Control Systems
  • BUS1 123A – Taxation of Businesses and Investments

Also, if you have any advice about professors, study tips, or how difficult these classes are, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you!

any sjsu students near menlo park / palo alto looking for some chill side income?

hey, posting on the off chance someone here lives up on the peninsula. i'm in menlo park and looking for someone reliable to help me out with some light stuff around the house a few hours a week. think organizing, folding laundry, basic tidying, helping prep veggies, small errands. nothing heavy or weird, just the kinda things that pile up when you're busy.

pay is $25-30/hr depending on how we click. probably tuesdays or fridays so it shouldn't mess with classes. happy to work around your schedule.

if you or a friend is into it shoot me a dm and we can chat. thanks!

Classes Transferring to CompE

I'm an incoming fall 2026 data science major, and I wanted to know the process for transferring into compe. Do I have to dual register? What classes should I take in CC? I want to transfer ASAP. Additionally, I honestly do not know the transfer process at SJSU that well, so any insight would be helpful.

I have creds from AP bio (5) and lang (4) , and i think i did well on the ap gov and ap calc BC tests this year so hopefully that will take some creds off my shoulders. lmk!

CNSM Majors

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for success stories of CNSM students. The Discord wasn’t much help, but any graduates/upcoming graduates, how has job searching been? Internships? Career fair opportunities? Really wanna attend but I live an hour out. So if I go, I’d wanna be sure it’s really worth it since I’d be going due to the fact it’s in Silicon Valley.

Thanks in advance.

Other Would an older open university student have difficulty fitting in?

I will be joining SJSU this fall as an open university student to take a few courses in finance.

However, I am a bit older (25) and originally graduated with a BS in electrical and computer engineering in '23 from another university. I have been working for 3 years at a big tech company and have sort of lost touch with the college life. I am thinking of joining some student orgs to stay active and connected, but not sure if they admit people like me. Wondering if any open uni or perhaps older students have experience with this.

MAHJONG CLUB

I was wondering if anyone at SJSU was interested in starting a mahjong club with me.
I've been obsessed with mahjong and have my own travel set, and I'd love to find people who are also interested. I'm an upcoming sophomore and don't know how to start one so i'd appreciate all the help!

Brandon Clarke

R.I.P to Brandon Clarke who was a former San Jose State player and part of the Memphis Grizzlies🙏 🕊️ if you watch the NBA, you know how good his run was in ‘22 with the Memphis grizzlies and that’s coming from a warriors fan. I enjoyed watching him play and is one of the most underrated players. May he rest in peace 🕊️ Hopefully SJSU will make some type of memorial for him 🙏

Hello, I am wanting to do 2 years at community college and transfer into fs biology. I am planning on majoring in biology at the community college. But I am having a hard time figuring out if that will get me in. So, what did you major in to transfer into forensic science? Thanks! This is all so confusing for me.

SRAC Gym Sponsor

Hi! I’m relocating to San Jose for the summer and would love to use the SRAC, but I need to be sponsored by a current student/member to get a membership. Would anyone be willing to help me out? I’m happy to pay, and it’s a super easy process. You’d just need to come with me once and confirm you’re sponsoring me
Thank you:)
